Were you listening to the current remarks by Reid and Durbin on the insistence by Junior of having Steven Bradbury's nomination passed by the Senate?
Durbin made very strong remarks about torture and lame legal opinions by Bradbury, the DOJ and his displeasure with Mukasey .
Reid told a story about how he was willing to have 84 Republican and eight nominees approved before the holiday recess, but not Bradbury and Junior said no. Reid went ahead and approved the 84 Republicans anyway because he felt they were important people that needed to be on board in the various government agencies.
Tomorrow junior has invited more nominees since that approval both Republicans and Democrats and is once again going to lie to his nation and say that it is the Democrats who will not approve nominees. Junior is doing all this just to try and get Bradbury approved. Reid and Durban are holding firm on this one.
You would sure think that those two would be pissed off enough to stop the FISA BS. I can dream can't I?
Yes, a number of us are following the Senate debate at Emptywheel, where Marcy is liveblogging the FISA aspects of the debate. Several of us are following the comments you summarized. I really think that if the Senate pounds very hard on the OLC issue, they can unravel a majority of the Bush illegalities.
Sessions is up now trying to rationalize the torture. He actually said his is happy that we waterboarded "only" 3 prisoners. He is really ranting.
I hope to see him in the docket at The Hague.
Jim W & Kitt...
CNN has something up with a few more details about the increased turnout, specifically, the percentage increase in a number of key states.

Thought you might find it interesting.
Now that's an interesting argument... given that the NSA has access to all the fat pipes, it would be rather incompetent of them just to be doing link analysis. Leave aside whether they should be doing more... that determination isn't their responsibility.
It used to be the responsibility of Congress...
If you're wondering whether he's stupid or evil, well, he ain't stupid.
That is a story that while I was serving in the Air Force and US Central Command, I couldn’t imagine would ever happen. There is so much that has happened under the Busheviks that would have been beyond my most creative imagination. It illustrates all the things that go tragically wrong when politics rules our military.
Somehow, after we learn of horror story upon horror story, we can’t get enough Americans stirred up as much as the fear mongering seems to. I think the selfishness that overtook too many Americans from the seventies on because of the luxuries many of us have and the capitalistic mentality of survival of the fittest, that our senses were numbed for anyone other than family or friends. There could probably be millions of law suits if the government could be sued. And yet these criminals keep smirking, lying and trashing our freedoms.
He even has some humanity and integrity in his character. Yet he continues to support his side and all the law breaking and liberty trashing because he is more loyal to his party than he is to his nation. loyalty to an ideology often leads to rationalizing away facts and the truth.
Sum up the six states and you see the republican turnout is not much changed from the previous records, but even without adding it up, and it is clear that the dems are up significantly.
It's a honest merchant who tells the truth.
We want one who never swears, and is never,
never prone to be hell-bent and very cruel.
So what if the GOP has amassed stolen fortunes?
The heavy burden is weighed @ the end, and they,
descend to darkened underground hellish 'ole Sheol.
It's written elsewhere, and heed the old maxims as counsel.
When a person can talk to the creep-nsa-trolls, ask the troll-nsa- to Listen to ya's. Let them hear you. It can only help? Perdition? O, let's hope not...Indeed, and the NSA should thank you, sincerely.
It may not be the final word; tell the nsa tho...that they have cheated or deceived themself? They destroyed their own self. It's true. It's folly. It's sheer stupidity. It's to cheat their own dang foolish self. It's the epitome of what is recorded throughout history as depredation and very stupid.
O, read, Reid, and O read all about it before ya's croak and the near 'ghost' or whatever...departs the old protoplasmic physical bodily mortal frame.
Decomposition? Yes. But what about the immaterial inner mysterious immaterial aspect, and very common and partial, and very inevitable natural. It's the normal part ~ of the shared human 'predicament'...huh.
O, it's a quiet-wiser truism?
Can the human earlobe-drum hear,
the ping-thump-bingo? It's not so strange.
It's recorded throughout written history, honestly.
Hear the black crow squawk outside right at this moment?
If a civilian human customer has a complaint grievance or a legitimate gripe about a item of merchandise that is flawed,
point it out again and again.
The GOP is a fraud. Recommend,
a change of heart before 'um dead?
The GOP is a 'ole proverbial real fool!
The GOP is a defect and seditious creep?
Can we begin to 'speak' more wholesome plan-positives?
Is this a Monday crow meeting? The black crows do squawk.
P.S. What happened to my paid-in-fool's, Salon's gold-star?
Especially when you realize that the link analysis does not require the "fat pipe" at all since the telecoms must save that info separately for billing purposes. So why pay the big bucks for everything if you could get what you need more cheaply off a telecom administration server? (Shooter is overpaid for his services, no matter how small his salary.)
P.D.A., and Mike Sultzer...Aycharaych too...etc., and all the honest contributions...gads.
It's my day that I'm supposed to be @ a V.A. group...
You know something? gads.
The trolls are even there.
This government needs to be shamed? Yes.
Of course it does, and for their own good.
