Jebbie
Pedinska smells more like Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy.
Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, the muskrat lady housekeeper
I do not smell like a muskrat.
That is Elyria in your nose. ;->

What's it going to take?
We've all been watching the worst "fog job" in recent history take shape...the Iraq war,the 2008 election, etc. The chaotic nature of this circus is hard to follow for even the most fervently interested individual. As for the rest of the voting public, it's ignorance as usual, and another wasted election- another 4 or 8 years of precious time we can't afford. The standard fare being dished out in this political cafeteria is "A" or "B"...meatloaf or turkey. Neither is healthy for America, but who cares in Washington? There's an "open pocket" policy there...YOUR pocket. Iraq is just the tip of the iceberg. Unless we get behind a real candidate who truly cares about the future of our nation and its contributions to the world, there will be true "change" in America. Unfortunately, it won't be the change we had in mind. It's sad to me that the only man who has a handle on today's reality, Ron Paul, has been handicapped in this race by the fears of others. He is the wise old teacher and mentor we desperately need now, even if you may agree with everything he says.
In the world, America is the spoiled teenager with a pocket full of money, a big mouth, no respect and lots of advice for others. What would a good dad do with this kid? It's time for a "sit down" at the kitchen table. Ron Paul is the man for the job. What can we ALL do to get him back in the game?
-
What who wants, shooter242?
since we are in this, we should give the Iraqis a chance to grow into nationhood. Fair, no?
Depends. Are you still committed to forcing the people in that geographic region to form a 'nation' called Iraq, or are you committed to actually hearing their demands that the US leave their territory and let them to decide their own affairs?

What cannot be spoken isn't necessarily ignored
If television doesn't talk about what people see and hear when they aren't watching television, what then?
With apologies for the anecdotal evidence, my carwash/coffee house, my doctor's office, the Jury Assembly Room at my County Courthouse all have flat panel TVs, all tuned to Fox News all the time, 24/7/365.
Lately, I've noticed that most people in these waiting areas are reading papers or books, checking their cell phones, conversing with one another, or typing away on their laptops, while the big brother bullshit on the wall goes unheeded. This is something new, no more than a year or so old.
D'ya think it might mean something?

Shooter
But has the nation had that conversation? Are we willing to accept a certain number of terrorist deaths as normal, like we do traffic fatalities? If it's discussed and accepted I can roll with it. I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page and understands the risks involved.
Your problem is that you only want to discuss part of an issue. The other part is about the administration's illegal activities that the telecoms were involved in.
If we're going to have discussions, then let's be honest and discuss the entire issue. One of the risks is the destruction of our 4th Amendment rights.

"Return on success" revisited...
From Paul Dirks' McClatchy linky
Mortar rounds crashed into the heavily fortified Green Zone for the third straight day, injuring three U.S. government employees, all U.S. citizens, said U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Mirembe Nantongo.
-
Now I'm for it....
Ron Paul is NOT, I repeat NOT the droid you're looking for. He isn't in the game for the very good reason that he doesn't understand it, or have anything to offer anyone except septuagenarian kink.
There... If nothing else, that oughta knock shooter off the front page for a while.

@shooter
In the argument between which was better between those choices, you voted in favor of a murderous, lying, theiving, torturing, killing, maiming, dictator. OK, fine. At least be man enough to acknowledge that preference
We are arguing whether or not our own country did a grievous wrong by invading another country... such a grievous wrong that we took one of the most fucked up countries on Earth and made it, by any measurable standard, even worse.
But you consistently want to force the argument into a framing of your own choosing. You are so wrong that I will even except your framing... given that you do as well. By your own definition of the argument, you voted in favour, as has been repeatedly pointed out by one of your fellow posters - of "mass murder, ethnic cleansing, institutionalized torture, political and social repression" not to mention the complete devastation of the physical and civil infrastructure of an advanced, modern nation.
Will you be "man enough" to acknowledge that preference, tough guy?

JackieBinAz.
Is W.T. over at your place today? You clarify his thoughts. You and others help me realize how lost a person can be and somehow.... Pundits allow the depravity-laden one to hide behind a frock.
To free the mind, ladies and gentlemen need to START Free the mind. One lie will infect.
A lie hurts the person who lies. It's to infest, and a slow decay, and/or a rot begins. We lie, but our inwardness is informed of the LIE.
This is what I mean. A body is form.
We/me, in-form-appear, as we are.
We-in-form our lives. To lie is folly.
We/me are a composite: Mind, body,
Psyche! Tripartite? Maybe much more!
A person, as a plant, tree, flower, or fruit....
Ought to anticipate growing ripe. "Ripeness."
'Ripeness" in a term in act V, scene 2, of King Lear.
The read of W.S. : In which Edgar says to his father:*
*
*Men must endure
Their going hence,
even as their coming hither,
Ripeness is all.*
`
By "ripeness" Edgar means a perfect readiness for death, and in his sentence echoes "The readiness is all" in act V, scene 2, of Hamlet. In the Wheel of Life, humans, need to live in a manner that allows "ripeness" and biological growth ~ the idea of a human soul, and in accord with the knowledge of the time. And it also teaches a bit about eternity in preparation for death.
Memory.
To live in community. It's our "common responsibility." Chief Justice of Vermont writes as in living "in fulfillment"..... "to imagine humanity the heart can recognize." It's impossible to know everything in order to do and live well.
Progress in science or any field in never complete.
This analogy can be in relation to a fertile, healthy, backyard Field tended well...oiko.
`
What is or What should be our Life's goal and work? The ancient norm was to find one's unique 'particular' and none will have the same particular exact 'lifestyle' or thoughts of another human. Faithfully follow one's conscience. I sound like elmer gaffe again. The idea is that Falsehoods never benefit Anybody. Never.
The open talk NOW about tragedy, absurdity, and moral horror is the Only Way a freedom happens, or an extension of heath in a person, or society. Open Discussion. It is a possibility!
The IDEA is critical criticism is essential or a national DEMENTIA occurs. The right-wing & left-wing should be grateful, and to NOT open to the critical importance... ? ... is suicidal, so-to-speak. Glenn's service can't be disregarded.
Or, IMHO. peril
(I gleaned some of Wendell Berry)
Thanks JackieBinAz.
