A certain lawyer gets sacked from the www.Saloon.
His favorite home brew is called, "Natural Sack Mead'...
The raisons give his mead a vinous quality,"So Try it?"
`
3 pounds of Locust Tree honey, golden raisins, pinch of peptic enzyme, a cup of jasmine tea,
A dry sparkling (not machete sword) and bubbling mead yeast. Added nutrients (ear wax),
and berry juices.I bet it's drunk before a complete fermentation? It's a bubble. It's impossible, but try to store the corked jug in a cellar for six months before borrowing a cork screw from Glenn's favorite legal editor and best 'M' mead critic. Mmm.
It's a struggle.
Roots go deep.
Don't lop off or punch out.
Avoid trouble? Impossible.
No punch... me,,, or...
the eye-lights of anybody.
Arne. Cheers. burp. out/over.
There are many reasons we went to war, the main one being that the Administration lied through it's goddamn teeth. But the Democrats went along with this gross misadventure, either out of cowardice or because they feel the same way these "liberal hawks" feel. Of course we all know, thanks in no small part to Glenn's columns, that we also have a docile, compliant news media that instead should provide a check on the Administration's claims.
But in my mind, one significant factor is our binary choice for candidates for congress and the President. As long as two parties dominate the "choice", then every generation or so we will get ourselves into another Iraq or Viet Nam.
We divide all of the complex issues we face as either "Democratic" or "Republican" when it is much more complicated than that here on the street. A passionate environmentalist may also oppose Affirmative Action. An anti-abortion advocate may also support single-payer healthcare.
Those folks should have a candidate that more closely represents their views. More political choices would mean more voter participation as well. When poor countries such as Venezuela kick our asses as far as voter turnout, well, that is just embarrassing.
But I am pretty well convinced that a coalition of Libertarians on the right and Greens on the left, in addition to the anti-war Democrats, would have stopped Iraq from happening dispite Bush's lies, the media's compliance, and the other spineless, chickenshit Democrats.
Just a disclaimer, I am voting Obama or Clinton this year, and have voted Carter, Mondale, Dukaukis, Clinton, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry in my voting lifetime. But I also believe in small "d" democratic values, and we need to figure out a way to add some choices to the menu. A future generation will most likely be faced with the same perfect storm of warmongering executive, a lame press, and one opposition party that pisses all over itself when the warmonger says "boo". They will benefit if we can create a system where other opposition parties could caucus against dumb wars.
Another great one..

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day youll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And youll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
Ive watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
Theres so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the suns gone to hell
And the moons riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But its written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
Were fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
Trust me, saying unpopular things will get you banned. I'm on my 7th name. Salon and the notion of free debate are like cats and antifreeze.

Oh... wait. I think I did.
I was only putting the thought out there, I wasn't looking for SALT II.
Here's something I find interesting about you, Jaime: you like to bring up contrary points of view, which is great IMO, as nothing's more boring than a echo chamber. However, you seem to be really uncomfortable being odd man out. It makes you something of a challenging interlocutor.
I didn't even feel like we were arguing in this little sub-discussion as much as just exchanging points of view. If you found it uncomfortable, such certainly wasn't my intent.
Wasn't talking about you...your points are taken and considered. I don't mind being AN odd man out, not THE...an opinion derived from being a COlombian-Palestinian-American

The graduation rate seems to be somewhere in the 60+% rate (if those entering high school are compared to those who get a diploma)
But the reported rate is almost always much higher ...
Imagine the future of someone without EVEN a high school diploma ...
Consider that many who drop out of high school do so because they were failing out anyway... because their skill level sucked ...
oh yes, America CARES about education ...
gotta get back to work.
"We divide all of the complex issues we face as either "Democratic" or "Republican" when it is much more complicated than that here on the street."
Bob, that was a great post, all of it.
In our 'democracy' all the choice we ever get is the lessor of two evils. If you accept that, then you always are voting for evil, and getting it whether your side wins or not. We need more choices on the plate, as you wrote.

You must have said some severely rank stuff, man.
I irritate probably ninety percent of the posters here and I haven't been banned.
The only one I can think of right offhand was david sugarman and he was more long winded and irrational than anything else.
a brook. a lady bug? or a grey floating stink bug. a black h2o bug?
Oh, okay. a looking into the babbling brook, practicing sneers?
Oh, a neurosurgeon opts to dye the hair? Zebra in a swim suit?
same-same depravity? a teething hound dog? another bloodbath.
a drooling same-same, itching for a brawl in a sewer pool drain, post-rains.
a "troll" by any name does rot like any other shad fish. a rot begins in the head.
a brook? a friendly fellow" and a jolly one who seems pleasant and full with an inebriation?
We will wait. Why wonder. Speak. If you are a fish crapper, it won't be long and ya's reveal YOU.
