Ledeen is a Scholar of Fascism; Bushism = Fascist Scholarship Applied
From Wikipedia: "Earlier in his career, Ledeen authored Universal Fascism: The Theory and Practice of the Fascist International, 1928-1936, published in 1972..The book, which was his doctoral dissertation, was the first work to explore Mussolini's efforts to create a Fascist international..Ledeen follows Italian historian Renzo de Felice in drawing a distinction between "fascism-regime" and "fascism-movement", and seems to approve of at least one aspect of the latter, saying "fascism nevertheless constituted a political revolution in Italy. For the first time, there was an attempt to mobilize the masses and to involve them in the political life of the country", and describing the fascist state as "a generator of energy and creativity".[3]...
Ledeen is a strong admirer of Niccolò Machiavelli, whom he regards as one of the greatest political thinkers. In Ledeen's view, Machiavelli combined democratic idealism and the necessary political realism to secure and defend idealism in perfect measure."

Ledeen is a filthy parasitic liar fifth-columnist.

Ledeen is a snake
From his involvement to Iran-Contra to the present, Ledeen has labored for war unceasingly, yet is still accorded a seat at civilized tables. It would be wonderful if his role in the "present danger" could be fully exposed -- unfortunately we'll probably have to wait for the historians of the future.
He is smart, he is affable, he always sounds so "reasonable", all the while the drip drip drip of the poison goes on.

The power of nightmares
Adam Curtis has made an excellent documentary which analysis the so-called "War on terror". It's called "The power of nightmares".
Part 1 examines the origins of the Neocon ideology (and radical Islam), and it describes how Neocons ignore reality and facts in favour of their goals.
All parts are available on Google Video. If you haven't seen this, it's a must:

Conscience? We don't need no stinking Conscience....
Of course anyone who is in the business of advocating wholesale slaughter of innocents (which is the inevitable result of air campaigns) is not going to be terribly concerned about being caught in a lie.
In the grand scheme of things, concerns such as having your story straight or demonstrating integrety or self-awareness is for wimps.

flatblonde
About a month ago an excerpt from Sidney Blumenthal's book "The Rise of the Counter-Establishment: The Conservative Ascent to Political Power," documents the rise to power of Trotskyites.
Bamford's response to Ledeen's letter is here:

response_bamfords_report_on_selling_war_in_iran/2
I found this particular bit noteworthy:
With so little to challenge in the article, Ledeen spends much of his time defending himself against things of which I didn't accuse him, such as being employed by the Pentagon, and arguing over how many times he's been interviewed.

The ful court press for bombing Iran is on
Israel Ambassador on Fox this morning saying the Iran will have nukes BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR and Iran is a threat to civilization as we know it. AND Iran is preparing the next Holocaust.
The "before the end of the year" thing is obviously code for "before Bush/Cheney leave office."
Bush/Cheney have nothing to lose by bombing Iran -- they don't care how unpopular they are and they don't really care if other Repubicans lose elected seats. Not to mention they don't care about the deaths of thousands of people and the destruction of the American economy. History will be their judge -- approvingly, they think -- and their families and friends won't be hurt. So, not big deal for them AND they're saving civilization! One bomb at a time.
Is there anything that can be done to stop them at this point? Seriously?

It's mostly about Cheney but also discusses the rise of neoconservatism.

Mr. Greewald,
There aren't enough 'Winstons' around to alter the written record of their lies. It is fortunate that we have people such as yourself who are willing to expose the truth.
Speaking of truth, your column yesterday on McCain endorsing Bush's radical views was right on the mark. The question for me is how have the masses been convinced that they should give up their liberty for security. It all comes back to the elephant in the room, 9/11.
If Bush has admitted that he authorized his executive to come up with a plan to allow torture, would he really be concerned about killing a few thousand people on American soil, to facilitate his rise as a monarch?
The evidence is clear for anyone to see it. The virtual blackout by the mainstream media confirms it. The fact that the cause of 9/11 can not be debated factually and scientifically speaks volumes. Even supposed 'better quality' news sites such as the BBC will not touch the subject. Why?
Unfortuanately, they would have to confront the fact that the official story can not be supported, and that the Bush administration at least let 9/11 occur, if they did not plan it themselves.
An understanding of this event will let the people know the true character of the Bush administration, and it can therefore never become known by the public at large. Cheers. Keep up the fight.

The Soviet Union crumbled for unfettered military spending.
We've got next.
India and China love our two wars. They spend billions on infrastructure and we spend trillions on imperialism.
The U.S.! It's what for Asia's dinner!

Old axe to grind
Michael Leeden has some history, but what people may forget is that he was an intermediary in the Iran-Contra scandal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Ledeen
"Ledeen was involved in the biggest foreign policy scandal of the Ronald Reagan administration. As a consultant of National Security Adviser Robert C. McFarlane, Ledeen vouched for Iranian intermediary Manucher Ghorbanifar, and met with Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, and officials of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the CIA to arrange meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials and the much-criticized weapons-for-hostages deal with Iran that would become known as the Iran-Contra scandal."
This site also provides a lot of background on this war-monger as well.
http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/1261.html
"The first step in crafting a suitable policy toward Iran is to abandon the pretense that we can arrive at a negotiated settlement."
To Congress, March 2006
"I guess some top official will have to die at the hands of (obviously) Iranian-supported terrorists before the Pentagon is permitted to work on the subject" National Review Online , November 3, 2003)
Ledeen argued that war "provides a real test of character" and "creates a pool of leaders for the nation." Conversely, "peace increases our peril, by making discipline less urgent" and "encouraging some of our worst instincts" (quoted in Nation, June 12, 2006).
