Well, well -- musta ruffled some feathers --
I simply pointed out the fact that our nation is full of Right Wing Bigots and Left Wing Bigots -- but hand it to a Leftwinger to get all jittery in his seat because he found himself to be dictionary-defined as a .... full-blown Bigot. (how could he sleep tonight with such a thought)
Being at a web connected PC at the library today, i quick grabbed a small paperback, for transcription ease-sake.
"Random House Dictiony? ... Please", he sniffed.
At home with my 'garage-sale' bought OED (2nd edition, 20 vols.), i will satisfy his hi-browed haughtiness with the following ....
BIGOTRY: "The condition of a bigot. Obstinate and unenlightened attachment to a particular creed, OPINION, system or party" (didn't mention which party)
He continued a half-moment later charging that I was "confusing populists with progressives" Fact iz -- don't really give a flame.
Mister Hitler, however, had NO scrupples in declaring that he was both a "progressive" (progressive) and a populist leader of the "volk".
A moment earlier, another reader insisted i was "Michael Savage" or "one of his fans" because of the parallels drawn with the American Left and the Brownshirts of old.
Fact iz -- never read a word he ever wroteded -- seemed like a fat noisy slob of a fellow to me (if he be the same fellow i sawed on the boobtube) --
Fact iz -- i've voted in every election possible, but never once for the republican bloke running.
So the charge simply shows the accuser as being a dim thinker, given to quickly compartamentalizing every "enemy" who ruffles his feathers & makes him feel bad about himself.
Such is what was alluded to when I suggested that both the Right & the Left across our sunny land are die-hard Bigots -- Both wings, .... B I G O T S ...
And if ye denies the charge ... then you're simply stOOpid Bigots, --- as defined by the OED.

Any chance your comment was really bad sarcasm?
I read some of your other comments, because it was hard to fathom. You do render a lot of presumptive conclusions, as if things that are seemingly obvious to you are simply "known." But that tendency aside, many of your comments were reasonably insightful and at times thoughtful.
The one thing I note is that, intelligent as some of them were, you don't seem to be too keen, again, on actually showing stuff and backing up the case. Which is possibly why the idea of using Podhoretz' rantings in comparison to the facts, to make the case about how ill motivated the current calls for war are, might not have even registered. But still, I don't fully buy it.
Did you not read, or was it, again, really really bad sarcasm?
Enquiring minds wanna know.

but then it was directed *at* you so i don't think you thought so highly of it. if you had a screen name you'd be more respected. RMP, is that chivalry? it's misplaced. (it might be a "good war" but you are on the wrong side)

that is all very kind, but...
This work is part of a campaign message that I received a couple three years ago, it is not my research. I will say that it is important to be periodically reminded about just how deep the wound that the Bush administration has inflicted upon this country and how important it is to bring this to the table in advance of coming elections.
People like shooter come here with nothing but contempt for our ideas and do their best to confound our discussions. I'm constantly amazed that with a list this long, the shooters of the world aren't parading in front of the White House in droves demanding that their president and his government clean up their acts. They come here instead, with no other intention but to cause us to stumble and divert our attention to their caustic tirades.
In the end they have nothing and serve no other capacity except to do everything they can to destroy our message. In their pathetic little mindset, its more important to destroy the opposition than to care about the country.
