No Edwards coverage?
Edwards?
Corporations good. Edwards bad.
It's all about who is perceived to be winning and whose offense is sputtering, who commits a personal foul on defense, or who you think has the momentum due to an ill-advised turnover. That is what our political dialogue has come down to.
They spin, we vote. Edwards wasn't "sexy", so he was overlooked. The constest between "a black man" and "a woman named Clinton" was the story. Now, the story is the "downfall" of a "Clinton". What chance does Democracy have without a free and unbiased media?
you could see it coming a mile away .. before Hillary announced .. I knew it would come to this(meaning the TradMed bashing of Hillary) ... I am glad Hillary started to call out Tweety the other night .. but it is not enough .. the TradMed in this country is a disgrace
why they're losing viewers and readers. Who is really in a deathspiral, Hillary Clinton, who has a senate seat to return to if she loses the nomination, or the traditional media who are becoming less and less important by the day. While other media spring up to fill the gaps (like Salon, DailyKos, FireDogLake, etc.) providing honest, objective journalism, the dying corpus of an antiquated press corps show how out of touch with America it really is. These same buffoons, I mean pundits, are the same people who only weeks ago were telling us how inevitable Hillary Clinton's nomination was after all. Yes, these are the same people who when looking for a new voice for the New York Times opinion page found William Kristol, a man whose only qualification seems to be that his is consistently wrong about everything. Thank you, traditional media, for only hastening your own demise. You will not be missed.
Yawn!!!
Glenn snap out of it get over your anguish!!!
VIVA OBAMA..VIVA OBAMA..UNITED WE STAND..UNITED WE STAND....
from this salon pro-clinton coverage, but here you go-- garbage.
First of all, call her "Clinton"-- not Hillary or HRC. This first name stuff is an absurd usage in public life.
Second, have you skipped the last fifty years in journalism wherein the voice of the journalist has been opened up with epistemic and moral self-consciousness? Who do you think reads you, a bunch of juvenile Republicans nattering like eighth graders about "bias"?
Third, when a journalist thinks she or he is witnessing history, how should they talk about it? You given any thought to what these cynical, privileged, status quo figures may have witnessed that does not fit with your nifty dismissal narrative of Obama?
You have the opportunity to think here, not just repeat. Use the opportunity!
Being a steady poster on Freerepublic.com before being banned for not shutting off half my brain back in 2004 I can attest to the fact that that Freepers were positively certain and excited that Dean would be the nominee.
They were gearing up for a big hate fest on Dean- until Kerry came along and they switched gears without a heartbeat. Kerry was "even worse" than Dean.
Something you see time and again with the reich wingers on the net- the current Dem candidate is ALWAYS the MOST EVIL ONE EVER- far surpassing in vile evil than the last one.
So you will see Freepers say things like this "I hated Kerry but at least he was someone who wouldn't surrender to the Islamofascists like X (fill in the blank) will!"
The current Enemy is always the worst one ever- more uniquely evil than the last enemy. This is true with Dem opponents and with foreign countries and cultures. "Islam" is so evil- so much more evil than the Soviet Union (which is now considered among the reich wing to have been a sane and rational enemy and "Western" enemy that "played by the rules") that all tactics are justified against this "threat"- which is, of course, much worse than the Soviet Union.
By the way. Hillary is not out. She is our next president. It will be "Obama who?" in two months.
How do we stop them before they kill the country in their corporate, adolescent desire to be the big, cool guys at long last. As long as you and Joan aren't on it, and a few other fair reporters and columnists, I'm tempted to hope the press bus is the next bus accident, no survivors. The idea that the press is liberal is the biggest scam perpetrated by the right-wing. This press isn't even fair. The bow to their corporate bosses and the candidates that suck up to them--which is how we got George Bush, God save us. Progressives have to stop them and that means go after them without mercy--canceling subscriptions, writing endless letters to the editor (hopefully a few will get through), talking to friends and neighbors, whatever else anyone can thinks of.

The right-wing/media partnership is currently engaged in its catty sadism rituals over Hillary's possible demise. That's the two-headed beast that was single-handedly responsible for milking the sex scandals into Bill Clinton's impeachment against the wishes of most of the country -- and it was the same beast that enabled so many of the abuses of the last seven years -- and they're now finally able to celebrate gleefully what they think is their long-elusive victory over the Clintons.
I haven't voted yet. Neither have most people. The two-headed beast should be offered a choice: keep the Edison/Mitofsky/NEP exit polls or keep your FCC licenses. Then they should be told that knocking people out of the race on their pages or shows, before the public has expressed its opinion, in their debates, or in their actions and reports, will result in prosecution for election fraud. Then they should reinstate the five year license renewal process that requires these jerks to solicit letters from their audience to prove they've served the public good. And they should require that on and before election day in any primary or general election, that each network begin and end all election coverage with the amount of money they have earned in the election cycle to date from taking in money to run political ads. All salaries of political commentators should be run with their bylines, and all affiliations, parties, champagne brunches, rides on busses and airplanes, invitations to weddings, birthday parties, cocktail parties or debutantes balls should be published by anyone wishing to participate in election coverage. All pictures of commentators crying, screaming, or acting un-commentatorential should be posted on YouTube on or before the date of their first broadcast or column, and any dating or other liaisons, together with any and all embarrassing pictures should likewise be published on YouTube. Any stock, shareholder relationships, board seats, vacation houses paid for by dubious means, should be relinquished. The price of all commentator and talking head haircuts should be published, the brand of their shampoos should be published as well. And just for good measure, for 24 hours before the beginning of the campaign season, the video of Baba Wawa sprawling on Adnan Kashogi's fur waterbed shall be played on continuous loop with an appropriate caption below it about the the standards of journalists who require that candidates act "presidential".
If that doesn't stop them from covering everything except the news and then throwing the primaries and elections at the drop of a hat, nothing will.
