A friend called me and told me that the proper response to your devestating riposte about me not satisfying my wife is to smugly announce how stunningly easy it is for me to satisfy yours!
Okay, that's a wierd and tasteless ritual, but if it is necessary to you, there it is. May it serve you well, as well as any other aspect of your style of intercourse.
I certainly don't blame the black people for feeling like we owe them something. -- michmog
I see. What exactly does 21st Century black America think they are due? Let me put it a different way. What exactly would it take for black America to no longer feel unfullfilled/unequal/unwhatever?
Well done.
I don't hate queer people. I can't pretend to be sex-blind because absolutely nothing in my culture will allow me to be. I admire Cary Grant,...
Cary Grant was gay? Oh my God, it's too late for the morphine, I'm going right to the revolver.
BTW, before I go, what was the point of that post? Did you think that Greenwald wrote the lines in which you substituted "queer" for "black"?
Your point eludes me completely, unless it is that the same exact techniques are used by bigots, irregardless of whatever it is that differentiates them and their victims.
You know, you really hit the gong for stupidity tonite with that post, and you've got some strong competitors.
To illustrate how stupid the OldPunk post was it's fun to substitute in other groups. How about Jews and those wacky little hats they wear?
"It's the nature of some men, period, no matter what color..."--T Suarez
Of course it is. But most other peoples, when bothered by boogie men, don't send the whole of their armed forces into a country which really hasn't been supplying the boogie men. Sure, a suicide bomber here, a few shoulder-launched missiles there. Does the fact that men of other cultures engage in this sort of stupidity make it okay for Western white man? Is this some kind of justification for the United States' preemptive strike on a sovereign nation? Or the arming of US citizens against their fellow citizens?
Right now, I'm concerned with the behavior of my own race and nation. Once my own backyard is cleaned up, then I can consider my neighbors...
For your edification, I do get out quite a bit. And I keep my eyes, ears and *mind* open.
No, Mr. Suarez was enjoying Easter dinner with his family. Some of us have a life, you know.
And I answered you adequately. The difference between McCain and Obama is that McCain is guilty of bad staff work, pandering, and weaseling after the fact. Obama is manifestly shown to be a liar and a hypocrite.
The biggest difference: McCain did not sit and listen to Hagee's "sermons" for 20 years. Obama did. McCain can legitimately plead ignorance. Obama can't.
I have absolutely no desire to portray blacks as a monolithic bloc in any way. But it appears that you do.
But you have a strong desire to defend those that do.
It's a little late to pretend that I'm the horrible racist here. And if I am doesn't that make us friends?
It's amazing how few people on the right can say "those sentiments were clearly racist and that website, by printing them, endorsed that racism. Reynolds should use better judgement when promoting blogs."
Apparently that's simply impossible to type out.
OT but depressing....
Now 4000 thousand American servicemen have been killed in Iraq.
Are we "winning?"
What does that mean?
Bush has Osama beat by 1000?
So, Obama goes to a church for 20 years and keeps that relationship a private matter, and the pastor has some nutty and offensive views.
John McCain, however, actively seeks out not just the attention of right wing nutjob preachers, but forms a public political alliance!
If all Republicans did with the religious right was go to their churches, I'd have no problem with it.
But the right is trying to argue now that Barack Obama's private involvement in a church is more important than the open and public and expressly political involvement between McCain and his rabid Talibangelical endorsers?
How is this better?
Okay then, I must have misapprehended it. As I said, most of my brain came out with that tooth.
My mistake, I'm sure. So the "satire" consisted of substituting the name of a very favored group for the despised one in the original screed? I'm not sure I get it, but a guy whose grey matter comes out with his molar shouldn't talk.
"I see. What exactly does 21st Century black America think they are due?"--shooter242
Perhaps some respect. Perhaps some monetary recompense such as what we paid the Japanese Americans who were interred in concentration camps some 60+ years ago. Perhaps more understanding as to *why* they're *still* angry. Jim Crow Laws were in force in the not-so-distant past, the race riots in the streets were a mere 40 years ago. Given the treatment blacks have received in their ENTIRE history in the United States, can you honestly wonder why many of them are ANGRY? There comes a point where a group of people just gives up because they feel there is no hope.
Oh. And the proper spelling is "reparations".
Let me put it a different way. What exactly would it take for black America to no longer feel unfullfilled/unequal/unwhatever?
How about one tiny bit of good-will and an attempt at leaving behind some of your preconceptions and prejudices?
In that case, the situation is hopeless, eh Shootsy? Your every moral scruple, your every yearning for dignity and freedom, would be lost if you gave that!
I guess you would have to give up everything you stand for, and maybe a whole lot of booty, besides, sucka!
you said: "RMP, do you think the troops in Iraq will be just as inspired to patriotic valor by a Commander-in-Chief Obama as they were by President Bush?"
well, I was in the army reserve for twenty years, going from private to captain, and I never met anyone inspired in any way by the the politicians or who even gave much of a damn about the colonels and the generals. Usually you care about the people around you, your unit. I think if you asked a lot of guys and they knew you could keep it to yourself they would tell you to piss on valor inspired by a commander in chief, no matter who that guy was. At the level I was at, private to captain, politics was of no real effect (above captain it seemed to get political to me, and by the time you hit general it really seemed those bastards had turned into politicians.
That was my experience, anyway.
