First, you say that you're joking, then you say that if only you could pimp well, you'd be richer than you are.
Odd things you make fun of, to the extent that anything you writes makes any sense. You're easily misunderstood, my friend.
But I digress.
I never addressed "bartering sex for gifts", although I think that is only prostitution also. However if you think a woman accepting a gift from a boyfriend or vice versa is "barting sex for gifts", then it's you who's pretty twisted.
And I have ever once said I would put anyone but a pimp or john in prison, and you know that. Your continued inability to deal with that very important distinction shows me the limitations of your stance.
So anyway, yes, then, you support brothels recruiting on college campuses, unemployment agencies offering sex work to women, and all the rest of it. And you'd be fine with your granddaughters doing it because it's the same as installing drywall. In fact, you'd help them. Yes? Right?
Glad we got that cleared up.
It's two "L"s, smarty-pants!
What is the purpose of sex? When was the last time you had sex to reproduce? And if you have, good for you.
I tend to take the Bill Hicks/David Cross view on sex: its neither magical or miraculous. I don't intend to have children yet, perhaps ever. My peers are doing plenty of that. But I do like sex, and while I have never directly paid cash for the privilege, it is not for you to tell me that I can't, at some point, under all due informed consent of all parties (let's not be coy: if I'm buying a hooker, why not buy two?) just skip the bullshit and pay for it?
And before you accuse me of being some kind of sexist pig, I can tell you that I know plenty of women who feel exactly the same. I can her the cluck-clucking of the soy latte soccer crowd now, and I would point out that while you or people who hold your "progressive" beliefs about womens rights might call such women "loose", "of low moral character" or a "slut", they themselves prefer to be called "feminists" pretty much universally.
I would add on a pragmatic note that there are several factors that have prevented me and my friends from a direct cash quid-pro-quo for sex (let's stop calling it prostitution for now, since that term more accurately describes my current job): it is illegal, and I don't like jail; it is illegal, so there is a higher ratio of scumbag to upstanding professional possible in the industry than in, say, record executives (wait, I take it back, there are probably way more scumbags in the record industry); it is unregulated, and while I have good medical insurance, I would hate to explain to the doctor where that rash comes from.
All the things that are bad about prostitution are true and true because it is criminalized. And I am looking for you to provide me with evidence of prostitution being the same or worse in a country (or county -- remember, we have Nevada) with a functioning legal system and government. Down the line, in every case, I would bet that it is better. We don't have very good statistics because its hard to quantify something that is UNDERGROUND!
There will always be pedophiles and sociopaths and pimps, and there are laws against sex with any minor, slavery, rape, assault, battery, fraud, extortion and theft that effectively deal with any laws that those scumbags might break.
But that you can go to any small to mid-sized city in America, open the phone book and get a call girl within hours; that you can get a hand job or blow job in almost any truck stop on Eisenhower's great Interstate Freeway, and a happy ending at a "massage parlor" in any major US city really says something to me: prohibition does not work.
Say it with me. "Prohibition.. does.. not.. work."
Better to protect sex workers than to punish them. And for they they need to be able to come out of the dark.
Sex-positive sex-work is a human rights issue, and you are on the wrong side of it.
Besides that you have admitted you would pimp your grandchildren if you could "get a piece of the action", could you explain to me:
in exactly what way sex is the SAME as everything else? Please be very specific.
You are, I think, the most humor impaired individual I have ever had the displeasure of meeting, online or off.
I would advise my granddaughters against becoming prostitutes, but if they were, as adults, to make the decision to do so then I would attempt to make their business venture as profitable and safe as I could manage.
Which basically means that I would tell them to find a more skillful manager than myself, if I was all that good at it I'd be wealthy in a financial sense which I emphatically am not.
Would you lock you progeny in a filthy steel cage to be at the total mercy of sadists rather than allow them to be prostitutes?
Make no mistake about it, that is what you advocate.. Locking people who do not conform to your personal moral code in filthy steel cages supervised by sadists. That is what the essence of prison is.
I'm not posting to convince you of anything, I know that will never happen.. I'm posting to show the lurkers what a really sick, humorless and joyless individual you are. Your moral code is twisted into a shape that makes a Klein bottle look positively linear.
Sex is like everything else because it is part and parcel of the human experience since long before we swung down out of the trees.
You have absolutely no problem with women bartering sexual access for gifts, entertainment, food or high status as long as the barter is strictly implicit. Let a direct quid pro quo take place though and you scream "exploitation".
Honestly, I pity you at the same time I feel revulsion at your desire to force other adults into your rigid and warped moral code.
