Iran wants a really big bomb. I don't trust them. I can't imagine why anyone would.
It's not about "trust", it's about M.A.D. Iran's main incentive for acquiring a nuclear bomb is Israel's own nuclear weapons.
You don't trust a nuclear power, you manage it. Iran is trying to manage Israel. Israel can manage Iran, nuke or no.

Reply to Holly McLachlan
That's exactly my point. The average listener does not cut and paste. I don't think Glenn's an anti-semite, but I'm a youngster. Elderly Jews in this country remember when antisemitism was rampant in the US. Glenn's careless, ambiguous comments about Israel, combined with right-winger's merciless pandering to Jews, assures Republicans get the older Jewish vote come November.
Secondly, Glenn's ambiguity IS a sign of his criticism of the collective Jewish state (perhaps valid, perhaps not). That criticism should not be combined with criticism of Bush/neocons simply because one group uses the other when convenient. They are separate groups with very different agendas. Glenn is carelessly lumping them together, which is overly harsh to Israel and overly generous to neocons.
The point is, calling Bush a "Jew-lover" is not helping the liberal cause!

The image that comes to mind...
... is Bush as Slim Pickens riding a nucular bomb off the back of the plane, manipulated into dropping it and naively believing that he's somehow saving the world and his legacy when he's truly on the verge of annhilating both.
Another image is from either Bamford's or Risen's book, which describes the secret service nickname of Bush being "Charlie" and Cheney's "Edgar." In other words, the handlers recognized early on who the puppet was and who was pulling the strings.
NPod, and many others, have undoubtedly learned how to play this role as well so that in between the mountain biking, the brush cutting and the early bedtimes you can get him to disregard the Constitution he swore to uphold or even invade a country if you know the right strings to pull.
With his "daddy issues" as a backdrop and his batting average approval ratings in mind, the "legacy" has got to be an easy target now so that he'll do what they want him to do so long as they manipulate him into believing that he'll be viewed by history as if he were the pilot on the carrier.
In the upcoming Iran attack, just as with that "Mission Accomplished" moment, someone else is actually steering the plane, and pushing his buttons, while he believes he's saving the world by blowing up a small, extremely flammable, part of it.

Even a Jew

Can question the policies of certain hardliners in the government of the State of Israel and actions of the IDF.
But thanks for conflating the two.

Serves dummy Americans right.
At this point in American politics regarding what the neocon warmonger/imperialists/colonialists seek in West Asia,Central Asia and around Persian Gulf is a very expensive and ruinous level of American sourced, financed and trooped militarism.
Bush/Cheney regime really must envy powers Hitler gave himself for war and throwing world into depths of hell on earth. They are already war criminals so why not go for broke? Bastards.
One could hope that there were/was enough fact/truth based desire in Pentagon somewhere that would permit anywhere from five to perhaps as many as twenty Pentagon high-ups to just come out and denounce in plain street english that AEI is one phucked up bunch.
Congress seemingly so taken in by Israeli propaganda and raw political threats that it is not capable of speaking out about insanity of expanding American Iraq Debacle into Iran or across Persian Gulf.
This is insanity. Surely doing so will compel either Russia or China to engage. How can they not? Whether such engagement is overt or covert it must take place.
In ways that seem contrary one could almost conclude that these warmonger bastards will only be fully exposed for the frauds and puffed up little minded fools they are if all hell is let loose around Persian Gulf.
Americans just have not suffered enough yet since March 2003.
This American learning curve regarding these neocon maniacs is crazy slow.
Two hundred $$ a barrel oil? Hell--lets make it three or four or perhaps five hundred a barrel.
Serves dummy Americans right.

Notorbitboy,: WHat?
you said: "omooex talks about the PO'd arabs driven from their land, by the UN sanctioned creation of Israel."
I didn't say that. I offered a quote from the same wikipedia entry you used that explained that the Arab Muslim and Christian population outnumbered the Jewish in Palestine before Zionist sponsored immigration by a factor of nearly 8 to 1. The massive influx of Jews was opposed and yes, Arabs even had a war with Israel about it, because Israel ended up doing exactly what had always been feared--setting up an exclusive Jewish state at the expense of the native population.
Then you said:
"Israel has tried to provide a homeland for palestinians."
Yes, white South Africans tried to do the same with those African ingrates and see what they got for their troubles.

Bush = Greg Stillson?
Greg Stillson being the politician in The Dead Zone that Christopher Walken has a vision of, ending the world with a nuclear strike.
Someone with the handle 'Ms. Nienna', who posted on the old NYT forums, was more definitive:
George Walker Bush = 'Beware Gog. He lurks'.
George Walker Bush = 'Berserk - a huge glow'.
These are the only two instances where Ms. Nienna posted in anything other than dire biblical quotations. This is one sequence:
There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler
Ecclesiastes 10:5
Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child
Ecclesiastes 10:16
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20
For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
Micah 6:12
For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
Esther 8:6
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Isaiah 29:14
All of it addresses neoconservatism. Some people were terrified. She addressed me once. I didn't take her advice.
Here's hoping Bush actually lets us have an election this fall. He may not perceive it to be in his interest.
