I do think the piling up on her has gotten ridiculous, but whenever I feel sorry for her, she usually repays my soft nature by calling someone a misogynist or implying Kstone has a fantasy life involving high class hookers because he doesn't think a black slave (let's say a female one who has to service the master or risk a disfiguring or possibly lethal beating with a whip soaked in salt) is comprable to a high class whore like Kristen. I wish you would look with an unbiased eye, at the tactics used by spitzer when he was a prosecutor.

Spitzer investigated the private sex lives of people, in order to pressure them, and advance his personal carreer. Although the original reason for spitzer's pursuit had nothing to do with sex, he would use any weapon available.

The investigation of Dick Grasso is an example of this.

In my opinion, an example of a "misadventure in logical reasoning" is the defense of spitzer on the grounds that his sex life is nobody else's business, . . . yet a total ommision of the fact that he used those tactics as a prosecutor.

My point is not one of hypocrisy over attitudes toward prostitution, but attitudes towards justice. If spitzer was on your tail, you were not going to get a fair shake.

I never really understood why prostitution was a gender issue. I can understand how the income inequity argument may have made some sense but woman are earning enough to afford to pay for prostitutes now.

OT True Story: My Mother takes her charity rather personally and has "adopted" numerous homeless people who she meets while they are soliciting donations on the street corners of her daily commute. Long story short. There are homeless pimps. I don't mean pimps that are homeless, these are "business" people that control the prime pan handling real estate by force and recruit homeless people to work those corners. The homeless are chosen both for their ability to generate sympathy/donations and for their ability to stand and work for long hours outdoors. Mostly men. As you would imagine, the pimps take a very reasonable 80% of the money. You do not cross your pimp because "homeless people die every day."

I'm not picking on Tina here but she brought up that laws on drugs, prostitution, etc were democratically enacted. So if Americans are actually against them, they would get them changed. Well living in Colorado, let me tell you about how citizens have tried to change the laws. By citizen initiative in Denver, by a 60%+ margin voters enacted a resolution that would decriminalize marijuana. People caught with less then an ounce of marijuana, would not face any penalty. Guess what the police announced? They were still going to arrest and ticket the people because marijuana was illegal under state law. Never mind that Denver is a home rule city, meaning they will enforce city laws even if they aren't illegal under state law. They had no choice but to apply the state law they said. Then last election Denver citizens passed another resolution, mandating that marijuana be police's lowest priority. Guess what happened? The latest statistics came out and marijuana arrests have increased 50% since that initiative was passed. So much for just changing the laws.

Just like there were perfectly good biological reasons that it was 'immoral' to eat pork in years past, there's a reason why having sex with lots of different people is 'wrong.'

I am actually on the fence about the issue of whether or not prostitution should be illegal. As a former libertarian who has actually talked to prostitutes, I have mixed feelings. However, not to see the exploitative nature of purchasing sex is to mark one as a fool.

If prostituion should be legal, it should be legalized and regulated in such a way as to not make the cure worse than the disease.
