Leverage, but only if they use it

To repeat something I said on the previous thread, the all-important "Economic Stimulus" bill is all the leverage the Democrats need if they only would use it. They can make this simple. Bush can have his stimulus bill very quickly after:

    • Retroactive immunity and basket warrants are off the table. Minimization procedures with real teeth are back.
    • Every subpoena is satisfied.

    That would be true bipartisanship.

By the way, here's a little tidbit I just ran across from the folks who already have started that little party in Davos:

AT&T Inc. is still evaluating whether to examine traffic on its Internet lines to stop illegal sharing of copyright material, its chief executive said Wednesday.

CEO Randall Stephenson told a conference at the World Economic Forum that the company is looking at monitoring peer-to-peer file-sharing networks, one of the largest drivers of online traffic but also a common way to illegally exchange copyright files.

It looks like Senator Dodd would be helping more that just the FISA bill if he can keep his "colleagues" away from that meeting this weekend.
