  • Bebop-o....

If you write back to J. M. Greysky, please tell him (?) that he is missed.

  • I Predict

I predict that Aycharaych will incessantly try to bait people into pointless arguments.

    Why not surprise me?

  • Yep. Okay.

Disappointing, discouraging, disgusting, despicable, but - probably - not surprising as I think about it. One could hope for better, but if "better" were to be had, we wouldn't be facing the fix we're in. Compliant Senators and a compliant press. We knew that. Doesn't make it feel any better but, as taken aback as I am, I really shouldn't be surprised. Somewhere I commented that the return volleys would be more targeted, more vicious, and more efficient in the interim.

I'm hoping Senator Dodd, the ACLU, EFF, Glenn and Jane will offer some guidance on best practices going into the next round. And, I've spent some time thinking about how I can recruit people I know into this fight, as well. Round 2 will be less fun than Round 1.

    @ noonan

Kohl: ...we must give our government the tools it needs to protect the American people...

That bit right there, has been in every email response I've received from my own Senator Salazar. Somewhat different elaborations have preceded and followed. It's been repeated without amendment in every single reply. It now strikes me as boilerplate language when I get it. He's merely informing me of his intention; he's not responding to my concern.

There is no longer anything about Reid’s family on the R.N.C. Web site. The offending lines were removed on orders from Karl Rove.

It becomes all too clear that Reid made a deal with Rove under threat that his corruption would continue to be exposed, and that Reid's criminality would be protected if he toed the neocon line.

Busheviks characteristically reward political loyalty by protecting criminality. This kind of coercion of corrupt politicians has a long and distinguished history, and its likely many more have been similarly compromised.

Reid now has little choice but to be another neocon shill, under the cover that he's a Democrat and therefore the pretense that he's a reasonable person, and not a Republican.

Welcome to the gravy train, Mr. Reid, and congratulations on having avoided humiliation and prison.

  • Anonymous. okay.

Where did I call a "Creep" a creep?

I really was to be elsewhere some time ago.

Before I'm labeled a doggone damn scrounge creep,

I'll creep away today and enjoy the beautiful day.

Thanks. I can offend. I know that very well, indeed.

With respect, I'll follow Greysky's lead and only read.

  • Paul Dirks

Just read the other day about a "rendition flight" that went down in a South American country which had 4 tons of cocaine in its' cargo.

How the Bushs' have been able to cover their own drug running-for arms via the CIA is beyond me.From the failed Coast guard boats in Fla. that GHB41 had his buddy (maker of Donzi boats)and his own "Fidelity"-cigarette-boat-to catch drug-runners-to Abramoffs' Fla. off-shore floating casinos--it all adds up to drugs. (btw-the owner of the Coast-guard boats mysteriously died the day before he was set to testify on the crap he had built the Coastguard.

Translation: "I dare not answer the question. Let's cover that over by issuing a lame smear instead."

  • The Imperial Senate

The wonderful ways of the Imperial senate. So its this how liberty dies, not with a bang, but with a whimper?

Heating oil is pricey. Must Blow Hard on the fire to bring warmth and cheer this Yule, or else keep illusion of warmth with spicy rum drinks (yummy, but too much not good for fat mini-hobbits, even filtered through mummy). No creeping after drugs, legal or illegal.

Greysky sounds nice. Nice as you? Handwritten messages are beautiful. So nice to get in the mail.

Have nothing to add to these conversations mostly, except nodding "mm-hm, yup's". "Absolutely right." But I enjoy it when Glenn keeps posting late in the day and starts to get really snarky but still completely logical. A true child of the Enlightenment. Reminds me of a debate competition where an opponent stumped me because I couldn't provide a complete definition of "human" during cross-examination. I fumed because it was an English classroom and not a dictionary in sight. He won, but I didn't make the mistake again. Always have your tools on hand.

  • No....

Do you disagree with my position that anyone who votes for a politician who supports the drug war is assisting the continuing slide of the US of A into a form of fascism?

There, I've answered the question. Insofar as the question is related to illegal wiretapping, it's on-topic.

To the degree its couched with "I dare you to answer" then it seems design to pick a fight and derail the thread.

  • Reid and company

In Beltway World, anyone who objects to lawbreaking by the government and telecoms is either unserious or insincere

Anybody who gets in the way of the neocon machine gets targeted for a smear campaign. It's the old Rove playbook. And it gets worse.

Cheney to Reid: "Support our lawbreaking or we'll expose yours."

    All very insidious.

  • I enjoy your comments Be!

Tempers are nasty these long days of winter-cabin fever and the short days hit us all. But don't worry-the day of the the sun comes tomorrow to lengthen the days and cheer up our spirits.

  • A complex grown man is capable of more than one intent , or interest

...it can't possibly be the case that Dodd actually believes in what he's doing and saying. He can't really care if telecoms are protected from the consequences of their years of deliberate, highly profitable lawbreaking. Clearly, Dodd's just doing all of this to prop up his flagging presidential campaign, just a cynical ploy for attention, not because he has any actual convictions that there is something wrong with granting such an extraordinary and corrupt gift to lawbreaking telecoms. -- Greenwald

I suspect, based on listening to Dodd speak, that he is perfectly capable of being both in earnest and doing what he has to spark up his flagging presidential bid. The man has been in the political big leagues for a looong time now. I consider him, at present, to be useful advocate on behalf of an issue I agree with. I'll support him on that basis. Lionize him only so far as is useful in pursuit of your goal. He deserves some prasie for this effort that he's lead.

    time constraints now, sorry
