And the emperor's new clothes..
..Are just beautiful.
He may be making his horse a senator soon. It may be an improvement over the current incumbants.
-
I told you
"UK has left behind murder and chaos, says Basra police chief."
At least while they were there, it was a model of empire building.
The Brits still do it well. Americans? Feh.

No. Blessings to anti-war truth tellers. Reverence the truth! You are a gift to readers.
The song: "Do You Hear What I Hear?"
The GOPS are ludicrous and disposable.
Give them stinking mittens, scarfs, ans skunk perfume.
The best gifts are love. The pro-war are worst than beast born in barn-stalls.
You challenge us to live honestly.
The neocon is lying in a DC bloody sewer.
'um have rotten hearts and foul ruined livers.
What on Earth can we hope for? A peaceful partridge to speak from a ripe pear tree? Yes. And also compassionate humans to be caring to transform the greater world.
The weak little war-drummer boys in DC will descent into a
hell. Shame them continuously!
Love and truth is contagious.

This is very curious
I've been reading stories for awhile now (and just a big piece on NPR this morning) about Afghanistan being on the brink of "lost cause" if something doesn't turn around. Yet this weekend we get "official" word that cross boarder attacks are way down (of course what does that really mean?). The news from Iraq is completely schizoid. The Administration and generals on the ground paint a glowing picture of disappearing violence and people returning in droves to the Emerald City, er, Bagdhad. But everyday we read of another car bomb, the refugees returning because Syria is expelling them, more people are fleeing everyday than are returning, the returning ones don't know where to go where its safe, electricity?, yeah right.
Unfortunately people are gullible, and my fear is that they will give the adminstration the benefit of the doubt and fall for it.
and am I the only one who suspects american casualties are down because the troops are being held back? Kind of a grand coincidence how that has worked out heading into the campaign.

Thanks a heap Glenn.....
Now instead of being totally depressed over the likely outcome of a cloture vote. I can instead be heartened by the glorious victory thats breaking out all over on the streets of Basra and Fallujah. If I get any more good news like this, I might have to restart my meds......

Ye shall reap...
The current generation of boys, who don't remember Saddam, but will remember the American soldiers who broke their doors, humiliated their fathers / mothers / sisters (or worse), is growing up fast, and they're armed.
The idea that a war is over just because one side declares it so is naive at best.
What Bush wrought will poison us for decades to come.

apologies
I've nothing against beautiful barn animals. Domesticated beast bring to Light the far-reaching impact domesticated animals have had on the course of civilizations.
I'd rather vote for domesticated goats, sheep.
Tame livestock gave birth to careful cultivation and esteemed agriculture practices. Sustainable.
Good beast vastly reduced human toil and eking a harsh and weary survival existence.
I'd raise money for a faithful dog in these gops rancid times.
A good cared for livestock is to invest in a faithful friend.
Even a dog can be diligent and herd away horrible predators and guard the respectable human flock ---so to speak. Thanks for the Hope. Keep seeking for truthful leaders who guard and protect. Thanks again for these daily forewarnings. You contribute like a faithful friend! And they [friends] are more rare...And to be desired greater and more precious than fine gems and gold.

Paul Dirks:
Now instead of being totally depressed over the likely outcome of a cloture vote.
No worries. You can look forward to that over the next day or so. For now, let's celebrate the beautiful "moat" behind which we're allowing the Falljuah residents to live.

Alupin
For seven generations from what is recorded in their writ they consider sacred. WOE!

I just filled in a scheduling request at the Obama website
Here's what I wrote:
It appears that Senator Dodd is on the floor of the Senate fighting for the rule of law and against blanket immunity for the telecom companies that have apparently been participating in illegal spying on Americans.
Your schedule on the other hand still has you in Iowa.
It would appear that your desire to govern exceeds your willingness to do so. I must say I'm disappoined.

Who says who is winning?
Far be it for me to side with the Bushies, but it is worth noting that back in August, when the British announced their intention to leave Basra, the Bushies were saying:
"The British have basically been defeated in the south"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/06/AR2007080601401_pf.html
Kind of hard to declare you have "won" when your ally doesn't share that view, and neither do the soldiers who were actually doing the fighting:
“To anyone who thinks we have made [Basra] a better place, we haven’t.”

Moat?
Oh, ah!
The other "moat" in the politico's eye is recorded to be walkin' and talkin to us citizens while the moat in the eye is as huge as a telephone pole. P.S. I'll go saw some heating wood timber to cool off.
I'll check out the barn stalls too.

Paid shill files glowing reports from Fallujah for NRO and Weekly Standard
Let’s not forget the glowing reports of Michael Fumento in National Review and the Weekly Standard. He always writes just what the military and the neo-cons want to hear – that’s what he’s paid to do
In 2005:
“Today Fallujah is on the mend and then some, a symbol of renewal and American-Iraqi cooperation….
“We’re certainly not trying to turn this into the equivalent of an American city,” says Williams. “But it will be first class for an Iraqi one and that’s going to win the hearts and minds of the people.” From the smiles, the thumbs up, the waves, and the cries of “Hello!” in Arabic I got from the children in even the worst parts of the city, I’d say they’re being won.”
And in May of 2006:
“But what’s happening now in Fallujah illustrates what must be done if we are to ultimately defeat the insurgents and terrorists throughout all of Iraq.”
Fumento has been in a “payola scandal” in the past and was dropped from Scripps Howard News Service for doing so. But that doesn’t keep him from still being imbedded with our military and writing for National Review and the Weekly Standard.
