    Or, to put it another way, "Why do they hate us?"

    You said, "So the latest right wing propaganda has Americans not forgetting that Iran took Americans hostage in 1979, and are still so awesomely pissed 28 years later that they want America to unilaterally invade/bomb yet another sovereign state."

    I'm all for historical references if they're put in context, but no one mentions that the CIA overthrew the legitimate, democratically-elected Iranian leader, Premier Mosaddeq, in 1953. And then of course, we materially supported Saddam Hussein in the Iran/Iraq war that cost Iran approximately 500,000 lives.

    But of course, they kidnapped a group of Americans and held them hostage, so we must get revenge almost 30 years later by launching a massive aerial bombardment, sure to kill thousands of civilians. I guess we can call it even then, and start the process of winning hearts and minds.
