  • American Stinker

There I am, reading the trembling expose in The American Stinker linked to by Glenn, curious as to why the United Church of Christ, my alma mater, has become such a den of closet Israel haters, when I come upon the part where the author quotes an "anti-Israeli rant" (not reproduced here to protect the children)by Obama's minister which sounds startling like that other noted bigot (a favorite America Stinker descriptor), Israel's probably best friend ever, Jimmy Carter. So Obama's minister, and therefore Obama is that kind of jew hater, eh?

Whilst chewing (figuratively, OK?) on that moist steamer, I get to the part where this imbecile (small 'i', not like the Imbecile in Residence) is quoting noted historian, scholar, serious journalist and recipient of the Nepotists Nitwit of the Year Golden Diaper Award, Tucker Carlson. Bwah bwah bwahhhhaahahahahahahaah.

I laughed. I cried. I hoped it wasn't infectious. What if stupidity rubs off? Stop! Stop reading. Warning Dr. Smith! Intruder Alert. It was a close encounter of the worst kind, but I was able to put down the computer and walk away.

Could the next part of this teenage squalling be the mo-ron citing Charley Brown on winning sporting strategies? I made a mental post-it note to make sure to write Glenn G: stop linking to the bottom feeder sites. You hurt my good eye.

One thought: if public financing was created to limit the influence of lobbyist money in presidential campaigns, then Obama doesn't need it and shouldn't take it, given that he doesn't accept lobbyist money to begin with. What he's gotten comes from guys like me, and a million and some of my closest friends. When Ari's gang shows up, we'll be right there on the Intertubes, credit cards to the rescue. Hi Ho Plastic, Away!

Salon wants a liberal. Salon likes Obama because he's a liberal.

prunes likes Obama coz he's more genuinely conservative than the torture-loving, bombing-loving, anti-conservative fascists who have taken over the Republican party.

Seriously, how the hell is Bush not more liberal by 90s standards than Clinton? He's done every single thing* that conservatives hated Clinton for, but more flagrantly, egregiously, and irresponsibly.

*I doubt he can get a blowjob.

  • @Elephantman

Right. This is my point, exactly. The Salon readership doesn't really want "bipartisan," and a true bipartisan would actually be anathema to most of the readership.

Considering all the examples of "bipartisan" politicans you posted upthread want nothing more than to crown King George our Eternal Leader (as far as I can tell from their public statements), don't you really mean "monopartisan?"

I think many of the posters here have missed part of his point. It's the system that is broken...

The beltway culture is corrupt and money driven on both sides of the asile...

As for Obama, I'd really like to believe that the system can change. It is fundamentally broken, but he is very short on any sort of specifics. He's up against more than just the republicans. The beltway is corrupt down to its lowest levels.

It is fundamentally broken and Obama is not oblivious (or dismissive) to the fact as evidenced in his book, Audacity. He knows it will take, quite literally, the people and their overwhelming support, to begin the long-term task of ameliorating the plague that has systemically infected our government. That is precisely, in my opinion, what he is attempting to generate via his “just words” and “no solutions” message.

While garnering support of the masses, Obama’s top priority must be selecting an extraordinarily qualified, tenacious, and above reproach Attorney General. As everyone knows, getting rid of the infection will not will not happen overnight, nor will a dumb-downed leaf-blower approach be practical or feasible. However, if the people are motivated and remain supportive, the difficult tasks of restoring the Rule of Law and returning the government to its rightful owners can begin. Only then can Obama, or any other person elected president, begin addressing major issues such as health care and foreign policy.

Obama has documented positions and policies on the major issues that are frequently tossed out for discussion. Are they the right ones? That's for voters to decide, and they are available for scrutiny at his web site. While it would be desirable, I don't think he can document a comprehensive plan for kicking ass within the government. He would never get elected or if by chance he did, Congress would have Articles of Impeachment ready for him on January 21 for all the obvious reasons. Consequently, trust and how much of it the voters are willing to place in Obama or any other candidate.

Establishing trust will not be easy considering what we've experienced over the past seven years. Somehow, Obama seems to be generating that trust with voter with "just words" and "no solutions."

  • @bahhummingbug - Thanks for Noticing That Matthews "Interview"

I was beginning to think I was the only one who noticed. I have to say that the MSM seems to be going just a tad crazy lately. Are they still frustrated that the voters won't comply with their predictions or analysis? OMG, will they have to admit that each voter has the right to pull whatever lever they want when they get into that booth, no matter what they think?

I switched the channel when I saw Matthews demanding that the Obama supporter justify his support of his candidate. Some genuine questions and back and forth, is of course expected, but actually getting belligerent and barking "That's a problem, isn't it?" when the man could not immediately come up with a satisfactory answer is totally disgusting.

I just figure that Matthews knows where all the bodies are buried, otherwise MSNBC would have ditched him a long time ago. They suspend Dave Shuster for admittedly immature banter, but I would take him back in a heartbeat rather than have to watch Chris Matthews circle the drain for one more night.

One of the reasons I am watching so much coverage lately is because I am in one of those late primary states that is now considered so important to the Democrats. I get five or six recorded phone calls a day. I still have not made up my mind. I don't know if I am typical of the average primary voter in my state.

I hate to say it, because I like Olbermann's show, but MSNBC, along with most TV shows are not giving me any info that I need. Neither is the print press. Just more egotistical bullying, unsubstantiated rumors and useless analysis.

So except for the headline news online, I am shutting it all off until after the primaries.
