Props to Chris Matthews
Credit where credit is due - he made this a topic of discussion on today's Hardball.

FREEDUMB!!!
I would like nothing better than for every poster here to post only as themselves
No Surveillance or Police State!
I suggested to Salon that everyone be kept to just one screen name, but that idea got nowhere. I would like to see a list of handles from each IP where there is more than one
That's why we love you, Bucky! It's okay, as long as the gummint do do it!

@Ondelette
Thanks for your concern, while I've had some tough ones, this was not too bad, the tooth was halfway out, and broken (or was broken during extraction) But the catch was: the infection apparently makes the novocaine almost ineffective; it took four big ampules, and we never got it more then about %80 numb. But out it came, and the socket and stuff seems to be okay. Yeah I've had some toughies, complete with sectioning the tooth and the use of a crowbar, but this wasn't too bad.

Jesus Frickin Christ Playing Hopscotch on a Pogo Stick!
That sarcasm sounds suspiciously like LWM's writing style when he uses his Timberman handle.
-- casual_observer
Look man, are you fuckin' slow? Try to register yourself as me and post under my name! Do you get the point? Try it, be my guest, and write a post with my handle!
This is getting sad, sad. I'm sorry, but this is just sad!

A credible number for Iraqi dead is 650,000. It may be as high as 1.2 million.
'"Even" 30,000 is too many for nothing but a lie and dream of empire.'-- Bill Owen
The Iraq war in Gulf War I under Bush I, the 8 years of sanctions and bombings under Clinton I, and now invasion and brutal occupation under Bush II. I think we were over a million back during the brutal sanctions during the Clinton administration.
We are easily at 2 million dead over the 14 year period. Imagine what we would have done to them if they had not been a long time ally!

@ Timberman -- Lots to say maybe
Hmmm, there may be just a little more to say. The sub-heading also includes the phrase, "the false Iran/al-Qaida link".
I suppose how much verbiage cum discussion that we would care to expend is proportional to how seriously one takes the threat of the putative attack on Iran.
Does anyone here disagree that this would be a disaster? The consequences of an attack on Iran are: the probable closing of the Strait of Hormuz, the sinking of an American capital ship or ships with hypersonic Mosquit and or Silkworm anti-ship missiles, a larger regional war, war in the Lebanon, and perhaps intervention on behalf of the Iranians from the Chinese and the Russians. I could go on.
No, it's a really bad idea, and one that must be strangled in its infancy.
Some people say that America would not attack Iran, because that is crazy. Other people say that an attack on Iran is probable precisely because America is crazy.

@ Derbig
It was a joke, son. (I think. Only the observer knows for sure.) I checked my passport, and it doesn't say L.W.M. I do have a Ron Pauliac tee-shirt though, packed away in mothballs against the day when the sage of Lake Jackson runs again.

"Buckyl, I knew your best self would show eventually,"
When may we expect yours?
Buckyl, believe me, I would never try to compete with a man who can make computers do the kind of tricks you can. I won't even try. Why should I when I can post under your name at my leisure, making people think you are as stupid as me. You won't like that Bucky, you won't like it. Just keep checking your "read other letter" file. Or waitaminute, should you be checking mine?
No Bucky, there's no competing with you.
Bucky, does there spirit of avarice reside in there with your political discretion? Post a comment under my name and I will send you 100 dollars, and remove my registration under your name.
If you don't post a comment under my handle well then, all bets are off.

derbig
Mooser, my comment was a joke. It was a jest. Take it easy.
-
@Casual Observer
You don't get what I'm driving at, do you? Does anybody else care to explain it to him and Bucky? I give up.

@ Bucky --- Statistics
2 million is not out of the question, but it is not a number that the American public could ever come to terms with. But neither is 650,000 for that matter, nor the 3 million Vietnamese. They have been turned into red mist, smoke and released into the stratosphere.
Herr Eichmann may have been right when he said, "One hundred dead are a catastrophe, a million dead are a statistic."
Oppenheimer knew the score, "I have become death, the destroyer of worlds".

All the Best
Well, I hope we've seen an example of your best, today Buckyl, cause it's quite a show.

@WT
I checked my passport, and it doesn't say L.W.M.
William Timberman
Jeez Bill, I haven't got a passport! Wait, I'll go check my license. Gosh, I hope LWM has a motorcycle endorsement, if not I'm in trouble.
William, have you ever seen anything like this?

TO: All, sockpuppets included...
Please, please, PLEASE....
STFU!!!!!
I came to this site becuase it provided the best critical analysis available of the most important issues of our time. But now, as all of you do your best imitations of 5th graders, the signal-to-noise ratio drops lower and lower. Unless someone sells a content-analyzer/filter, I'm just going to stop reading after the first 20 posts...WTF is WRONG with all of you? This thread is making SHOOTER sound reasoned and thoughtful, for God's sake!!!
Rant off...
BTW, I use the same handle everywhere- guess I'm not part of the "cool" group...

Derbig
Does anybody else care to explain it to him and Bucky? I give up.
-- Derbig Mooser
Casual O knows what you mean, and Casual O was joking. bucky1, on the other hand, is insane. That's all there is to it. He thinks people can post under another person's all ready in use handle. That is not possible. Bucky1 lives on some other planet.
