Dubya's cheeks - Time for Cocktailhag to pass out the "Ewwww!" award!

What is it about those guys from CT and their fascination with W's cheeks?

We should be thankful that the blackmail pics aren't public. Different cheeks, DYK.

I hope the pundits are hemorrhaging.

Thanks for the links.

WT - I feel your pain. After all, I'm in Ohio. ;->

On Cotton and Being Numb

Before the beer is gone and the night-guard-biting thingee goes in, I have to say I have cracked up more than I thought I might tonight hangin' 'round here. As usual, it's been fun.

So sorry. the Democratic rebuttal made me sigh, when maybe I meant to yawn to get more oxygen to my brain.

I heard healthcare. At the end I heard about the occupation in Iraq. I liked her comment regarding the National Guard. Where is the follow-through. I hope she has appealed to the heartland.

My words cannot express how I am aching for someone to stand up and ; and draw the line (some line, any freaking line!) somewhere.

It doesn't have to be Telecommunications immunity. But it might as well, be. For what it stands for, don'tcha think?

Gawd....

Pedinska, I really haven't got a clue. It's like watching What's Up, Tiger Lily? Their mouths keep moving, but what comes out of them beggars belief, as though the sound is being piped in from another planet. It's been that way for me since 1980, at least.

Whoops!

"certain members" in Congress just hate to sell out for political partisanship.

Please remove the words "just hate to". Fingers moving faster than brain. Or vicee versee.

psst, Jebbie - pedinska@yahoo.com . I think Glenn's too busy right now. Understandable.

Jebbie...

Yeah, after David Brooks gave Sebelius props for her demeanor, and her unifying message, he did complain about her singling out the pundits... "...are we not human; do we not bleed..." or something like that. I just smiled.

An interesting potpourri at HuffPo, including

a word cloud of Bush's speech

Wonkette's "The State of Your Liver" (8th annual SOTU drinking game)

a pre-buttal by two of the 30-something Democrats

Chris Shays kissing GWB (What is it about those guys from CT and their fascination with W's cheeks? Didn't Shays see what hay was made from Lieberman's kissing W?)

And for posterity's sake, Think Progress's fact-checking of W's speech. I'll bet the whole thing must be 3 or 4 times longer than the speech if they really did a thorough job.

There's more, but I don't want to give it all away...

CSPAN must've edited that out...

I think I even saw him tear a podling's head off and suck its essence out from its neck. The repeated standing of the Republicans in attendance was actually them jumping up to catch the headless, lifeless bodies of the podlings Cheney threw their way.

but it sure makes sense. I'm probably projecting with the cattle prod theory since I'd dearly love to hear them yell, in unison, "Don't prod me bro!".

Congressional Republicans must be fed Cheney's leavings or they get restless and stop mating.

Ok, the vodka's gone, so I can't even begin to go here.

Sebelius

At first, I was a little disappointed in her demeanor and message but after a short bit of thought, I believe she may have hit precisely the correct nerve of the American people.

I gotta admit though, her comment about those politicos being more interested in how many times what side stood up, as opposed to doing any actual commentary on the contents of the speech itself did give me a grin. I imagined Tweety sitting there, hearing that, and then checking to see if he still possessed testicles.

WT - whattup with Trent Franks (I'm still watching CSPAN)?

He really believes we need to be ready to shoot down those ballistic missiles from Iran.

Too much time in the sun?

Oh, and it just breaks his heart to see "certain members" in Congress just hate to sell out for political partisanship.

Wow. He's just so.....so....earnest.

Pedinska

But I'm more visual. It's that smarmy little smirk that makes me want to jump up and slap the screen. Thank goodness I don't have Bystander's shotgun.

And I love how when Cheney stands up, he looks like some evil wizard skeksi from The Dark Crystal.

Anonymust

Well, yes, but the screen is as close as any of us are going to ever get.....actually, to be honest, I was thinking more along the lines of a strong right cross....

Got a 12 and a 20. Take your pick.

That's why when I choose to watch, I watch via computer link. I do like my monitor. It functions as a brake on impulsive response. Almost failed with Kit Bond earlier today. There's not enough C2H5OH in my cupboard to save me.

Monday, January 28, 2008 07:50 PM

it's more like nitrous oxide

Good point. My roots have been throbbing since the man announced he was running.

John W re: Spector's substitution. Yes. Spector's song and dance routine became transparent years ago. That amendment would halt actions just as effectively as total immunity. The admin's response to judicial subpeonas would be exactly the same as their response to Congressional ones.

Monday, January 28, 2008 07:46 PM

Pedinska...

I was watching PBS, which is usually pretty good about responses and other speeches... They had Sebelius covered. David Brooks even gave her high marks for her delivery, noting how hard it is to sound "natural" under those circumstances.

...and, just for the record, it was not the screen that I wanted to slap.

Monday, January 28, 2008 07:45 PM

I decided not to drink on an empty stomach

Chicken piccata accompanied a fresh beet and rocket salad topped with a dab or two of fresh tarragon-flavored goat cheese. Far too much pinot grigio.

Finally, a splash of Hennessey.... Okay, the pain is now bearable. Do I have anything new to say about this lying putz of a president...? Sadly, no. The only consolation is that he seems to be afflicted by terminal Dorian Gray syndrome. Which reminds me...can anyone tell if Cheney is still alive? Without a pocket mirror or a hatpin handy, I'm in no position to judge.
