You've misunderstood me. Truly. I'm neither a pacifist nor a non-interventionist, but when I think of intervention, I don't generally think of pointing guns at people, or moving aircraft carriers around, not immediately, anyway. I hate shortcuts, especially those which tend to get people killed for no apparent reason other than to demonstrate that we can kill them.
You know what I mean/meant. I should have said it better. You resist the inevitable, often for good reason. Like Al Gore taking the high road and not fighting back in 2000 or Kerry taking the high road many times in 2004 and not fighting back.
As Mencken once said,
"Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
There was that time you seemed to agree we could have stayed out of WWI. Really, it wasn't possible. To do so would have put off the inevitable and maybe changed the course of history for the worse. Just send the idjit boy over to PZ Meyers with Fred Reed's stupid nonsense. One thing I regret is Glenn's decision to let Lew Rockwell carry his articles. They retitle them sometimes.
