@ patg
David Sugarman's problem (outside of his paranoid tendencies and private obsessions) is that the thread ends up being all about him (much to his amusement or satisfaction). Deny him that privilege; ignore him studiously and meticulously. What little "light" he might bring in innocuous posts is ecliped by what far better commentators bring here, and he can make even a simple response to his missives snowball into a complete bollix of the thread. He's been warned by Glenn, and he still can't behave himself.
Thanks,
-
@sugarman
You are your own worst enemy. You get yourself banned. You can only blame yourself and the posts you just made without being deleted show everyone what the problem is. You.

ah back to hitler
iran is not 1933 germany, and all our attempts to link the two are no more valid than the saddam/wmd/9/11 links. it ain't going to happen. there will be no world wide caliphate until the sunnis and shia come to terms. this is a split that is 1200 years old.
we used to buy pistachios from iraq, then iran...from where do we get them now?

Chamberlain
The funny thing is there are a number of us who question whether even Chamberlain was the cowardly appeaser that he's been made out to be.

@david sugarman
i AM afraid of shari'a
You are? That's just plain stupid. Shari'a is probably the LEAST likely form of totalitarian society that could take over the USA. Certainly Soviet-style socialism or Italian-style fascism are more likely.
-
"...all 1280 of my posts?"
Nope. That would be a waste of time. Don't have to go back nearly that far to find your personal smears that have nothing substantive to offer, but only to titillate. And to offend.

Sugarman: David is a garden variety jewish bigot obessed with the notion that being Jewish
makes him significant. David will always play the "holocaust card" when the issue is not about him and jewish concerns.
David's contempt for Black folks is real odd given we are not antisemetic nor racist as WASPS but he really gets nasty when Black folks have an opinion.
With regard to the issue at hand Iran does not scare me my country does..

Horrifying
Podhoretz' Ignorance is almost as horrifying as Iran.
The best case against war with Iran can be made by turning Podhoretz arguments into the story and by SHOWING how incredibly ignorant they are.
Many Americans are not aware of the current and past history, so it is not beneficial to simply take this for granted. The case should be made over and over, that THIS is the type of thinking that argues for war with Iran. It is not the arguments for war with Iran that are the problem (although they are very flawed), it is that THIS is the type of thinking that is leading to it. This should become a story that every American is aware of: What Iran is today, in comparison to the rest of the world. What Germany was in the 30's. And the incredible intolerance, in fact contempt, for anyone who actually looks at the facts in an objective way.
It should also always be pointed out that while comparisons between Hitler and our own Chief Executive are unfair, they both, ironically, did repeatedly trumpet the claim of defense of the realm as justification for ignoring the rule of law.

arne
that is why i apologized for sending the thread in that direction. but still, who is to say who is annoying. and while i know gg has reprimanded him, so has he be-bop. we don't want to lose his poetic voice do we? just because he got on a roll...

Retired Military Patriot: is also as insane as Sugerman..the good ole g.i.joe

@thrasher

I think there's an old Chinese proverb...
"When you speak of Tsao-Tsao, Tsao-Tsao arrives."
So you can thank whoever it was this morning. The guy who didn't appreciate my NPod comment.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. What are you trying to say here, that Iranian policy is the same as neocon policy and that that justifies neocon policy?
I guess you want to go to war with Iran with someone else in charge, maybe. Attacking Iran is incredibly foolish for so many reasons, your fear is not justification enough. Fear is not a great justification for anything. At best, it's a heuristic that avoids certain negative outcomes by grossly distorting priorities.
And the incredible intolerance, in fact contempt, for anyone who actually looks at the facts in an objective way.
I'm sorry, "objective" does not mean "what I think". Comparisons of Iran and '30s Germany are just plain asinine and

@ Jim Montague
Thanks for the C.V. of the current occupant of the White House on page 13 of the comments. I'll fact check that son and use it to shorten conversations with republican colleagues.
Now, back to lurking...

@Thrasher
If being honest about myself and my views makes me insane, then by your definition, I am clearly insane.

To be historically accurate
You'd have to acknowledge that the Persians were doing empire before the Greeks, Romans, Moors, Spanish, British, French, Germans, Japanese or American neocons. They did it rather well until they met the Greeks.

@ bamage
Circumspect folks, those Chinese sages, but right more often than they were wrong. Damned good cooks, too. They work at insanely high temperatures, yet never burn anything. It takes a certain deftness, which children can't seem to master, cute though they may be.
I do sometimes find myself looking expectantly around, when it gets near certain commenters' naptimes, for a rush of mommies into UT, bent on sweeping up their hysterical offspring and carrying them off to dreamland.
Alas, the world is no longer that sane, is it?

Damn, those Persian guys must be pretty old. How do they do that?
They did it rather well until they met the Greeks.
Ohhh, wait a minute, that's what this is about! You've seen 300, haven't you? How cute.
