Well, would you call Bill Kristol and intelligent advocate, or a troll?
I saw him coming off the White House grounds a while ago. He was grinning impishly as he thumbed his Blackberry or whatever it was.
Definitely a troll.

Salon.com is lacking in many ways...
... but Mr. Greenwald's column more than makes up for any shortcomings elsewhere on this site.
This is the one column that keeps me visiting Salon.com when much of this site is nothing but annoying.
-
One more coinage...
...inspired by reading a story about the WHCD.
Kool-aidboarding. What is it?
It's the reason that so-called reporters blithely repeat WH/Pentagon/GOP talking points without skepticism.
~ ~ ~
Picture the ad, full-page glossy magazine:
David Gregory (or almost anyone else in the Village) with a red smear on his upper lip, grinning and asking "Got kool-aid?"

Can I propose a contest?
Let's have a contest to come up with the best name for these generals and other officers who acted as Pentagon propaganda mouthpieces.
I threw out Propaganda Brigade just a moment ago, but I know there's something much funnier and more biting that we can come up with.

@ paulpsd7
Have I got that straight?
Nope. I'm for transparency from every commenter opining on the news. Why not, it's usually liberals that don't do well in the light of day.
That jibe aside, if they can do it for the financial networks, they can do it for the news. It would be easy and self-policing via the blogosphere research gnomes. Hand out a questionnaire to incoming analysts and if they fudge it, one side or the other will cry j'accuse, and tarnish that person's reputation forevermore.

nabalzbbfr: what a pathetic response!
nabalzbbfr, I asked you specifically when asking how withdrawal from Iraq would result in certain annihilation, to list details and specifics, not bullshit. But, I guess you go with the argument you've got:
How about $100/gal and $50/loaf of bread for starters? With the help of your pals Chavez and unreconstructed British leftist unions? Not to mention internal fifth coumnists (e.g ELF/Greenpeace/PETA/Congressional Democrats) who maliciously sabotage our energy independence initiatives like ANWR?
Okay, now you and I and everyone on here now understands that your claim about certain annihilation was the bullshit ranting of a paranoid delusional. But just in case you wanted to try again, let me throw you a bone here and sketch out how you might make your case.
Please explain the process by which withdrawal from Iraq "certainly" turns into $100/gallon gas. Extra points for a bullshit-free, well thought-out response. Please chart out an estimated timeline, and the types of events that would need to occur. And if you can't be specific and substantial, don't even bother as you'll only make more of a fool of yourself.
Okay, begin.

The madness of nabalzbbfr/anonymoose.
How about $100/gal and $50/loaf of bread for starters?
Already started, largely thanks to the occupation of Iraq.
With the help of your pals Chavez and unreconstructed British leftist unions? Not to mention internal fifth coumnists (e.g ELF/Greenpeace/PETA/Congressional Democrats) who maliciously sabotage our energy independence initiatives like ANWR?
'Internal fifth columnists'? Did someone rewind us back to the 1950s? Who the hell uses language or identifiers like that?
Come to that, who the hell thinks ANWR drilling leads to 'energy independence'?
I am not afraid to call a spade a spade.
Ah, good old fashioned prejudice.
I am sick and tired of Wright/Farakhan/Elijah Mohammed/MalcolmX apologists.
Of course you are. You prefer Reagan apologists.
Moreover in my second post above I outlined a perfectly reasonable path of rehabilitation for Obama.
Are you Chris Matthews? Are you trying to impose Victorian literature to the current day? Or do you simply lack such self-awareness you don't realize how useless you sound?

Kool-aid Brigade?
See my previous comment just before yours...

No truth from Shooter
Nope. I'm for transparency from every commenter opining on the news. Why not, it's usually liberals that don't do well in the light of day.
Your performance here notwithstanding.
Ok, so you're all for full transparency. So, please describe what you have done to further this cause. Be specific. Because, you know, if you just decided today that you're for this cause simply because it lends cover to your heroes, then you know what that makes you? (Starts with an "H".)
Also, I'm curious about one thing: since you're so hot for full disclosure, I can't understand why in this case (being a pretty grievous example of what happens in the absence of disclosure), rather than rant and rave about it, you have instead chosen to defend the lack of disclosure? ("They're all in bed with defense contractors, wha's the big deal?")
It really seems like you're for full disclosure, except in this case when you're against it.
Try again.

@ Holly
Hmmmm.... crickets.
In all that time has Glenn ever called for vetting anti-war or even generally lefty commentators? Not that I've seen. It's only conservative talking heads that prompt these screeds.
So.... it's reasonable to describe his characterization of Glenn's stance on this issue as... a lie. You know, that conscious, act of commission sort of thingie.
Feel free to disprove my observation if you can. Meanwhile let's see you call for equal treatment of talking head scrutiny. I predict partisanship instead.

Lighten up Greenwald
What did you expect Williams to say: "these guys are in the tank for the Iraq war, the military establishment and their opinions have been purchased by this network"?
Stop wasting our time with silliness.
-
@Mona - I drive my Porsche in my bathrobe
You should quote Williams for those who missed it or fotgot what he said about bloggers last year:
NBC’s Brian Williams on bloggers:
“You’re going to be up against people who have an opinion, a modem, and a bathrobe. All of my life, developing credentials to cover my field of work, and now I’m up against a guy named Vinny in an efficiency apartment in the Bronx who hasn’t left the efficiency apartment in two years.”
UPDATE: More Williams: “If we’re all watching cats flushing toilets, what aren’t we reading? What great writer are we missing? What great story are we ignoring? This is societal, it’s cultural, I can’t change it. We should maybe pause to think about it. Because like everybody else, I can burn an hour on YouTube or Perez Hilton without breaking a sweat. And what have I just not paid attention to that 10 years ago I would’ve just consumed?”

No elitist, he.
