Your Harry Reid-led Senate in action

The Democratic majority leader finally takes a bold, aggressive stance -- against members of his own caucus -- to ensure that the president's demands are met in full.

Dodd = New Majority Leader

Setting aside for the moment the idea of recalling Reid, what is the likelihood of Dodd challenging Reid for Leadership? And how can we support him?

Anonymust

and now I'm wondering if that's because it's so much harder (or maybe less legal?) to gather data from them.

I'm pretty sure the original driving force for their demise was when cell phones became so widespread. Of course, in the current environment, cell phones offer the great advantages of being tied to a single person and now even giving off very accurate location information. Just more data that needs adequate oversight by adults if it is to be turned over to the intelligence community.

Come on, Glenn. Figure this out. (no pressure.)

Can Pelosi & Reid somehow be recalled? Is there some sort of No-Confidence vote that could be backed by fellow democrats? When an elected official repeatedly and continuously turns a deaf ear on their constituency, is there really no recourse? No way to force their resignation? Or just plain fire them? If we voted them in, we can’t vote them out?

By their every vote and act and farce, they show that they are Republicans, not Democrats. And yet, because of them, the Democratic Party will suffer greatly, as the Republican party suffered this election past. But more importantly, America will not heal, and we will go blindly into fascism. This country cannot get past what has been wrought without justice, and there is no justice within any of these “leaders.”

Do not believe all the smoke and mirrors about what kinds of acts are permitted within these surveillance bills, they are all farce. Peace-groups have been targeted, from the beginning, among others—journalists, regular citizens. Even me. When I was abroad and sent emails back here to friends after seeing things on the news abroad — photos of dead children laid side-by-side spanning a city block in Iraq, a video of a soldier beating Abu G prisoners in their genitals with a rifle-butt — things that were never shown here on US news media, which I was also checking. I kept asking my friends whether they were seeing these things. What happened when I sent the emails? The portion of my emails asking whether those here had seen these things had been erased. On every single one of my emails, every time. This is not about defense. This is all political.

Of course they are scouring for content. From everyone. I mean, how in hell can they decide you’re a terrorist unless they examine content? If they were looking merely for connections to known terrorists, then they would already be covered by previous FISA warrants!

Also: Is there no recourse for lying under oath during two swearing-in testimonies for “upholding and protecting the constitution?” Is there an independent investigation that could be started outside of waiting for impeachment? Can We the People go over the heads of Congress? Can criminal proceedings occur after they have ended their term of office? Outside of the Hague? Does no one even want to quote Reagan’s Trust but Verify?

I keep waiting for WAR-GATE to begin, still disbelieving that high treason has occurred, continues to occur, and yet those we entrusted march lock-step.

Come on, Glenn. Figure this out. (no pressure.)

Dear Sen. Edwards,

Dear Sen. Edwards,

It is my understanding that even though you do not retain the right to vote in the Senate, you DO have the right to attend Senate sessions and visit the floor of the Senate.

I am asking you to take it upon yourself and travel to Washington to support Sen. Chris Dodd in his fight against passage of the FISA Bill if it contains amnesty for those who broke the law.

Hopefully, if you take the lead on this, Sens. Clinton and Obama will follow your lead and also join in the fight to reinstate the Rule of Law in this country. Frankly, there is nothing more important than that, regardless of who represents the Democrats in the Presidential election.

Please, please do whatever you can to derail the Harry Reid train.

Thank you very much,

(Jebbie)

Here's my letter to Senator Reid

Dear Senator Reid,

I am writing today to express my strong opposition to your position on the FISA bill about to be brought to the Senate floor. It is simply outrageous that the bill would include immunity for the telecom companies who assisted the adminstration in breaking the law. The president has admitted to breaking the law, and the Senate and Congress have done nothing to hold him accountable. Instead you want to retroactively legalize it. That is unforgivable. The administration ignores subpoenas, and what happens? Nothing. They break the FISA law, nothing.Torture prisoners, Nothing. The president adds signing statements saying he can overrule the law he is signing, Nothing.

By doing nothing you are destroying the checks and balances that have kept this country strong for over 200 years.

I would like to take a minute to express my particular outrage at the way you have treated Senator Dodd. When any Republican feels like holding up a Democratic bill you act as if you are powerless to stop them. Yet when a member of your own party puts a hold on a bill, to stand up for our rights and the constitution, you refuse to honor it. When Republicans insist on filibustering every bill you up , you allow them to do it without actually having to filibuster. When a member of your own party opposes a bill so strongly, you insist on forcing the issue.

My question Senator Reid is WHY? Why will you not stand up to the president? Why will you not stand up for us? Why are YOU not outraged at what this administration has done ?

It seems to me that if THIS congress does not hold the administration accountable for their excesses, the next one or the one after will push even further. How much further do we go before we look back and realize we are living in a Dictatorship? Sinclair Lewis is famous for saying "When Fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross." How much further will you let them push before it is too late? I hope you act before then.
