The ADL purports to respond again

Abraham Foxman sends a letter which, once again, raises more questions than it answers.

The letters thread is now closed.

IaintBacchus

I'm 100% sure I'm going to be branded an "anti-semite" for saying this. I don't care. Anti-semitism is nothing but a whip used by groups like the ADL to flog anyone who isn't acting in the best interests of Isreal.

No, it's not. Believe it or not, there is actual anti-Semitism out there and much of it is truly reprehensible and disturbing. The fact that SOME people choose to dishonestly and shamefully exploit the existance of actual anti-Semitism for their own political ends only exposes their own dishonesty and shamelessness, not the alleged non-existance of anti-Semitism.

I am not an Isreali. I am not a Jew. I am an American. I spent 12 years in the Marine Corps defending America.

Is this supposed to imply that one cannot be a Jew and an American--or even an Israeli and an American (as I happen to be, btw, by birth and then naturalization 30 years ago)?

How convenient of you to deny the existance of anti-Semitism. Read into that what you will.

I say this in all sincerity: The ADL is just one more right wing reactionary group that is in the buisness of putting the interests of it's co-religionists ahead of the interests of it's country.

Uhuh. How sincere of you. There are millions of Jews in the world and not all of them are Israeli. There are millions of Israelis and not all of them are Jews. And there are millions of Israeli Jews and not all of them support the policies that the ADL supports. Or didn't you know any of that?

I have no doubt that Mr. Foxman carries dual Isreali-American citizenship, so I cannot call him a traitor to his country because he is acting in the best interests of at least one of them. But he and every other Israeli-fauxAmerican traitor to the US should be required to choose which of his/her two countries he IS loyal to and stop pretending to support the other. YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS.

So I guess that that makes me a traitor. Thanks, appreciated. And I always thought that being a traitor required one to actually BETRAY your country, as opposed to merely saying things that some people disagreed with. Much as I disagree with and loath what Foxman stands for, I find it hard to see how he is a "traitor" for it.

And I don't "SERVE TWO MASTERS". I am an American citizen and thus serve no "master". Loyalty does not require servility. Nor does it preclude lobbying on behalf of another country, however shamefully and dishonestly. Foxman has every right to do this, and it doesn't make him a "traitor". Nor does my being an Israeli citizen (which really means little more than having an Israel passport so long as I live in the US). US law fully recognizes the legitimacy of dual citizenship, with many other countries besides Israel, since it does not mean dual loyalty. Schwartzenegger is still an Austrian citizen--is he a "traitor"?

Didn't they teach you how to think in the Marines?

But thanks for demonstrating that dishonesty, stupidity and bigotry are not exclusively the domain of far-right reactionaries. Plenty of that on the "left".

"this is my first time"

The quotes you criticize as a first time troll were rhetoric to make points. They were not meant to be taken literally. I take very literally the death and suffering that the side you seem to be supporting is causing every day.

Of what benefit is such trolling? Of what benefit are unnecessary wars except for plunder of resources and carrying out hate and vengance?

finally, some straight talk

I'm glad you're finally coming out and accurately describing (albeit through other's comments) the cozy relationship between the ADL, FNC, and the Right Wing Noise Machine. The past couple of posts you were relying on innuendo and shaded suggestion. Now you're just coming out and saying it.

Bully.

Let's not forget AIPAC, of course. And the neocons. They are all pushing the same agenda. Which is not necessarily an America-first agenda.

Israel is a good strategic ally for this country. But not the only ally.

@_zack_ I predict silence

it would be extremely easy for them to end this controversy by simply coming out and condemning O’Reilly for his repeated Nazi/Hitler attacks.

But it's getting harder every day. Foxman has backed himself into a corner. If he condemns now he appears to have done so in response to Glenn's persistence, thus providing "proof" that his condemnations are subject to "political" pressure.

Monday, October 8, 2007 05:07 PM

So what's on the plate for tomorrow, Glenn?

Columbus was a secret Jew bent on the extermination of the indigenous population as part of their world plan? I mean you missed a golden opportunity today by skipping over the anniversary of Kissinger's peace accord to end the Yom Kippur war (this day in defeated goals of exterminationist history).
