See, you confuse someone saying things you disagree with to their "spewing hate." It's the ultimate fallback of the simple-minded. Can't process an adequate counter-argument so simply dismiss it as "hate." After all, who has to try to argue with blind hatred. The thing is, they actually present arguments and facts. Disagree with them and disprove them if you can, but it's just facile and lazy to simply dismiss it as "hate."

Anne Coulter hatred. Yeah, I agree. Limbaugh? C'mon, the guy's an entertainer. A clown. He's actually funnier than Jon Stewart, because he doesn't take himself seriously or try to be hip.

And Moyer in particular has spewed hatred of conservative Christians, as has Garrison Keilor, who said they should be denied the vote.

Funny how no one at Salon gets worked up over that.

i think most of you assume that Glenn is some 'liberal/progressive' because he so often focuses his effort on the right wing demagogues. I must disagree. I'm about as conservative as they come and I fully support and appreciate Mr. Greenwald's reasoned posts. My belief is that Glenn's purpose is purely to eliminate the obstacles that prevent substantive debate in this country. I don't believe that he implicitly supports the messages of the 'liberal noise machines'.

  • Broken URLs

The search for a persistent or permanent resource locator is much like the search for the Holy Grail. The problem isn't that the locator is ephemeral; the problem is that the entire Web is ephemeral. Many librarians and other interested parties have worried publicly about this for years. The Wayback Machine notwithstanding, this is a problem which is guaranteed to leave bitemarks on our trusting asses for decades to come.

  • Bill Owen

It is your retinas and your browser cache and your ass that gets to explain to your wife or a jury. You can do with them what you want.

When was the last time anyone went back and read Glenn or anyone from 2 years ago?

I do it all the time.

And besides, you are wrong, I design web sites inter alia, and I can tell you that a link to a newspaper or blog is MUCH more transitory than a link to tinyurl. They often break.

If the original link is broken so is the tinyurl. You are only adding one more possible point of failure.

And finally, you can call Aych or anyone here an "idiot" if you like, but you will find few "idiots" here, and most certainly Aych is not one of them. But he can, and probably will, speak for himself.

I don't think Aych or anyone here is an idiot, but my limited communication skills prevent me from expressing what I am actually talking about with out rickrolling people to some pictures they will NEVER forget.

The internet is a dark place. HARD and NASTY. One day you will know what I am talking about and you will call yourself an idiot.

Tinyurl is the work of the devil.

  • One more lengthy URL solution...

...that I've actually seen in these threads, probably by either sysprog or powwow.

Just put in a return or two and allow the URL to appear on more than one line. Alternatively, instead of a return, you can put in a [br] tag and it will not leave any extra line spaces. (Just replace the square brackets with less-than and equal-than signs.)

For example, here's one that's not too long, but that might be of interest...

    http://action.firedoglake.com
    /page/petition/mccainfec

    I used the break tag.

It takes slightly longer to paste it in, but then there are no unwelcome surprises, and and it fits in the typical screen size.

  • Please... give it a rest

Anne Coulter hatred. Yeah, I agree. Limbaugh? C'mon, the guy's an entertainer. A clown. He's actually funnier than Jon Stewart, because he doesn't take himself seriously or try to be hip.

Limbaugh is a well-backed demagogue who pulls out the "I'm just and entertainer!" line whenever he's called on his more out-of-control vomitus. The guy should have been hounded off the air when he referred to the President's daughter as a dog (+10 years ago). Any mere, simple entertainer would not have survived doing that without losing his career. Limbaugh continues to be on-air for reasons that have little to do with his ability to entertain. (And he hasn't been terribly funny for years now.)

I've listened to both Limbaugh and Stewart over the years, and I find Stewart the funnier of the 2, however, a lot of his humor comes through non-verbal delivery. He can cock an eyebrow like no one else on TV right now.

And Moyer in particular has spewed hatred of conservative Christians, as has Garrison Keilor, who said they should be denied the vote.
Funny how no one at Salon gets worked up over that.
    -- Klooster

You're whining about a couple of public 'intellectuals' whose audience base can barely work up the strength to drive to a sit-in. When their devoted listeners can tear themselves away from their Martha Stewart lives -- then I'll worry about Moyers' or Keillor's occasional retributive bursts of spleen.

I have always done thus; I think she has the best solution.

An excellent point at 10:30. The "infinity minus one day" view of copyrights that has infected our legislators by the repeated inhalation of aerosolized mouse droppings is also a big part of the problem.

  • @klooster: Moyers and Keillor as "haters"?

And Moyer in particular has spewed hatred of conservative Christians, as has Garrison Keilor, who said they should be denied the vote.

If you can honestly describe Moyers and Keillor as "haters," you may just be too hyper-sensitive (and hypocritical) to ever leave your fainting couch.

Compared to the likes of Coulter, Limbaugh, Savage, Malkin, et al, those guys don't even register on the Hate-O-Meter.

  • Sat.Night live had a character who gossiped and then said, "But you didn't hear that from me".

This is how the MSM operates and these right wing sites while always keeping the rumors or lies going. The press has become a propaganda tool for this administration and the GOP because that is who owns them and where they get their financial support. They have long since lost the public's trust because of the poison they spew yet the loudest voices try to make it seem they represent the majority of Americns with their perspectives. They don't, they are just loudest.
