  • "Laurel is poisonous"?

No wonder I feel like passing out after putting some bay leaves in my marinara sauce...

  • Thanks be to Glenn

We should all applaud Glenn Greenwald's continuing excellent work exposing the forces attempting to strip away protections of our civil liberties.

  • Thank You

    Glenn,

I have been greatly discouraged in the face of the abdication of the rule of law and denigration or should I say destruction of all that makes this country possible by people who profess to allegedly being American citizens and have the best interest of our nation at heart. I am dumbfounded that they are destroying that which they profess to love in all their empty patriotic rhetoric tinged with dangerous theocratic bullshit.

If these people are given what they want, in this instance, and many others, then it is only a very very short while before the fat lady sings and we say goodbye to America.

Having said all that, I want to give up sometimes but I won't until they bury me six feet under because a life lived in tyranny is no life at all, and I thank you more than you can know for lifting me up when I feel so down and helpless to do anything to prevent them from spreading the gray pall of oppression over America while eviscerating people across the globe with their buzz words of war on terrorism, when they are doing nothing but creating more of the same, and since when do you fight ideology with bullets.

I am one who calls our government almost everyday, but see nothing substantive as a result of that and you have lifted me up knowing that we have got their attention at least. I list my blog below, it is unimportant to anyone but me, as just an example of people like me who really do care, just me speaking some of the things I feel.

    thx Glenn

  • kovie?

To feel better...pour marinara sauce...in the bath water?

If you weren't a lawyer, you'd run a good neocon bathhouse.

    You say?

You do propose a national scrub a rub-rub-dub bath party?

    no comment.

Bathe with a bare polar bear who doesn't drink beer in the tub?

Thanks. We understand better now how a good lawyer can not stink, but thinks.

  • Stupid question...

but I'll ask it anyway. Why is Harry Reid the Democratic leader? He seems to be Joe Lieberman's kind of Democrat. Why didn't they put an actual Democrat in the job?

I emailed Dodd my support. And I like the suggestion of the letter writer here that the dems get up and leave the SotU when Bush accuses them of endangering us. But unfortunately this group of "democrats" cower in fear whenever Bush says "boo." I hope Dodd can inspire others to unite with him and to speak out.

  • Fighting for our Constitution

    Thanks, Glenn -

The civil-liberties trenches where you work, trying to rouse disaffected liberals from their torpor, while battling the Beltway crowd - we who love our flawed country need you. I think I hear the cadences of Thomas Paine now and then. Keep lobbing those essays over the hill.

  • @bebop-o

Do you suppose I am the only one who doesn't understand a thing you write?

  • the real reasons there cannot be retroactive immunity

Here's a point I think even Glen is missing when we discuss or write about "retro active immunity"

If allowed, this "retro active immunity" those companies and officers of the company and even the lowest of laborers would have access to our property, the would have been allowed to take information they are not entitled, they will be given the cover of this law to keep the property they took and claim it as theirs.

And the courts will be forced to decide on their behalf!

Those stolen from will not be allowed redress when our property is discovered as stolen, nor will we be allowed discovery to find the extent of the theft, the level of damage.

    for instance;

When we find our manuscript plagiarized, though we can prove such with no doubt, the telecom will be allowed to profit from that manuscript regardless that it was stolen.

If I have a new design that will give an auto 100 mpg and the telecoms has acquired that design through their wiretapping, they can sell my design and I will not be allowed redress.

If there is someone depraved enough to use the information they have to follow my daughter where she will be, I will not be able to find out who committed the crime and how they found the information they used to do whatever they did to my daughter

This is far more important then simply protecting constitutional freedom, there are real tangible issues.

We must be allowed redress when we find we have been harmed, when we find crimes have been committed against us, those criminals cannot have refuge under cover of making believe it was for national security

  • Polar Bop

"Bathe with a bare polar bear who doesn't drink beer in the tub?"

    -- bebop-o

That's a tall order, Bop. Because all the polar bears I've ever known or known about always drink beer in the tub. It's just how they are.

  • bebop-o?

Me a lawyer? I did once interview the dean of my university's law school for the college paper, but that's about as close as I ever got to attending one. But I'll take that as a compliment?

Not sure about wasting perfectly good marinara on the likes of Wolfowitz, though, unless it's some industrial-strength variety produced by some Bush-loving agribiz that's gone rancid...

    Cheers.

  • To human bull terrier law firms do plan to sue...

    GOPS.

don't snarl at your own belly button.

while in the bath-water, scrub cynical,

dirty-dog backs, and get rid of the fleas.

musing about the horrible state of the union,

don't chow-down on poison Chinese dog biscuits.

send the bath house-maiden out for fresh doughnuts.

drink fresh goat milk that was squirted into clean mugs.

'Pep Boys' GOP's remain puzzled at why they face law suits.

  • Please.

Someone explain to me for I am too dense.

What Anonymous is trying to say here today?

    Is Anonymous a pig-Latin translator,

or happy as a pig in a dirty-mud puddle?

Maybe he's a flea bit mangy black poodle?
