  • Just like a blogger

To point out the untruthiness of the establishment. Look Glenn, these guys have editors and offices and shiny pages!

You're probably in your boxers right now, so pffff.

    Otherwise another superb job.

  • Justice Department Exonerates Justice Department...

Here's my own personal favorite part:

"Civil libertarians are in a state of despair. "People don't realize how damaging it is to a democratic society to allow the government to warehouse information about innocent Americans," says Mike German, national security counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union.

Or do they? In all the examples of diminished civil liberties, there are few, if any, where the motivating factor was something other than law and order or national security. There are no scandalous examples of the White House using the Patriot Act powers for political purposes or of individual agents using them for personal gain. The Justice IG report released Thursday, for example, examined some 50,000 National Security Letters issued in 2006 to see whether the FBI misused that specialized kind of warrantless subpoena. The IG found some continuing abuse of the power, but blamed it for the most part on sloppiness and bad management, not nefarious intent."

In other words, we know that the Justice Department has not intentionally abused its unchecked investigative powers because the Justice Department looked at the Justice Department and decided that the Justice Department did not intentionally abuse its unchecked investigative powers.

In 2008, that's what's supposed to pass for checks and balances.

  • I eagerly await

The next saga in Glenn's ongoing series "Petulant Whining from Scolded Journalists Who Hate Being Called Out"

In our last episode, CNN's John King cried foul with the amusing defence that he did ask John McCain hard questions, they just weren't aired.

What absurd defence will Time magazine employ? Only Time will tell.

  • If the M$M were filthy cat playwrights....

When the GOPS go to bed they are sleepless and haunted.

The cats keep meowing in their sleep driving M$M insane.

    Bad playwrights....

    Bad cats. Not P's...

  • Damn the nefarious liberal media!

Always in the pockets of the Democrats, I tell y'what. Practically handing the election to the Dems, what with their nonstop coverage of the GOP attack on civil liberties and their equal treatment of Obama and McCain when it comes to embarrassing remarks made by preachers.

But back here on earth, cancel your subscription if you still have one.

  • Spitzer issue is waking people up

This whole thing with Elliot Spitzer being found out because of bank records and government wiretaps seems to be making the lack of privacy real to more people. Although nobody seems to approve of Spitzer's actions, I have spoken to a number of people who are concerned that the government was going after, and publicizing, something that is essentially private.

Although one can still easily find letters to the editor extolling the wonderfulness of Bush and the need to give up all our rights so that he can save us from the scary terrorists, it looks to me there are fewer letters like that. Maybe Time should look at its letters. That might be an accurate (ha!) way of finding out what Americans really think.

  • Jedi Master Obi Wan Calabresi and Time

Jedi Master Calabresi: "These are not the stories you are interested in."

Weak-minded American public: "These are not the storied we are interested in."

    Jedi Master Calabresi: "Move along."

Weak-minded American public: "Look! Mel Gibson had dinner with Britney!"

  • Rags such as time do not care about their circulation numbers falling

because Time is paid by the bush propaganda teams to publish things such as these.

That can be the only conclusion one can draw after wondering why it is that their rag does not care about their numbers.

Either that or nobody but brain dead neo communists subscribe to it to begin with, which I doubt.

We must not forget that in the last few years the bushies have spent millions of dollars on false news stories being circulated through the local medias. And the local medias went for it as it was a source of income for them.

Our media is so controlled it has become a joke and more and more people are waking up to this day by day.

  • Privacy ...

... is the right to be left alone. Political freedom is the right to engage in vigorous discourse and exploration of ideas -- even unpopular and potentially subversive ideas. We have and should expect a right to privacy even in those things that occur and are reported on in the public. The mere act of the FBI collecting newspaper clippings mentioning our name -- something clearly public -- has a chilling effect on our free discussion. The requirement that they do so only where there is some reason to believe that were are engaged in criminal activity is not unreasonable.

Permitting law enforcement agencies to gather "intelligence" on religious organizations, political groups, or other such associations not only violates the spirit of the Fourth Amendment, but chills speech and association rights as well. Let the FBI investigate crime. Let them not investigate thought.

  • Why bother to read Time Magazine?

I suppose it's worth knowing what kind of lies are being peddled to their readers. They still have a large, if stultified, number of readers.

Do they even have a Public Editor, to whom you could address your column?

  • Say it ain't so Glenn

Once upon a time, Time magazine was touted by the rupugs as the flagship example of the Liberal Media. So what happened? When did they become the Serious rag they are now? Maybe I am looking at their history through my lens of history. Maybe the truth is that they were never liberal to begin with; just reporting the news of the time, the way we expected responsible journalists to do their jobs.

Now, they proselytize and carry the banners of the Unified Presidential theory. I give them no more credit than I give to Politico reporters and the pundits that haunt the keyboards at that mouthpiece of the right.

If anyone should ask why no one trusts the Mainstream Media, all one needs do is to point to Time magazine. Moreover, Time gives lie to the statement of a Liberal news bias, not there, never was.
