@derbig
hee hee. I did not know that. Even our current pilot-in-chief doesn't have such an event in his record.
-
LWM
mmm, that's funny, I'd always suspected that LWM and Timberman were the same poster, but what do I know (or, in fact, care)

Maybe our poor, innocent, objective, serious reporters don't want to anger the beast and watch their careers go in the tank, along with McCain's expertise? i.e. McCain's Temper
To challenge McCain is to potentially face his "vicious temper". Would you want to be the intrepid reporter that really goes after McCain and asks real questions, only to end up getting an earful of McCain's "famously" bad temper?
How would the media report that? Would it be reported as "fearless journalist stands up to McCain and questions his lies"? Or will it be reported as "Lovable War Hero, Everybody's Friend, Always Serious and Knowledgeable, Manly Man, and all around Perfect, smart, and uber-tactical Super-American John McCain puts a Disrespectful anti-American Nancy Boy Pacifist Effeminate Liberal Reporter in its place"?
What would the important establishment politicians and media peeps (that said intrepid reporter mingles with and sucks up to at happy hour) think if he or she was to be forever known thereafter as "the unserious reporter that McCain went off on"? How would that "embarrassment" affect your career? (i.e. would your career be over as you are forever remembered as "the reporter who pissed off Lovable War Hero and Everybody's Friend John McCain"?)

@buckyl
Okay, Bucky pal, you just said that LWM uses my handle "Derbig Mooser" and impersonates me. If that were true, it would considerably lower my opinion of him. Would you be so good as to indicate or quote in entire those posts you believe were written by LWM under my name? I'm sure you can do this, or you would not have made the statement. And I'm very sure I will recognise my own comments or not, as the case may be.
The last thing I can expect is that you made this charge with no proof of any kind at all. I know you just wouldn't do that.
You can do it here or E-mail me. I'd like to know how low LWM can go, Bucky, and you are just the guy to show me.

@omooex
Bucky beat me to it. Don't forget Ron Pauliac, that is one of his as well. You know, because LWM is all about being stalwart when it comes to not doing do any of the things that GG blogs about re: smears and general political dirtyness.
He loves wikipedia too, just like the other disinformation artists and spooks out there. Hell, maybe he is even a Bonesman like the other CIA Disinformation peddlers, er, pardon me, "Wikipedia Scholars".
FYI, Settembrini is his puppet atm.

I suggested to Salon that everyone be kept to just one screen name, but that idea got nowhere. I would like to see a list of handles from each IP where there is more than one. I bet lwm has 30. I suspect that only a few regulars here play sock puppet. I find the practice distasteful and counterproductive to having meaningful conversations. But then, that is lwm's purpose.
Timberman, on the other hand, has a good heart I think, but is mislead on the nature of man and power. He does claim to love lwm and his disruptions. These things are opinion only, make of them what you will.
I also think that Glenn G. has a spot of fun here with an alias once in a while; though I could not blame him for that. It must be tough to want to say something off hand without it being "words of the great writer Glenn Greenwald" once in a while. (if he does not, perhaps he should start)
-
Don't forget Ron Pauliac
Damn, how did I forget that one? Thanks Chris.
-
@Derbig Mooser
Sounds more like Bucky was conjecturing that you are an LWM sockpuppet to me, not that LWM somehow logged onto your account and posted under it.
Playing "Guess which handles are LWM sockpuppets" is half the fun of reading the comments here. Like a rotten easter egg hunt, so fitting with Easter yesterday and all.
Protip: He uses the same posting style with all of his handles, i.e. long posts, lots of links (esp wiki) with the article content or w/e blockquoted, and it appears to use italics to quote other posters. There will also be lots of flirting and footsies with WT, like "look at how sneaky I am, tee hee".

@bucky
Damn, how did I forget that one?
The same was you laugh at LWM, shrug off and forget everything it writes.
Easily.
-
derbig et al. @ lwm et al.
You guys are making my head hurt.
-
It's just you and me, Bucky
He has been here; never leaves. He does switch handles often and sometimes lets lwm cool off.
A sort list of the many handles includes but is not limited to, lwm, Derbig Mooser, KB4hire, q8dhimmi, Lisa Michele, and Settembrin.
I suspect both Proximity Warning and SomeNYGuy but that is still open. William Timberman posted some others a few days back, but I don't remember what his list was.

I'm 98% of the other posters here, except for William Timberman. He's the Grand Heirophant and Superordinate of the Cabal of Liberal Warmongers.
I'd always suspected that LWM and Timberman were the same poster, but what do I know.
Now he'll really dislike you. I'll take that as a compliment, however. You can't please everyone. But you are being incredibly dishonest. There is no other way to put it. You called McCain a war criminal. I told you that he had never been adjudicated as such by any competent legal authority, international court or body. It was a confession obtained by torture at the hands of his NVA captors. You apparently approve of torture, as well as being completely dishonest. Now you are saying I suggested he never flew missions over Vietnam.
Considering the grief he gave me when I once (tangentially) mentioned that McCain had been shot down while carrying out a bombing mission over Vietnam
You and Bucky should start a Cabal of your own. perhaps your cabal and our cabal can play Bridge sometime.
