Ok, I'll bite.
When I think of Henry Ford I get misty eyed thinking about all the millions of people who were horrifically slaughtered by the Nazi regime which awarded him the highest award it bestowed upon civilians for his work in disseminating anti-Semitic propaganda.
Do they give Pulitzer's for stupid?
For anyone who is interested in having Obama as a contender, Noonan's observations are on the money. The only way he can move forward is to embrace the American experience, and leave the truly "bitter" behind.
This would be the same Peggy Noonan who claimed that God directed a school of dolphins to rescue young Elian Gonzales out of the Gulf of Mexico, right?
As for the "bitter" element, I'd think anyone who would emigrate below the Mason-Dixon line as you have would be exposed to such feelings daily, shooter242. This is, after all, a region where lynching is still considered a favorite pasttime.
Fortunately the rest of us are a little more evolved.
that thinks that the 5 Things sidebar is ridiculous.
But back to the main point: I don't know why I'm still surprised when Glenn outs another media figure as a right-wing shill, but it's still amazing to me.
Don't the media outlets see the end result of their bad "reporting"? Perhaps there is a correlation between what they show on the news and their ratings? I had a friend argue with me a couple weeks ago that the reason "news" shows had to report things like Obama's bowling score and the latest Spears family shenanigans because they needed to boost their ratings. That the American people "want" to see these things and it's the only thing keeping the news stations profitable. (I will be giving him Glenn's book when I'm done with it). I think it's pretty obvious why news ratings have fallen: the American people are either going elsewhere for news (blogs, online magazines, etc), because the MSM sure as heck ain't giving it to us- or they have just given up completely and stopped watching and don't have the initiative/means to look elsewhere
All Mona Charen could come up with is Barak Obama doesn't love his country. These stooge support systems don't DO anything. Name one major accomplishment of the conservative movement in the last 7 years. Smaller government? States Rights? No Nation building? Abortion rights legislation? What a ruse. That's all they have left is to look down their noses hoping that they can with all of their wisdom make a Dean Scream moment happen. Guess what it hasn't happened yet. Poor little conservatives just have to whine and protect each other. Time for regime change of our own folks.
This post actually explains a lot about the msm's current tactics and why they are fighting so hard. They must denounce a man who's taken the lead in bringing new technologies and consequently, through them, new voters into the political spectrum. It's a final cry for the old guard. Obviously, the next election will be fought in a different arena, but for now the old and new are battling it out. As these aging cretins spout their simplistic neo-babble, they are simply lamenting the demise of a free ride into gullible land. Thanks to Mr. Greenwald and others using the net to make the truth available, the ride's almost over. Keep it up Glenn.

Hitler was an admirer of American mass production techniques and an avid reader of the antisemitic tracts penned by Henry Ford. "I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration," Hitler told a Detroit News reporter two years before becoming the German chancellor in 1933, explaining why he kept a life-size portrait of the American automaker next to his desk.
Also a lovely AP photo with the following description
German diplomats award Henry Ford, center, with their nation's highest decoration for foreigners, the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, in July 1938.
Not just an American hero, a Nazi hero too.
I hereby declare myself in the penalty box for 2 minutes for Godwinning this thread.
"You're going to be up against people who have an opinion, a modem, and a bathrobe."
Modem? A freaking MODEM fer chrissakes? Welcome to 1992. He don't know nothing about them computin' machines. Ain't they used mostly on space ships?
I guess you need one to search on 'teh Google'...
One thing I have noticed more of since I started reading Glenn's posts is how many of our pre-eminent "news personalities" never completed college. I just did a search on Brian Williams and found out that he attended three different colleges but never graduated. Yet this hack was able to become the White House correspondent for NBC and eventually its lead anchor. Other notable college drop-outs include Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck and Sean Hannity. Coincidence?
Of course, a college education does not guarantee that an individual will be any better at her job (see, e.g., future Pulitzer Prize winner Peggy Noonan). Frankly, I am not certain that a person with a journalism degree is a better "news personality" than someone without one. The main problem with the current crop of "news personalities" seems to be that they have not been exposed to the need for critical thinking.
Anyone who takes Peggy Noonan seriously is a fool.

Henry Ford wanted the US to join forces with Nazi Germany is WWII and opposed US efforts to enter to the war and to provide aid to the Allies before that.
The Ford factories in Germany helped build the Nazi war machine with slave labor, and I'm fairly certain if I recall correctly that the one(s) in France did the same.
