heh. DCLaw1.
The first day in jail Glenn is assigned as a cell mate George W. Bush?
Glenn walks in to meet his cellmate... GWB... wants to get acquainted.
GWB ask Glenn to spot him as he lifts dumbbells in a daily regiment.
Glenn exits jail with big mammoth mussels and a new Texan friend.

Bill Sammon
Total idiot. I used to play softball with him and his wife almost 20 years ago when he lived in Cleveland. Nice guy--really earnest. But not very smart, never was. And thin-skinned. Glenn, you left out some of his best books: (Just look at the titles--no nuance there)
The Evangelical President: George Bush's Struggle to Spread a Moral Democracy Throughout the World
Strategery: How George W. Bush Is Defeating Terrorists, Outwitting Democrats, and Confounding the Mainstream Media
Misunderestimated : The President Battles Terrorism, Media Bias, and the Bush Haters
and my personal favorite
At Any Cost: How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Election
When I knew him, Sammon reminded me EXACTLY of Bob Schaffer, a Congressman from Colorado who I went to college with. This guy was sweet and earnest but absolutely dumb as a rock. He used to sidle up to me in English class whenever there was a group project b/c he knew I was good for an A and he had political ambitions even then. Irony of all-time: we wrote a project together on the ambiguous language of the U.S. Constitution, specifically relating to the Second Amendment. "Our" conclusion (remember, I did all the work): Most experts agreed (in 1984, anyway) that the Second Amendment spelled out militias' rights but not any kind of individual right to bear arms. Imagine if I'd brought out that thing back when Columbine happened on his watch and he was the first to join NRA's defensive rhetoric about guns.
But I digress pretty thoroughly. I'm on a roll tonight if anyone's noticed my posts all over salon. Perhaps I should tend to my children.
Anyway, Bill Sammon and Bob Schaffer--two really great guys. The kind you'd like to have a beer with.
PS As I reread my post, I see that I neglected to mention that Bob Schaffer was a RepublicanCongressman. But you knew that already, didn't you?

"Unique" you said it Glenn
Unique, orginal, unhackneyed, not old, and inspires people of all walks, preferences, and pigmentations of life to transcend their ordinary limitations. That's Obama to be. And as for "experience" as Hillary would haughtily would it, I've HAD the Hillary experience, and I never want to experience it again.

Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama! Obama!
Definitely creepy and scarey. Pass the Kool-Aid.

Neo-Conservatives like being afraid, what else is new
I thought the Reagen adulation was over the top and to a certain extent manufactured, GWBs was certainly manufactured by Rove at the peak of his manipulitive skills and power. Anyways I thought the American pie, nationalistic fervor was ridiculous and shallow but it did work for the base. In the end it was manipulated political adulation, this video breaks uncomforatbale boundries of personal adulation.
The chant in the video has a droning quality similar to chanting found in hindu temples chanting the name of the lord or gurus, or saints, but not political leaders. BTW the chants can be sublimly beautiful and are designed to quiet the mind and open the heart. ANyways this Obama chanting is different than GOP nationalistic and paternalistic fervor (“Go Team America!”, “Hail to the Chief!”) super-imposed onto a simplistic GOP personlity, this is all about Obama, this is cult of personality, over the top personal adulation.
The ad starts “We are One”, cool that’s uniting. Then it morphs to “We are THE ones”. Huh? Which ones are THE ones. Am I one of THE ONES? How do you get to be one of THE ones? By chanting Obamas name? And if there exists THe ones, doesn't that mean "we are not one"?
If this ad is brought to the forefront in the national election, it would hand the election to McCain in a heartbeat...unless McCain followers heard the chant as "go-bomb-them", "go-bomb-them", "go-bomb-them".

They even made action figures of Bush in that flight suit. And not just one, but several versions. Most not intended ironically.

Ash, that's the one
"I can literally remember what he was wearing: an Air National Guard flight jacket, cowboy boots, complete with the - in Texas you see it a lot - one of the back pockets will have a circle worn in the pocket from where you carry your tin of snuff, your tin of tobacco. He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have,"
I think what's most interesting about that quote is what a naked attempt at convincing us that a cult of personality around Bush exists--where none could possibly exist. Bush is literally the LEAST charismatic individual I have ever seen on television. Somewhere between Ted Koppell and Jerry Lewis.
Certainly, popular media portrayed him in various non-charismatic incarnations--monkey-headed, Afred E. Neumanned, doddering dunce, etc--before he got control of the spin machine. In a sense, I think that maybe where the fear of Obama lays--even perhaps more so than Hillary, or another Dem candidate. Whatever is driving the cult of personality around Obama, it can't be denied that he REALLY does exude a charisma that crosses party lines, as other people noted here. I think Dan Savage said it most eloquently when he asked men on Politically Incorrect if they were a little "Gay" for Obama. Probably the first candidate of any party to be able to actually excite people without the need for media tricks since Clinton.

There is no greater sin in Laura Ingraham's mind than admitting that you do not listen to her radio show.

DCLaw1.
I was not wanting to 'imagine' image...nonrespect.
I hope The AG Mukasey gives Glenn house-arrest?
Is there such a thing as a out-of-town DC motel-arrest?
I recommend the Red Rose Motel in PA's pee-wee, DOJ's,
The Honorable (horrible), Senator Spectate jurisdictions?
