He accepted the theory evolution before he didn't!
"Our international leadership has become confused and directionless. We are no longer the shining beacon of freedom and justice to our fellow nations."
Totally false and misleading statement. "International leadership" has never been clearer vis a vis imperialism and colonialism. We have NEVER been a "shining beacon of freedom and justice". That's the Big Lie bullshit that lives in our public education system of "proper narrative" history (ask an American Indian for corroboration or a Katrina survivor on the streets of NO post storm staring down the gun barrel of a Blackwater mercenary).
We don't turn out this myth, this great steaming pile of misinformation, we stay mired right where we're at, with minor adjustments in narrative and technique to maintain the SQ. Next big adjustment to narrative: Global Warming. The newest clever ruse to perpetuate genocidal capitalism. Al Gore is a porky pig insider/liar.
It was also fun to go through a 30-foot snow tunnel to the outhouse.
That brought back memories for me.
My father has a cabin on a lake in Ontario, Canada. The winter he had it built I accompanied him on the trip. I was 10. We had to go through a snow tunnel to reach the outhouse too. I'm short now, but I was really short then, and the snow seemed to me to be at least 20 feet deep. Angus, the camp cook, who took care of me during the day when the others were working teased me by telling me there was an old bear that hung out by the outhouse looking for a good meal. You can imagine the speed records I must have broken for peeing in an outhouse after that. ;->
Angus was a great guy. I still have a letter somewhere that he wrote and mailed me that was written on birch bark. He Even fashined the envelope out of it. He was such a patient person. We would play cards for hours and when I tired of that he would get some bark and make me a teepee and canoe so I could play with that.
Thanks for the memory RMP.
Are you saying that only faith in the "Church of Darwin" is acceptable to you? That is as bad as the Cristian literalists that completely hid/missed the mystic message of the perennial philosophy.
Next thing we know, you'll be saying you believe in the state religion of pissing in cups! You cup pisser!
somebody on DKos laid out in exquisite categories why Bloomberg would/could/should run, but neglected to mention that, ahem, Bloomberg is Jewish and would get the Jewish vote. DailyKos, as folks quickly learn, is territory where critique of Israel is verboten: Troll ratings befall the least bleat that sounds like, "What about the Palestinians."
Jewish liberal democrats might just be drawn to a Bloomberg candidacy, which would siphon votes from a democratic candidate.
But they would be the only votes to flee the D.
In a climate where books like Sylvain Cypel's Walled and Walt & Mearsheimer's Israel Lobby have become acceptable; where it is growing more and more acceptable to say the obvious: that Israel is behaving brutally toward the Palestinians and attempting to propagandize the rest of the world to think that Israel is the victim, but the rest of the world sees that blood being shed and the children being starved are Palestinian children, not Israeli children; then it is beyond fantastic for a Jew who ardently supports Israel to expect that he can be elected.
Bloomberg is a stalking horse.
The question is, which Repub faction has a hand on his reins?
In the fragment you quoted RP uses the word "theory" to cast doubt on the fact of evolution. The omitted parts that you emphasized are "waffling" and do not contribute much of anything. The whole fragment does give a better feel for the man, (and not in a favorable sense,) but it is no great difference..

How do you know that? A mind reader?
I denounce the pure faith of Darwinism as taught in secondary schools in the USA, and yet believe totally in evolution. The "evolution" taught today is theory, and one of many. We see a large amount of evidence for saltation, and yet that is not allowed as it runs counter to the "faith of Darwin". I reject the faith of the fundamentalist christian church, as well as the Church of Charles Darwin.
But the real question is: why did Sullivan feel the need to change Ron Paul's words. You would be hoping mad if I quoted you in a similar way on some hot button issue. No?
Besides, is his personal faith of any importance compared to bringing our troops home from around the world? Are we saying, "fuck peace" --- what about matters of faith?
I think Paul Dirks was calling Ron Paul either a liar or a moron because Ron Paul was making the dishonest or moronic claim that he doesn't know how 'theory' is defined in regards to the 'theory' of evolution.
But ol' Bucky has his fangs out now and will continue to use his newest loved word 'SAVAGE' or 'SAVAGED' to define what it is anyone is doing who makes statements that disagree with Ron Paul's approach.
The word theory has a number of distinct meanings in different fields of knowledge, depending on their methodologies and the context of discussion. In science, a theory is a mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation. It follows from this that for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not necessarily stand in opposition. For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theories commonly used to describe and explain this behaviour are Newton's theory of universal gravitation (see also gravitation), and general relativity.
In common usage, the word theory is often used to signify a conjecture, an opinion, or a speculation. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality. This usage of theory leads to the common incorrect statement "It's not a fact, it's only a theory." True descriptions of reality are more reflectively understood as statements which would be true independently of what people think about them. In this usage, the word is synonymous with hypothesis.
