You go, Glenn. Write on!
The following are excerpts from Patrick J. Buchanan’s post on his blog on March 21. Others have talked about Buchanan on this thread, but I think it is worthwhile to post the substance of his argument. His form of racism is the most dangerous kind, covert and filled with trying to justify why he is not a racist and how he has been wronged. He’s perpetuating the con job not Obama. He doesn’t want a dialogue. He wants to lecture and scold and keep his mind and heart closed. He actually believes that America has been “the best country on earth for black folks” and they should be so thankful that they were brought in irons to America to be oppressed, taken terrible advantage of even though they were “freed,” and forced to live the way the white man wants them to whether they like it or not through economic slavery, violation of the constitution and oppression.
The “white community,” said Barack, must start “acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination — and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past — are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds … .”
And what deeds must we perform to heal ourselves and our country?
The “white community” must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with “ladders of opportunity” that were “unavailable” to Barack’s and the Rev. Wright’s generations.
What is wrong with Barack’s prognosis and Barack’s cure?
Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, “everybody but the rioters themselves.”
Was “white racism” really responsible for those black men looting auto dealerships and liquor stories, and burning down their own communities, as Otto Kerner said — that liberal icon until the feds put him away for bribery.
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?

Mark Kleiman joins in with the standard horde of right-wing blogs defending Glenn Reynolds
I will just point out that of that “horde of right-wing blogs defending Glenn Reynolds” none of them will even acknowledge Reynolds’ own culpability in his remarks about Oprah Winfrey or a post he did link to.
Those updates (3&4) have been completely ignored by all them (so far). That doesn’t fit their narrative – that Reynolds is unfairly being held accountable for something he didn’t even link to.
They are quickly changing the subject, completely ignoring the horrible racist post at a blog that Reynolds regularly links to, and insisting on giving Reynolds a pass that they have adamantly refused to give to Obama.
In sum, Obama is responsible for everything any angry black man ever said, while Glenn Reynolds is not even responsible for something he said.
No wonder they want to change the subject.
You may not be responsible for the comments at your blog. You are certainly responsible for the content you publish.
InstaPunk is recruitingPosted by Instapunk @ 11:27 am • Monday, 21 January 2008
Today we’ve posted our first entry in a year-long series titled “Why You Shouldn’t Vote for Hillary Obama.”
You’ll find it here:
http://www.instapunk.com/archives/InstaPunkArchiveV2.php3?a=1212
If you want to participate with your own posts, all you have to do is email InstaPunk at sigmazrn(AT)comcast(DOT)net. We’ll give you the means of posting directly at InstaPunk.
In fact, you can post on other topics too. But please read some of our “best of” blog entries in the lefthand column first, so you understand the spirit which moves us. The idea is to be nasty, satirical and/or smart without TOO much bad language. And did we mention right-wing? But not slavishly so. We also like to trash Hannity, O’Reilly, George Will, Hugh Hewitt, Neal Boortz(!), Ron Paul, etc, etc. You know. The Punk Right.
If we don’t like your post, we’ll remove it. But chances are we’ll keep it. As long as you’re funny, know how to write grammatically and SPELL (vital), and have the properly worshipful attitude toward sighthounds and Bengal cats.
And, uh, we’re completely serious about this.

Poor white male conservatives, always getting blamed for everything, regardless of the fact that they control everything and have all the power. Where's the gratitude, indeed? America is the best country in the world--as long as you're white and male--and nobody else is grateful?! What a travesty! It makes me sick to my stomach.
