  • GC, I'm fairly certain

You just spoiled my appetite for "pigs in a blanket".

Some huge ice-shelf collapsed into the Antarctic yesterday. And 90+% of the bats are dying. And I'm gonna go eat some Toad in the Hole.

Goodbye, cruel world. Mean bloggers. Whatever.

  • Retired Military Patriot

I lost a church member this week in Afghanistan. IED.

He leaves behind two children and a wife, seven months pregnant.

When I hear someone talk about lives lost in vain, I wonder how many more die for vanity.

  • @aycharaych

Of course I wasn't goading you. I thought about putting in the qualifier, "if you can afford it," but people are smart enough to know when the shoe fits and when it doesn't. Well most Repug thugs can't. The quality of people who regularly post here, can. The thugs are so busy concentrating on their ego and finding any means to justify themselves, that they don't care what happens in anybody else's shoes.

  • "Nobody gets rich touting the interests of the poor ..."

You've obviously never heard of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, then.

Now, as for what they've actually done for the poor, that's another matter.

  • For 'A' and piece of cake.

I'll check to see if good 'ole mountain girl is the Salon date "seeker"... heh.

Someone named mountain girl wears orange flip flops to the White House.

A mountain girl will chase a chipmunk who runs into a mountain rock pile.

Now, I'm not looking for a bad date, or a argument. A love Mountain Girl's name.

It's not to belittle. If an obese city girl pinched big belly folks, it be a compliment.

It would be to bebigging someone? I am Not belittling William Timberman either.

  • @Mountaingirl: Cruelty is fun, for certain people.

The problem with the Limbaughs and Coulters is that they have fun indulging in their hatred in the same way that cruel children have fun pulling the wings off of flies.

  • I'm not talking about cruelty -

a little bit more irony - perhaps?

  • @DemoChristian

Good point. You have to be incredibly vain to be the thug leaders and then be so oblivious to the real consequences of instigating and continually backing the worst decision any American commander-in-chief ever made. I don't think they even understand humility or humaneness.

  • colbert and stewart -

understand all of this and i only can repeat if you take a clown like Limbaugh seriously you are dead - Didn't McCain call him a clown?!

  • @klooster

You've obviously never heard of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, then.

Peanuts compared to the money spread around by the right-wing noise machine -- and the influence exerted on our national discourse.

  • To DemoChristian. Thanks for sharing that sad reality. and @ 9:04's sentiments, I agree.

I hold my face between my hands, I am crying. I express my regrets. Please know it.

    `

To see a World in a Grain of Sand

And a heaven in a Wild Flower,

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand

And Eternity in an hour. by William Blake

    `

I'll go to pick Daffodils in the name of Love's Memory.

  • demo -

i'm really sorry my letter "mixed" with yours -

    I'n deeply sorry.

  • @ LWM Rough Men

There is another infamous misquotation. When Bush was sworn in and was asked, do you swear to uphold and protect the constitution? He replied, "I do."

Actually buhs said, "Screw you!" LOL

  • @klooster

Would you care to define "rich" in this case, i.e., Jackson and Sharpton?

Be sure to distinguish income specifically derived from said "touting" vs other income earned more honestly.

  • Thank you all

I believe my friend will sleep until he reaches heaven.

His family and all America need for the madness to end.

  • Part of the problem is that we play along ...

Remember when both Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter said they would not only endorse Hillary Clinton over McCain, but campaign for her? We took them at their word and used it as evidence that Hillary was really a Conservative bitch in disguise. Endless liberal sites repeated that meme - "Here is proof that Hillary is a monster".

Now Limbaugh is executing his "Operation Chaos" to weaken the Democratic candidates and help McCain win. So now the new meme is that once again Hillary is the true bitch behind it all and she must drop out of the race immediately. Doesn't anyone see that Limbaugh is running two completely contradictory memes? Yet we willingly play along and work ourselves into a frenzy to blame it on our own side. This is sick.

  • The American howler monkey

As long as America has a free press and free speech we will have to learn to ignore the howler monkeys. The first newspapers in the Colonies were partisan newspapers who often said extremely outrageous and questionable things. It only picked up when the Republic was formed and it has not let up to this day. People of good conscience, and most Americans are, have to let the monkey howl so we all know what a stupid person looks like. We need to see their hairy, feces covered butts as they scream and spit on passersby. This is what pluaralism looks like.

The reason its so prevalent on the airwaves is because the media is biased toward one thing and one thing only, money, and if it smells it sells. But I think most Americans know better. The howler monkeys have some devoted zombies that hand on every word but these people are a small minority. The only thing we have to fear from them is when a pack of them decide it's time for revolution and they get violent. It will happen, sooner rather than later, and that will be the end of the "conservative movement" for at least a half century.

So fret not, correct 'em when they're wrong, and be sure to duck when the dittoheads take to the street.

  • Cruelty

Some people deserve cruel treatment.. Like bullies for instance..

I have absolutely no problem savaging a bully, physical or intellectual, I even enjoy the process.

And make no mistake, those on the right are intellectual bullies and would be physical bullies too.

Afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.

  • all these coulters, limbaughs, etc -

are just "mechanic entertainers" and "soulless clowns" and

the best bet to beat them - is laughing them of - of every stage.

  • nothing -

is more devastating for a "right-winger" than the thought he will not be taken serious!

  • The thing is ...

... I have no use for Ann Coulter (and an amazing number of conservatives don't, either), and I don't listen to Limbaugh (some of us have to work during the day).

But it's comical to see everyone ignore their own noise machines in the form of Keith "this is the special finger" Olbermann, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Bill Moyers (and the whole NPR/PBS gang), the NY Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, LA Times, et. ad nauseam.
