  • Well....

If you folks really want to pressure Reid, why not focus on his shady land deals, and lobbyist sons? There is plenty of chicanery available for pressuring Reid, that has been studiously ignored so far. It will be interesting to see how far you people really push this.

I predict that as soon as the realization Reid could be pressured out of the leader spot is at hand, efforts will cease. Democrats cave every time.

  • It is all over

When the democrats are complicit with Bush, it is all over for the constitution.

Even the one event of Karl Rove and Josh Bolton refusing to testify is grounds for impeachment on the separation of powers doctrine.

    I will say it again,

When the democrats are complicit with Bush, it is all over for the constitution.

My technical background included the study of non linear dynamics. The popular version is in chaos theory with examples like the butterfly flapping its wings in the US and causing a hurricane in Brazil. We are in non linear dynamics territory with the assault on the constitution.

There has always been the faith the structure of government with separation of powers, staggered elections and so forth would be enough to keep the ship afloat. It looks like the ship of state has sunk.

  • An honest politician is one who, when he is bought, will stay bought.

    Harry Reid: An Honest Politician.

  • HR 1955, SR 1959

    Glenn,

I would appreciate a comment on this legislation on domestic terrorism. It passed the house in October with only 6 No votes.

I think it is now in the Senate.

Does it end the first ammendment as some has said?

Anyone who speaks out, or organizes against the government can be declared a domestic terrorist and then anything goes like Bush has done with other terrorists.

I have not seen an ongoing treatment of this important issue.

  • Why oh why?

Next question, why do the democrats elect such people to be their congressioal leaders?

  • OT -- Iowa Debate

    Glenn,

I'm curious to hear your take on the exclusion of Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich from the last Dem debate.

  • To listen to Reid's soft voice - I always wonder how does such a person live with that confounding shame?

As members of a group of elected "representatives" who are supposed to ward off tyrannical neocon "doctrine" in public institutions...and protect all citizen members...Well, it seems we people sure are Not being represented. We know that!

    What flop failures!

It's still vital to continue to send e-mails, phone-ring, and identify yourself as disgusted. Irate. As members of the Body Politic, moreover, as I try to understand 'it' we are useless if we do not persist to insist---that these office-holders up there on Capital Hill must care properly for the environment, show respect toward the law, and honor the 'founders' built in protections that help citizens to care!

Help maintain the "ground" that is common to us for a safe, rational livelihood for those we love that will inherit the GOP's mess-rubbish, so to speak. It is in trying social circumstances such as these days that we share opportunities to do Good Deeds...and demand politicians to identify, and serve the greater masses outside the beltway loop.

A world will be incrementally ruined. A global war on terrorism, and the global financial economic situation can't be sustained.

To quote 'ole Mr. Shakespeare again, "to the edge of doom"--and thus prove to self, 'itself', each-other, and fulfill each single individuals purpose to change self. That's to work to do something that is lasting. That noble service outlives a individual. It's necessary and good at times to enter humbly (virtues) into the public arena. We do need to come to terms, as a individual, that there is much-to-do...And to serve at 'our' best potential capacity offer some selfless contributions.

In these circumstances, in place and time, each citizen, by virtue of the mere birthright (we are here), needs to work harmoniously, and petion the weak-cowards to rejoin the better human race of human Beings.

The conflicts we endure should strenghten each individuals personal resolve to work to offset the terrible encroaching tyranicalness. The 'powers' that have "sold-out" need our persistent opposition voice to be heard. Reid's is too weak and 'soft' and mumble-jumble.

To speak is also a merging toward a better collective, old time better local community. Shame on the neocon betrayers...

At least we can still speak as the FISA eavesdrops on us citizens.

Petition again and again, until they listen and obey--and are responsive to innate integral truths. We gotta do something if we/me/you care. Remember posterity. Or, the next generation will ask, "How did this tyrannical reign happen?" O, just because....

  • democrats?

with the exception of a few most are closet republicans and for sure corporatist.and as far as following the costitution between the two party the number is even less

  • life in a police state

it's obvious, as I've mentioned before, that someone in the NSA has the goods on Reid and other politicos, either an embarrassing phone call recording or email, or other evidence 'gathered' electronically, and they've let him know that if he does not cave in, they will expose him...

welcome to life in a fascist corporate state...

  • Time for action

I have put up a request on Chris Dodd's campaign blog, asking them to re-activate the phone system they set up just before the committee votes that allowed them to dial and pay for phone calls we make to Senatorial offices. I'll keep an eye on their response and post a link if they follow through. In the meantime, I would suggest phone calls or posts on the blog at chrisdodd.com thanking Senator Dodd for interrupting his campaign efforts to fly back to Washington to honor his pledge of a filibuster. It appears that he really is going to do this. I hope he receives the attention he deserves for taking such a courageous stand in the middle of a campaign.

  • Both parties are empty shells

Both parties are empty shells- just vessals for Beltway apparatchiks and oligarchs to maintain power. Their respective "isms" are carefully stage managed acts at this point- meant to mimic partisanship and give the illusion that "Debate" takes place. Ideology is for the rubes of both parties to believe in- not for Beltway players.

Look at a recent proof of this provided by this very blog. Greenwald had to call up the Dems to get them to even protest the lying way in which Klein and Time presented them as being terrorist coddlers. They wouldn't have done anything if not for Greenwald! Why? Because they are just playing part. Waiting their turn. It is all a stage act!

I can assure you- that when Hillary gets in the White House (and she will be the next Presidor of the United State of DC) the rubes of both parties will switch positions on many issues without bating an eye and Dems will be defending expansion of police state powers and GOP dopes will be talking darkly about black helicopters and secret UN armies being readied for the invasion of the US from their Canadian bases.

    It is all Kabuki theater.
