Why the Jeremiah Wright story deserves more attention

Some problem-plagued nations could ill afford to devote so much time and energy to a matter of this sort. Thankfully, the U.S. isn't one of them.

What did you say, Shooter?

Nothing to see here, move along.

It's really funny to watch all the "religious right" hysteria turn to chagrined embarrassment when faced with the religious left's equally inane assertions. It's even funnier to see the Perez Hilton of the political blogosphere, reject discussing personalities. You can be sure the next time a Hagee is noted, this particular post will be proof positive that hypocrisy is alive and well on the left.

Anybody here remember "macaca" and how the left's insinuation of what that meant, ruined a Republican Senate campaign? While here, an overt racist speaks clearly, yet is dismissed as irrelevant?

Keep this up and you may give away the Presidency yet again.

What is it that you are trying to say there, Shooter?

Who is it that is supposed to "keep this up"? And what is that whomever it is you are speaking to supposed to "keep up"? Are you speaking to Glenn Greenwald? If so, how is Glenn Greenwald going to "give away the presidency"? If not, then I guess you are speaking to Joan Walsh and the many others who are pounding on the Wright controversy. But I don't think those are the people you are addressing your post to because you seem to be telling someone that putting the Wright controversy on low beam is, in your words, to "keep this up". So what I'm reading from you is two exactly opposite messages. One is that to put the Wright issue aside is to keep it up. The other is that to keep pounding on the Wright issue is to "keep it up". Either way, we lose? But then, I don't know who the 'We' is you are attempting to address.

The left's conspiracy will suffocate shooter.

Thank you Shooter for constantly reminding us why this country has so much to do to regain the high moral ground. "Macaca" is an insinuation from the left, but Wright is an overt racist so the right says. You are a born stand up comic! Keep us entertained until we get to the WH.

Fortitude, NOT in the Right's vocabulary?

While here, an overt racist speaks clearly, yet is dismissed as irrelevant?

Shooter

When was the last time Shooter's friends had the fortitude to call the multitude of racists on the Right RACISTS? Don't waste your time searching. It never happened, it will NEVER happened. Their identity is based on racism, that's why they are scared shitless to see an African American in the WH. Toilet paper anyone?

Kit says, "keep it up" to 242. err.

I missed Kitt ~ No bore of a commenter there. <~. Here It seems to include : suiban, doban, scrolls, bonsai, Stone critiques, carving Daizan, garden planting, landscaping, and various styles of suiseka. Wright? Right Kitt?

I'm still hush bound. shoo.

I enjoy the other's expertise.

This site is extensive learning.

It's good to suspend judgement.

Was Jeremiah Wright's speech set up by a Clinton supporter?

Bubba's wouldn't have had anything to do with this, would he?

Pure irony...exactly to the point

Great humor and irony. Even a completely fatuous story like this has its uses. Always look at the bright side of life.

The Silliness of Obama Supporters

Obama has told us how important he is to him. Wright has gone public with views, he presumably expounded in Church, that are riduculous, racist, anti-American and anti-Semitic. Obama is an inexperienced and unknown candidate. There is nothing unreasonable about the focus on Wright as a way to understand Obama and his truthfulness.

Where were all the Obama supporters when the Media to focus on trivialities surrounding Hillary.

a@ Slancio Exactly

Absolutely worth asking. The press conference which proved to be Wright's final undoing was organized by a prominent Clinton supporter, and Walsh just happened to be in the mood to share her concerns and profound sadness that very day.

Yeah. I think there is a a reason to ask what Joan knew about the national Press Club set up, and when she knew it.

Exactly

Finally! The voice of reason. Thank you Glenn. Could you possibly pass the hint along to your friends at Salon or Politico or NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, & MSNBC?

That would be great. Thanks.

I need an answer

I know the answer is obvious, but why does our liberal media never point out the fact that not only did Grandpa McBush III "accept" Hagee's endorsement, but actively and lovingly cultivated it?

I know the now stock footage of the unbalanced crazy and frothing avuncular black man in preacher regalia is the predicate for all things informational in American society, but when is that clip ever cleverly juxtaposed next to the Obama/Wright joint endorsement news conference appearance, you know, the one where Obama lionized and genuflected at Wright's altar of wisdom and knowingness?

Of course, there was no such Obama/Wright news conference, however, as savvy Glenn readers are keenly aware, there actually was a Hagee/McBush III media event where our brave hero (acknowledged heroism exemplified best by adulterously leaving his loyal wife after her disfiguring car accident after raising his children while he was in captivity for a soon to become narcotics addicted rich through alcohol profiteering a generation younger than he ingenue) lavishly heaped praise on the originator of such inspiring bromides such as the Catholic Church being the "great whore", and the devastation of New Orleans being the result of "God's Wrath" over a planned gay parade.

Yes. It's all clear to me now. Obama is a bad man because he never sought the endorsement of Wright (he DID, after all, baptize his daughters!), but Grandpa McBush III is a noble warrior for overtly, blatantly and actively begging for then touting the endorsement of a certified nut from nutty nutville.

How's this for a summary:

This constant coverage of Reverand Wright is (a) a distraction, (b) ridiculous, (c) tells us more about how the media views race than about Obama's character, (d) underscores the risks of involving religion in politics, (e) further underscores the double-standard the media applies to caucasian religious conservatives versus non-caucasians and (f) is about as important as the small fact the US military has quarantined the town of Piedmont, Utah.

Don't believe me? Look up www.whathappenedinpiedmont.com That should give you some idea of how seriously I rate this madness.

"an overt racist speaks clearly"

What has Rev. Wright said that was "racist?" Let's see if you can answer that without twisting the term to mean "any mention of race as a problem in America."

Tell me... do they have classes in forming the false equivalence, or is it something you wingers just pick up from each other?
