  • @ Wes

What dynamic are you using to determine Obama SHOULD offer HRC the VP slot?

Shouldn't Obama pick someone who he prefers? Shouldn't he pick someone he'd work well with? And most important, shouldn't he pick someone who'd HELP him win the general?

  • Need some reading comprehension lessons

Elephantman you need to go get some reading comprehension lessons. As prunes helpfully pointed out, I never said Rush invented the song, I said he played it over and over. Of course I'm sure you think the song was a hoot. You probably envision a black-faced minstrel singing it while shucking and jiving all over the place. Or perhaps you gladly sang along, but changed the lyrics just a tad? Instead of Negro you substituted the N word, the way Limbaugh would want you to. Ok Elephantman go get your reading lessons.

As for the commentor cow head soup, what planet are you living on bud? One Hillary is not advocating for a single payer health care plan, her's is subsidized insurance for poor folks. Basically it's the Massachusetts plan, mandate people buy health insurance and help out those that can't afford it. Two, the VA is a damn good system. My grandpa is a live and well today because of it. The rest of your post demonstrated your total ignorance on the subject. Just a rant you probably heard from Rush or Savage. The typical fear-mongering bs of the "nightmare of socialized medicine". Yeah that "nightmare" that all the other industrialized nations wouldn't give up for all the tea in China. If our system was so superior and their's so terrible, why won't they switch to ours? Maybe Rush is lying to you but you're too stupid to figure it out.

  • Dirty Trick Alert!!

    Dirty Trick Alert!!

    Revealed on today's Thom Hartmann...

One of the most-circulated clips of Michelle Obama has been edited to remove the word "really" from the phrase "I am [really] proud..."

    Get this out there!

  • @FilthyHarry

Ah, the old "he's unna th' good'uns" dynamic.

  • Filthy

If it was reversed and Hillary was the nominee, both with a ton of delegates, I would insist it be offered to him.

  • Clinton regrets her attacks

Clinton tried to deny making up the plagiarism attack.

    Of course that was bunk.

(sorry if this is a dupe of the previous comments)

  • @ Wes

Yes but considering the two individuals involved, him being younger and newer to the scene, coupled with his ability to 'inspire' he'd be a smart selection for VP for HRC. I don't think that can be said in the reverse.

Still Obama and HRC aside, as near as I can tell you seem to be saying that you believe that regardless of the two people involved, the second place person in a primary SHOULD be offered the VP slot?

  • The Wrong Criticism

I agree with Glenn about the scumminess of the current right wing ugly-machine. I am especially ticked off by the pouncing upon of Michelle Obama--for christ's sake, things have only started to improve for african-americans in her lifetime. Of course, she has a right to say that this is the first time she is proud of her government. I can't imagine anything a black person would feel proud about here.

But it is important to remember that Obama has several glaring weaknesses that have nothing to do with his race or ideology. The right wing will certainly whittle away at his credentials; I voted for him, but even I concede that he hasn't accomplished much of anything noteworthy enough to lead him to the White House. Second, his hope, hope, hope message will have undoubtedly become rancid by the end of the year. My guess is that people--rightly or wrongly--will undoubtedly backlash against the holier than thou stuff. Also, an array of politically expedient and objectively cowardly acts and decisions on his part are bound to get more attention in the coming months. Its fine to be a politician I suppose, but if you've set yourself up as the anti-thesis of the washington insider, everyone of those 'present' and 'absent' votes are going to burn like acid.

Finally, Obama's own discomfort with race will come back to haunt him and I suspect that it will become greater the closer he gets to the White House. I think rather than representing a sea-change in America's race dynamic, Obama is instead a black surrogate. Unthreatening, and not descended from slaves, he provides white people with a way of cleansing themselves of this country's racist legacy without having to actually vote for an African-American politician.

Just saying. Support Obama, but let's not check our brains at the door folks...

  • The right wing slime machine needs Obama to win

Seven years of George Bush and Republican failure has been hard on them. Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Rielly and the rest have resorted to real freak show tactics to keep themselves in the public eye. They need an enemy to stoke up their shrinking audience. Let's face it, how many more times can Coulter say "faggot" and get headlines? Its getting to the point where she'll have to bite the head off a chicken live on Larry King to get attention.

John McCain, the Republican, the Clintons...will attack Barack Obama with a fury because they're about to lose their stranglehold. "President Obama" offers the real possibity of a national high colonic. Listening to John McCain's speech last night I was struck by the absolute weirdness of promising four more years of the disgrace we've been subjected to these past seven years. It was George Bush wrapped in a creaky senile package. "More war, more war. Islamo-fascists are coming to kill you." *smile* It was a truly bizzarre performance. Hillary Clinton is becoming more Norma Desmond like by the hour. All they have is bile and venom to throw. This time I don't think it will work. People are drawn to Obama because he seems like a breath of fresh air. The more negative the others go, the more stagnant and fetid they seem.

  • Absolutely Not

Just when it's so damn close. There's still a chance that some of the forces of the runner-up, likely Hillary now in this case, could end up not on board. So you make every effort to soothe egos. Like I said, just offer it. That doesn't mean it's gonna happen.
