  • Contact info from Firedoglake

    Glenn,

Here's the contact info from Christy Hardin Smith's post over at Firedoglake:

    Speaker Pelosi:

    Phone: (202) 225-4965

    Fax: 202-225-8259

    Rep. Reyes:

    Phone: 202-225-4831

    Fax: 202-225-2016

  • Bush and the Democraps have already

demonstrated time and time again that the Congress is quaint and outdated. Congress is no longer necessary and is, in fact, and impediment and needs to go away.

Pelosi has proven this from the instant she "took control" and immediately handed full control of government to Bush/Cheney (Impeachment is Off the Table = disolving Congress).

Pelosi SHOULD be replaced by Cindy Sheehan simply to throw a shock into the Democrapic Police State Party.

McCain should win just to totally rip the guts out of the Democrapic Police State Party.

  • Exclusivity don't mean shit

    * It contains a provision stating that the bill is the "exclusive means" by which the President can conduct electronic surveillance

Exclusivity don't mean shit. All Bush has to do is attach a signing statement, saying that provision don't apply to him. I'll say it again, exclusivity don't mean shit. Way to go dems on capitulating once again. We expected nothing less from you, and you didn't disappoint.

  • Jim White

Thanks. I was at that show, strangely enough. Didn't know there was so much of it online.

  • Can you call Dodd and see if he will fillibuster the process in the Senate

Otherwise, he is just a self serving politician like the rest. He knew what his "compromise" in the Senate would lead to.

If he had fillibustered every motion and every attempt to pass the bill it never would have gone through. Republicans don't actually believe in anything. If they were forced to stay all night they would have caved on the Senate Bill.

F### Chris Dodd and his hypocrisy.

As far as I'm concerned he's a liar like the rest.

    F### Chris Dodd.

He said he's do everything in his power to fillibuster and he did not.

    F### Chris Dodd.

  • Where do you get this stuff

Pelosi SHOULD be replaced by Cindy Sheehan simply to throw a shock into the Democrapic Police State Party.

McCain should win just to totally rip the guts out of the Democrapic Police State Party.

    -- tempus

I serious. I'm just curious where this kind of thinking comes from. I'm not in a position to speak authoritatively on the nature of your politics, having only a passing familiarity with you from here. I expect some of this is just frustration speaking but I would like to know where this comes from.

  • I feel sick

Thanks for helping on the last gasp, though, Glenn.

  • This is procedural game playing

at its highest level. Who knows what will really happen?

Still, standing up to Bush directly and without all the kabuki would be much preferable in any instance, i.e., what benefit to the democrats gain by this volleyball approach?

  • No way am I gonna comment in public....

It's "craven" and maybe it's about time to hang out at a out-of-town, flea infested, hidden away cheap motel?

    Thanks okay? bye.

Maybe DC's thugs can listen to Wagner's Death March?

It is the month of March. Little fleas make readers scratch?

A flop house in DC is a GOP-led whore house in my sincere opinion.

The W.H. has become real infested with loyal snoop bug bastard mongrel pups.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, let's all e-mail the Chang family dynasty. heh? er.

Order a dinner of 'Pastrami King' and sing 'Hell to the sneaks, fiefdoms, and scared creeps'...

What will the politico say to their children, associates, grandchildren, and the klezmer, gospel choir, or the notion of a old-time divinity? Oh, I hope the band named 'Who' or 'The TRolling Stones' inflicts them with sore gall bladders. What ill-blather! Oh, Twinkle Twinkle? Oh, Bed Bugs Tinkle on them all.... huh. I'm on my way. I'll stay at the grasshopper motel and be Natures Guest?

    Are we allowed to sing,

    "Go Twinkle little creeps?

    What rotten hen chicken eggs.

The whole batch needs a 'shrink' couch.

    Reprobates. Sheer chutzpah. O, goiters?"

Repeat 3X's. The chorus is sane-same.

heh? shad up. okay. O let them bemoan! But...

On the first day of hell ~ let them have big tantrums.

No way am I gonna comment in public my disrespect.

  • Called Reyes office (since I'm in Texas)

Politely but emphatically, tore into his phone person. Was met with... stuneed silence. then, "Thank you, I'll definitely pass your feelings on to the Congressman".

Light up the phone lines, people!

  • Pelosi's staffer...

...got all huffy with me on the phone, saying "I resent you characterizing the Speaker's actions as capitulation when no information is available as to the conference negotiations." When in response I brought up S. Reyes' CNN chat, the staffer barked, "well I can't speak for congressman Reyes," then he immediately cut off my call & sent me over to Pelosi's comments voicemail.

  • Stuff to do when you're not faxing/calling/blogging tonight

OT - In case you aren't blogging hereabouts this evening, you might want to partake of some PBS shows:

Now - The use of torture by the U.S. is duscussed with filmmaker Alex Gibney, whose Oscar-winning documentary "Taxi to the Dark Side" explores the topic.

Bill Moyer's Journal - A report on GOP presidential candidate John McCain and his endorsement from John Hagee, controversial evangelist and leader of the Christians United for Israel.

  • HERE'S THE TOLL-FREE NUMBER FOR CONGRESS: (800) 828-0498

I note that FDL and other websites don't give out the Capitol's toll free number to reach ANY member of Congress, House or Senate. The number is (800) 828-0498. Let's get calling; I will call EVERY SINGLE DAY until Retroactive Immunity is DEAD! I am also going to contact Obama's campaign, to see if we can get him on board, even more aggressively than he has been so far. Clinton is hopeless, having pandered herself into Republocrat existence.

  • pointus

You must've gotten there right before me. I immediately got the "I don't know anything about a FISA bill being floated" routine from Pelosi's staffer, and was immediately cut off and sent to the "comment" line.

  • good thinking, good celery!

    You almost startled me. :)

FWIW, I am kin to the Chang dynistry. too.

About exclusive capitualtion report...I suppose its a little late...

but wanted to thank sysprog the other day, and pow wow in the post below, for their efforts in trying to describe the 'problems' with FISA (original) in the modern telecommunication age (i.e. 2000 through 2008). I caught some of the ABA meeting, ref. by sysprog/pow wow, on c-span. Except for a few (uncommonly) insightful questions by the audience (and the panalist on the right(?), from camara perspective), I thought it was a pretty pititful airing of the facts concerning the "assistance" of the Telecoms in helping the Gov. with it's warrantless surveillance program.

...still, I sure would like to see the (secret?) FISA Court ruling which initiated, and evidently necessitates, all these changes in FISA 'foreign to foreign' surveillance ... and puts us at such risk?

    let it snow,

    bah.
