must have "something" on these Democratic leaders
The idea is appealing simply because their behavior is so jaw-droppingly appalling if viewed any other way, it seems the only explanation possible.
-
"They" have nothing "on" the enablers
They only thing "they" have is the power which these slugs want.
America is getting the nation we deserve.

Phone call to Reid's office at 8:47AM EST
Was put on hold, but finally spoke to an aide to Reid. I said that word is out on Daily Kos, Salon.com and other blogs that Reid plans to make sure that the final FISA bill contains telecom immunity. I asked him to relay word to Senator Reid that the netroots community has become increasingly disgusted with the failure of the Democrats to oppose the administration on issue after issue, and that, personally, if the FISA bill passes with telecom immunity, I will hold Senator Reid personally responsible. I then plan to make a sizeable contribution to Senator Reid's primary challenger in the next election.
I don't have any illusions that my call by itself will make a difference, but if Reid's office is flooded with similar calls and emails, who knows? It's worth a try.

Who is Ron Paul?
Glenn,
As a Christian conservative, I really appreciate reading your views--all of them. To those of the liberal persuasion, I dare you to just read what Ron Paul (R) has to say about our country. You might find a new home, away from the current group of tired candidates.

Reid's rationale
Has Reid offered any rationale for this decision?

Aycharaych.."I predict no none will respond to my post" okay?
I've read some of your past letters.
Why _~A Few Good men~_?
"We were Soldiers Once...and Young" by Lt. Gen. Harold Moore (Ret.) and Joseph L. Galloway is a anti-war read.
~
In November 1965, only 450 men of the 1st Battalion, 7th cavalry, under the command of Lt. Col. Hal Moore, were dropped into a small clearing in the la Drang Valley. They were immediately surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers. Three days later, only two and one half miles away, a sister battalion was chopped to pieces. Together, these two events constituted one of the most savage and significant battles of the Vietnam War. I was 'drafted' into the 1st/12 Air Mobile Cav...
The book is told by the commander of the battalion and the only journalist on the ground through the fighting... records this devastating story of those soldiers.
I think of them daily. Many were sacrificed for their comrades and never gave up. I'm not asking anyone to read it. This war may end much worst!
~
I'm ignorant about anthrax. I was not reading the blabersphere until I realized the Bush Rein GOPS were stealing Real-Estate locally, covering up White House Criminal Investigations in Pa., and the GOPS were also thugs in pursuit of real-estate Oil-Lands. The Brewpubs ( I mean PA. GOP thugs ) were doggonest doing such nasty 'stuff' like arresting people like me inside Fraud Lending Banks.
I'm dead darn Serious.
And I'm late to the fields.
I promised to participate outdoors today.

Traitors,Turncoats and Informers
The first order of business is to dispose of the traitors and turncoats and informers within the Democratic Party...once that is done, escorting the fascist, authoritarian Republicans to the gallows will take a straighter path. Sounds extreme? If you think for a moment that the Republican Party doesn't see itself in a war with Democrats, you're not paying attention. They take no prisoners, while the Democrats dither and sell out. The Democrats need to take care of their own, and then punch every Republican who shows his face as hard as they can, as often as they show up. Sounds like a street fight...it is.

Perhaps I am naive...
... but can't Harry Reid's leadership in the senate be challenged by his colleagues? Can't he be replaced as majority leader? That there appears no effort to do so implicates all the democrats in the senate in his disgraceful leadership.

My call to Reid's office:
Spoke briefly w/ a staffer who could "only take comments, NOT answer a question". When I mentioned my comment pertained to Sen. Reid ignoring Sen. Chris Dodd's hold...
The staffer hung up on me.

How?
How do people living in 'The World's Best Democracyâ„¢' make their 'representatives' heel to their wishes?
How? Overthrow the government? How do a people take back their country from the corporate brown nosers that control it?
By the sounds of this, there is little hope that the election next year will change anything for the better. Is it time for people that care about such quaint ideas as 'democracy' and 'justice' to leave America?
The stock market is being gamed. The justice department is being gamed for political benefit. How can this be fixed? Is it better to let it run its course? Can the world afford to allow that?
What to do...
And just in the nick of time, the steroid report surfaces. Ahh, distraction...

A different staffer, female this time:
At least litened to my comment. "I'll pass that on to the Senator".

@bamage
I may have spoken to the same staffer. I asked her first if what I was reading about Senator Reid's plans was true, and she responded that he has not yet announced his plan. I then encouraged him to honor Senator Dodd's hold and the letter from the 14 Senators, including all of the Democratic Senate candidates for President, to bring forward the Senate Judiciary Committee version without retroactive immunity. I then told her that many of us in the progressive community are very concerned about this issue and that if Senator Reid caves in on this one, he is likely to see very organized support for a primary challenger in 2010.
I also called Senator Whitehouse's office to thank him for his courageous words last week about Executive Orders and to ask him to reverse his position (he actually voted for retroactive immunity in the Senate Intelligence Committee) on retroactive immunity and to stand shoulder to shoulder with Senator Dodd in opposing immunity.
Strangely, there is still nothing posted on Dodd's campaign website regarding this issue, which appears to have been the one issue on which Dodd has gotten the most support.

@Fogcoast
If you think for a moment that the Republican Party doesn't see itself in a war with Democrats, you're not paying attention.
The rubes of the GOP rank and file do indeed see themselves as being "at war" with Democrats. But the actual inner party members? The leaders of the GOP? They are not "at war" with the Democrats. They are one big happy family. I'm afraid you are the one not paying attention. The partisanship between the dems and the GOP is a show. It is theater for their respective bases. They have been tangling over the same symbolic issues now for 40 years. And it is now at the point where they almost literally write a script each week on how they are going to pretend to be at each other's throats.
There is nothing different between them. Save for the each side having to tailor their rationales for their actions to match the ideological proclivities of their respective bases- they don't have a wit of difference between them. Ideology is for rubes- the dems and GOP are just about power and wealth and are fronts for Beltway oligarchy.
