Great blogger, great lawyer
This post should be required reading for bloggers, journalists and lawyers. This level of analysis and writing is something typically not taught in school. Comparing this post to the legal "reasoning" in the Yoo memorandum highlights why our country is in such a mess. In a court of law this post would be devastating. Unfortunately, since the MSM is directly implicated and is choosing to not cover the story, I am not certain how this can come to further light. As others have noted, the response to this story is like a perfect storm of institutional indifference and/or hostility.
BTW, isn't it amazing that we can get seven hours of coverage of two Democratic primary races, highlighted by John King (Glenn's BFF) playing with the "Big Board," but not even once mention of a coordinated Pentagon propoganda program (say that fast five times) to sell Americans on the need for the Iraq war and the need to stay in Iraq?

on being in the dark
Another example... this one on our impending financial crisis, which was explored and explained by Kevin Phillips in the May issue of Harper's. Worth reading... gird your loins.
If you want a preview, he has a post up at Huffington, but it's very short by comparison.

@Bucky
Can lwm just trash people at will here? No facts at all?

Bucky,
Can you define that word, "fact"?
Generally, a fact is defined as something that is true, something that actually exists, or something that can be verified according to an established standard of evaluation.[1][2] There is a range of other uses, depending on the context. Often a fact will be claimed in argument under the implied authority of a specific pedagogy, such as scientific facts or historical facts. Dispute may arise in defining the standard upon which the authority of the fact rests. Rhetorical use of the term often does not disclose from where the authority originates.
The word fact derives from the Latin Factum, and was first used in English with the same meaning: "a thing done or performed", a use that is now obsolete.[3]
The common usage of, "something that has really occurred or is the case", dates from the middle of the sixteenth century.[4] Fact is also synonymous with truth or reality, as distinguishable from conclusions or opinions. This use is found for instance in the phrase Matter of fact,[5] and in "... not history, nor fact, but imagination."
Fact also indicates a matter under discussion deemed to be true or correct, such as to emphasize a point or prove a disputed issue; (e.g., "... the fact of the matter is ...").[6][7]
Alternatively, "fact" may also indicate an allegation or stipulation of something that may or may not be a "true fact",[8] (e.g., "the author's facts are not trustworthy"). This alternate usage, although contested by some, has a long history in standard English.[9]
Fact may also indicate findings derived through a process of evaluation, including review of testimony, direct observation, or otherwise; as distinguishable from matters of inference or speculation.[10] This use is reflected in the terms "fact-find" and "fact-finder" (e.g., "set up a fact-finding commission").[11]

The existence of the Newsletters is an established fact.
That the Newsletters had Ron Paul's name on them is an established fact.
That the Newsletters were managed, operated, written, edited and published by members of Ron Paul's family and some of his closest friends and advisors is an established fact.
That his family took in great sums of money as a result of those Newsletters is an established fact.
That the content of many of those newsletters that the Paul Family name was on and that the Paul family profited from was ful of the most virulent racist, sexist and homophobic garbage is an established fact.
Get over it. It's over.

It's odd and interesting
how you just get these flashes and glimpses of people and what they are thinking in these comments. I would love to be able to sit down in a group of all you folks and just talk for a while so I could come to a better understanding of what you are trying to say (especially the ones who bash on each other so much, with the back and forth stuff: so much passion and I think I could learn so much from both sides of the argument. I hear enough to sense that I cannot casually dismiss either side and would love to be able to engage the positions in depth so that I could learn what there is to learn). brightstar and adnoto, for example, so angry and almost hopeless; and those on the other side like LWM and others with their angry rejoinders; and folks like Patrick Morgan sort of in the middle, saying peace; etc. etc. I would love to see if adnoto and brightstar could really teach me that I am naive to hope change is yet possible because they system is well . . . the sytem(for there is much evidence on their side); and yet I see (as in the Chomsky quote earlier) that good things have indeed happened, and it makes me feel audacious, to allude to the famous Reverend W, and wonder if hope can make sense. And all you guys and gals get so angry with one another it makes me wince, but if that is what it takes to get the arguments out, then what the heck, I guess it is part of it.
Though I will say that the ad hominems are truly irritating, like fingernails on a chalkboard: but hell, times are strange and terrifying, and it makes sense to me that folks are losing their tempers.
Thanks to all sides and commenters and shouters and screechers and poets and thinkers and angry folk and dispassionate observers of whatever persuasion (and especially Glenn of course) for helping in my continuing education.
