    Disappearing Update:

    That was me. Right after I posted it, Salon made this post the cover story, and the update was quite long and on a somewhat different topic and thus really should have been its own stand-alone post, which I will probably just post tomorrow.

    I don't mind posting long updates on top of long posts if the post has been up all day, since I generally assume that most readers who see the update will have already read the post. But where someone new comes and sees a long post and a long update together, it can be daunting.

    None of you is hallucinating - at least not about this - so that's good.
