Letters to the Editor

The Senate majority leader appears poised to ensure that the Bush administration gets everything it wants on telecom immunity and new FISA eavesdropping powers.
  • What do they have on him?

In an email alert from the ACLU, the writer mentioned a secret meeting yesterday between Reid, McConnell and Mukasey. One wonders what sort of goods they have on the Nevada senator.

In any case, this man should NOT be majority leader of the US Senate. He has caved to the Bush administration on every single issue that counts. He has betrayed the democratic base at every turn.

The moment the telecoms get their retroactive immunity for illegally spying on you and me, that will be the Democratic party's "Katrina moment." It is my guess that a large percentage of politically active democrats will simply be too disgusted to care anymore. If the Democratic leadership caves on this one, I for one will stop sending money to Democratic candidates. I won'e bother to make any more of those get-out-the-vote calls... that will be it. I can't let these cowards continue to break my heart.
