Neocons and the truth: Bitter enemies to the end

The fact-free extremists who brought us the invasion of Iraq haven't gone anywhere and are busy trying to exert their influence before this administration ends.

The Forged Niger Documents

Among the many investigations into this administration that should be conducted is one regarding the origin and "discovery" of the forged Niger yellowcake documents.

While Michael Ledeen denies that he had any connection to the forged documents, he does not dispute that he wrote for Panorama and worked with the publication's Editor-in-Chief, Carlo Rossella. Panorama is the Italian magazine whose reporters first "uncovered" the forged documents.

Ledeen also had connections to SISMI, the Italian equivalent of the CIA, as did two other individuals linked to the documents, Rocco Martin and Francesco Pazienza.

Coincidences? Perhaps. But, considering that the forged documents provided the Bush Administration and the neocons with justification for the War in Iraq (the famous "16 words" in Bush's SOTU address in 2003), Ledeen's connections to SISMI and Panorama, and a purported meeting in Rome in December, 2001 with Ledeen, Nicolo Pollari, head of the SISMI, Antonio Martino, Italy’s Minister of Defense, Larry Franklin, already noted in Glenn's article, and Harold Rhode, a member of the Office of Special Plans, I believe that further investigation is warranted.

@ Mike Sulzer

but we did abort their democracy.

Indeed we did. As we do with any democracy that fails to genuflect properly in our direction.

@NotOrbitBoy

I don't know the entire history of who invaded who.

Ah, the old "spare me the details" argument. Listen, guy, if you don't know anything about this part of the world, and can't be bothered to do a couple web searches to at least grasp the basic outlines, on what basis do you come over here heaping scorn on others?

It's a serious question, though I'm not holding my breath for a serious response. What informs your opinions if not, you know... facts?

Taking out the authoritarian trash...

If we allow iran to develop nuclear weapons, are we then responsible for any ensuing use of those weapons?-- NotOrbitBoy

Was the rest of the world responsible when we (the only country on the face of the earth ever to use a nuclear weapon) used them against Japan?

NOB, why aren't you over in Iraq fighting the "good fight"? Seriously, why don't you head on over there so you can be one of the first they send into Iran. Too old? A bed-wetting little bitch? What is your excuse? Why aren't you over there?

@Iokannan in the Well

It's not typical of truly intelligent people to claim to know everything.

You and what army?

Saber rattling about Iran always leads me back to the same question. Regardless of whether you think Iran is a real and present danger, what are we gonna do about it? I actually think it's more likely for Iran to become a nuclear danger than it was for Iraq to become a nuclear danger, but with our troops spread so thinly in Iraq that we can't support the needs of Afghanistan, where are the troops coming from to attack Iran?

@quickstrategy

Bullies don't go on the offensive when someone they've terrorized gives them a nosebleed.

Also, more importantly, if there is even a hope of restoring any integrity to the institutions they've crapped all over, there needs to be a cleansing, using a strong abrasive.

I'm looking for more than a nosebleed. I want them totally bled out. Prosections for the crimes committed will serve both purposes. It will put a knife into the jugular of their plans and serve notice to the world that we know how to clean our own house. And yes, it will be abrasive, but absolutely necessary.

There, now we can eliminate 65 of the last 85 letters. Good work Glenn. Keep up the fight.

Truly Intelligent

It's not typical of truly intelligent people to claim to know everything.

It's also good to not start fights on topics you're not well versed in....

Don't use historical data in your arguments if you don't know the history, it makes you look silly.

I was arguing with a wealthy man in Newport once who told me Iran used to be decent when the Christian's were in charge, like the Shah.

What About The Saudis?

It's hilarious how these neocons CONTINUE to protect the Saudis. For Ledeen to claim that he "was years ahead of most experts in accurately portraying Iran's role as the terror master at the center of the jihadist network" is absurd. The 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden is Saudi. The majority of foreign fighters streaming into Irag have been Saudi. SAUDI ARABIA is the center of the jihadist network.

You've got a chip on your shoulder.

Israel can defend itself plenty well, and anyone who claims otherwise is trying to scare you.

You want to talk racist assumptions, how about the pitiful Jews need us big tough Christians to protect them from their bestial Arab?

It's pure nonsense, and your accusations of anti-semitism are insulting and racist.

@ 8:43 to 9:20. Talky Tina Pedinska?

You are a lion tamer. The roar I hear is from those who see your shiny sharp teeth.

The GOP are scared of cats, sheep, and crows who sit on their padded shoulders.

When they see Pedinska with pumps, a whip, and big white teeth, we hear, meow.

@QS, re: gross imagery

They all wear a political unitard. One size fits all.

This is projection on their part. They don't really spend a lot of time themselves on differentiation in politics. In fact, they want to force everyone into one single mold, of their making, of course.

Would that I had a blind spot right now....I've got this horrible image of these political 'tards in their unitards....GACK!

Electro Robot....

Read my post. Anti-semitism is stupid and wrong. I don't want to kill any Jews. But look in your heart and answer me--how many innocent Iranians are you willing to murder so that the POSSIBILITY, not the likelihood, not the inevitability, the simple possibility, for that's all that there is, of a nuclear exchange between the Israelis and the Iranians taking place?

Or are Iranians untermenschen? Because that's the way you talk about them.

@Pedinska

Your last post proves my point about triggering emotional responses. Might want to consult with arne, he seems to have some knowledge about prospective treatment.
