"The point, of course, ...

"... is that weapons of disgusting lethality, originally developed to fight nations with equally devastating weaponry on an equal basis have come increasingly to be used against the defenseless. We not only excuse this, we positively delight in it. Watch an hour or two of the Military Channel if you find that difficult to accept." -- Timberman

The use of devastating weaponry against the helpless innocents goes back to the start of the country at least. Further, Americans have used 'total war' since Lincoln and his band of merry men developed the concept --- many military men over the generations studied that little development and put it to use in the service of their own nefarious desires.

So, we see yet again that those who support a large, powerful central government do in fact support the killers among us. The central government is a street gang of doped-up-tuffs writ large.

Are you sure?

omooex... My god, I've stayed out of the Brown issue

Not since I've been here but it's not your fault. You have met the cabal and they have ensnared you in their quagmire of filth and warmongering!

"not since I've been here"

By that, I take it you mean since LWM has been here.

"Up until the point that I retired in 1991, ...

... the senior rank ass kissers were in the minority."

I know from a couple of military ass kissers that the senior rank ass kissers have always been in the majority. I suppose that the degree of ass kissing could be argued, but one I am related to has said since his retirement (early 80s) that all brass are craven politicians.

Consider the number of military men over the 20th century willing plan and conduct the killing of any women and children in some god forsaken backwater if the leadership ordered it.

-- Retired Military Patriot

The History Channel and The Military Channel both do a decent job with some of their programs highlighting military life, although The Military Channel tends to "glorify" the "elite" forces such as Rangers, Green Beenies, Seals, etc.

One thing that does require some attention, and this relates to the Air Force discussion regarding their budgetary struggles, and it just burns my butt to see each and every service decide they need a "Special Ops" department...which is precisely what the Goldwater/Nichols reorganization was supposed to stop.

Why does the USAF need Air Commandos (or whatever they call them) when both the Army and Navy both have SO organizations? (Of course, a Marine will tell you that ALL Marines are SO qualified, LOL)

This coincides also with my earlier comment about buying F-22's by the gross to fight "terrists" while at the same time making the trash haulers pull their hair out trying to upgrade the C-130/type airframe.

It just doesn't make sense from a taxpayer money standpoint but makes excellent sense if one is on a USAF career path.

@ Derbig

Nah, don't bother on my account. Omooex is right, it's better dropped. I'd rather talk about whiskey or zoomy vehicles anyway.

Gosh, Bucky! Nothing gets past you!

Thursday, April 24, 2008 03:39 PM

the purpose of the cabal

... is to disrupt any discussion of the murderous nature of our central government. Our resident socialists want a strong government ready for the day their side resumes control. The cabal here in UT is a pathetic little group of retired white guys who could not argue their way in to a whore house with a trunk load of hundred-thousand-dollar-bills.

Note: I had to give away my Bruce Springsteen tickets yesterday, but my friends say the Boss was hot last night; hence the reference to one of his songs.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 03:43 PM

Oh, bucky

Well, if you won't talk about whiskey, maybe you'll tell us what color you are, and how many whorehouses you've visited. That might be fun.

OT: Newshour cuts off "military analyst" story just as it was getting interesting

Judy Woodruff, true to form as usual, became annoyed that the fellow representing the side of Truth, Justice, and the American Way kept calling out the Zellnick fellow on the side of Darkness, who said over and over again that there was nothing new in the Times story, these things were perfectly routine and hardly shocking or illegal at all.

So she said they were out of time. Cut.

Piffle.

(All the networks and the Pentagon declined to appear.)

PBS -- Propaganda Broadcasting Service

Thursday, April 24, 2008 03:44 PM

Oh, bucky continued

You don't have to tell us how old you are, of course.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 03:48 PM

Why?

Apart from the morality or legality of anything the military has done under Bush, the amazing thing is how willing to sacrifice itself as an institution the Army has been under Bush.

One thing I am sure the Army (as an example) is acutely aware of and eager to influence is its fortunes as an institution.

And the US Army's reputation as an institution, a military institution is very important to it. And there must be people in it how know just how, and just how damaging to it, the things that Bush is doing will be.

Apart from any particular tactic or strategy, why was the US military (Army in particular, I guess, cause they will pay the price) so willing to sacrifice its institutional reputation, and possibly even its ability to go on functioning in certain ways, for Bush's political benefit. And gee, it didn't even accomplish that!

@bucky1 OT

Sorry you had to give your Springsteen tickets away! I was at the Tampa concert with two of my children (down in the pit, as they call it). It was an incredibly moving show, with everyone (including the crowd) seeming to put all their heart into it. An amazing kind of wake (irish style) for Danny Federici. I will never forget it.
