  • Disinformation is not as good as datinformation.

I wonder how many of us on 9/10/2001 could have imagined the events of the last six years?

That Habeas Corpus would be destroyed?

That the US, post Vietnam, would once again occupy an Asian nation?

One of the problems I see with what is happening now is that the sheer scale of events and the number of outrages has multiplied beyond our ability to even remember and much less comprehend them.

Watch the video I link to above and ask yourself one single question.

Why did Ctheney have America jump into the quagmire?

In the answer to that question likes the sword to cut this Gordian knot.

  • RE: LIHOP

Not to be confused with IHOP, a conspiracy of another sort.

LIHOP I can entertain. I consider that within the realm of possibilities but even I have difficulty believing they had any idea how coordinated and complex the attack was or any real specifics of it.

  • @ Paul R.

Try the pickled pancakes with relish at IHOP!

  • WTC Collapse

What frustrates me the most when debating this particular topic, is the ‘defense in depth’ tactics of those who believe the building was deliberately demolished. This tactic is what I was thinking of when I made the comparison to Intelligent Design supporters.

For example, the squibs: I could point out that, I too, have no problem seeing the squibs. I also have no problem seeing that the intensity of the ‘squib explosion’ begins relatively gradually and then becomes relatively more intense. Exactly the effect one would expect to see if the squib were caused by the pressure of the collapsing building above it. And exactly the opposite effect one would expect to see if the squib was caused by an explosion.

Now, once I point this out. The conspiracy advocate will simply move to another piece of evidence. If I debunk that, another shift will occur, and so on. My point is this: it is unlikely you (my hypothetical conspiracy advocate) came up with your squib evidence yourself. There was a source. Probably the same source that feed you about 9 other pieces of ‘evidence.’ Now either (a) this source did not now enough about squibs to give you the correct information, or (b) this source just lied to you. At what point are going to stop arguing with me, and start seriously re-examining your source?

Another source of vexation is people who seem bewildered that the complete collapse of a 1360 foot building resulted in effects somewhat different than the collapse of, say, their garage. “Pulverized? Things were pulverized? How could that be?” I don’t know, man. Seems pretty obvious to me.

  • Ctheney? Cthulu Ctheney?

That Habeas Corpus would be destroyed?

Lincoln destroyed it first! Then that rat bastard commie FDR did it in!

  • @Timberman and LIHOP

Every poet has antecedEvery poet has antecedents.

Oh yeah smart guy? What about the first human poet, eh? Ok, that is sorta attacking my previous argument about the Gods of Mt Olympus vs Jesus as equally "plausible" supernatural entities with equal godly "evidence".

I like having an acronym associated with my own suspicions about the real "conspiracy" of 9/11: LIHOP. I go with LIHOP much more than I could go with IHOP (though the pancakes are to die for) short of real solid evidence. I'm kinda a party pooper in that regard. I tend to go with the "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" line of argument. Hell, I just like evidence to back up claims period. But that's just me.

  • Paul Rosenberg..

I think tempus lays out a very plausible scenario of intentional government neglect, expecting to get an excuse for war at the cost of 100-200 innocent civilian lives.

100-200 civilian lives, off camera, does not a new Pearl Harbor make.

The PNAC documents expressly pine for a new Pearl Harbor.

The Bush administration got a new Pearl Harbor.

It was mainly Saudi citizens that were the hijackers, the Bush family has a long involvement with the Saudi hierarchy and indeed with the bin Laden family itself.

Osama bin Laden was a creature of the CIA..

Bush 41 was once director of the CIA..

I can buy some coincidences, I have had at least one very strange one in my own life.

The sheer number of coincidences arrayed around 9/11/2001 would make Occam reach escape velocity in his grave.

Once is happenstance, twice is circumstance and three times is enemy action.

  • I confess

I planted the charges in the twin towers.

There. Now prove I didn't. Checkmate!!

  • @Ginny

    [To me]:

You claim that "The known reality, laid out by a wide range of highly credible researchers, is utterly damning in and of itself," Where is this laid out? The FEMA and NIST reports countered all of the fire and pancake theories promoted by Popular Mechanics, NOVA and other 'credible' individuals. Meanwhile some highly credible scientists have also laid out very clear arguments, using scientific method instead of the FEMA/NIST reliance on absurd computer models, that point to the reality that WE DON"T KNOW what happened.

    (1) "The known reality" I was referring to was Bush Administration criminality and lawlessness. The "9/11 truth" circus is merely a sideshow distraction for people easily fooled by shiny objects.

    (2) The idea of opposing "scientific method" to "absurd computer models" says everything that really needs to be said about your argument. It's logically isomorphic with countless global warming deniers.

Lots of them like to posit a conspiracy, too.

  • Aycharaych's Next Book?

    A sequel to Liberal Fascism!

    he's got "the logic" down!

  • @L.W.M.

Your willingness to conform is blinding. Before your mind closes completely you might want to try slapping yourself in the face with a fresh tuna. You will find it strangely enlightening and it may reopen the cracks and crevices trapping those stagnant assumptions. Don't try this with canned or frozen tuna. The reaction may be too harsh, although in your case maybe not.

By the way my claim that Mexico was invading Texas was meant as a joke. It may have been a bad joke or it may be that you do not have a sense of humor. I live in San Antonio where anglos are a minority, so in a sense, we are already being occupied (this is another joke).
