WT... I deeply regret not having become acquainted with this Bart person, although his eliminationist triumphalism sounds depressingly familiar. That's the real reason that these RWA's are so bizarrely besotted with the idea of universal surveillance; it's the modern equivalent of "Won't someone rid me of this nettlesome priest?" I'm sure I butchered that quote, but am too lazy and preoccupied to get it exactly.
The gist is, that righties, having been proven wrong so relentlessly, are frothing at the mouth to silence those who have proved them wrong. "My Dad can beat up your Dad," or rather Big Brother can do so, is their only remaining hope.
They have nothing to fear, as they have nothing to hide. They revel in the fact that, given their behavior over these past few years, the only thing they'll be remembered as is a flat head Bush could set his beer on.
Slurping noises never pick up on tape.

We got enough Shiitake inoculated white-oak logs to feed everybody some free soup.
The temperature range variations need to cooperate tho, and sometimes the immersion of entire logs is necessary. Now that's a late into the night work...!... It's not waterboarding.
It's log dumping. But the log fruit is gourmet! Shiitake is also called the "fruit of immortality" because of the health giving properties. The woodsy flavor and firm meaty texture make some welcome (syprog) recipes. W.T. I hear you clearly though. The real paid trolls who are here to disrupt are real fools. But who knows? We are all fallible. We just need wise prudence.

Reverse targeting
The TPM report mentioned by Glenn states that the Senate bill does not have “reverse targeting”, whereas the House bill does. My understanding is that the following language from the Senate bill prohibits reverse targeting (from www.govtrack.us; click sig for direct link).
“703(b)(2) may not intentionally target a person reasonably believed to be outside the United States if the purpose of such acquisition is to target for surveillance a particular, known person reasonably believed to be in the United States, except in accordance with title I;”.
Am I mistaken about this?
Does anyone have a link that spells out the differences between the passed versions of the House (H.R. 3773) and Senate (S. 2248) bills?

Apparently the quote is either literary, or apocyphal -- Arne scoped it out for me one day, but I forget the gist, and I, too, am lazy. It's usually given as meddlesome, or turbulent, I think. I used to favor the latter, but I think from now on, I'll use nettlesome. (It pleases me to think that Thomas was more than just a minor annoyance before he got the chop.)

Positive New FISA Action From Three Members of the House
Another excellent letter from Commerce Committee Reps. Dingell, Markey and Stupak went out yesterday, which alerts their colleagues to the eye-opening and detailed new allegations of whistleblower Babak Pasdar (irony of ironies, an Iranian-American...), concerning the wide-open and unmonitored "Quantico Circuit" plugged into a major wireless carrier's data center:

These Members of Congress assert that they are being prevented by the president from speaking to private companies about this issue, and prevented from investigating allegations such as Pasdar's. This is beyond belief. Is it because the House Intelligence Committee under Reyes won't hold closed-door hearings on such matters? Or just that no one in the House is willing to force the issue? No member of our federal legislature should tolerate such bad faith abuse of vital democratic process and Congressional oversight by this, or any, Executive Branch.

Why are the Democrats caving? Are they complicit, or are they acting under duress? If duress, of what nature? If complicit, of what nature? Are other explanations possible? Are there several explanations? What is happening that they are keeping from the general public?
