WinSmith tells the big lie
If you actively identified with being Jewish, I do think that would enter into your discussion of anti-Semitism.
Glenn wasn't discussing anti-Semitism, he was discussing the hypocrisy of the ADL. The only person discussing anti-Semitism is WinSmith.
But every time Glenn or anyone else dismisses that yes, anti-Semitism also comes from our side of the aisle (as it will from any side of any aisle), you are doing exactly what you claim "no one here" is doing.
The reason we keep saying that "no one here" is doing it is because, in fact, no one here is actually doing that. If you have evidence to the contrary consider presenting it.
Can you please name the posters who have denied that anti-Semitism exists or that it exists on the left?

Glen Greenwald, You Complete Me! :D
This is just to say that your brutal honesty gives more people hope than you know. I know some have criticized you recently for expressing despair at the ability of our battered democratic system to cope with the current "Global War" (or emergency as Orwell would have had it.)
But by publishing these honest assessments, you provide succor to many of us who crave the sound of the simple truth and context for the lunacy that passes now for governance and reportage.
By admitting the reality of the situation, you help provide affirmation that we are not as isolated, alone and powerless as many of us feel as we witness one outrage against America, her institutions and her Consitution after another.
But when the dark cloud of Nazi fascism* threatened Europe's freedoms, it was Churchill himself who said : "The hour is always darkest before the dawn."
From your column today, one thing is patently clear: Our feckless Dems may be a sad and pathetic crew, but the Republican Party is in compete and utter disarray! :D
* please see ADL-approved policy on such highly-charged terms in political useage by Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, etc.

Paul
So in addition to tacitly admitting that you freely use bad logic, and don't know the difference between structuralism, post-structuralism and the Frankfurt School, you're going to try to defend yourself using the work product of anti-Semites like Heidegger, De Mann and their disciples and fellow travellers?
It just gets better and better!
Indeed it does, Paul. And yes, I will match you smarty pants. Yes I'm a Ph.D. and no, you're not as smart as you think you are. I used structuralism to point out your outdated "logical fallacy" 19th century grade school level taunts, and you neither got the joke but actually went so far as to point out they were different. Duh. Thus, the joke.
I don't use "bad logic," any more than Bohr's atom still describes how electrons function. It is antiquated thought. 7th grade level reductionism, and so I mocked you using structuralism. Which you then pointed out wasn't the same.
Nice to get it, Laocoon.
Wagner was an anti-Semite, but he made great music. If Greenwald can agree with David Duke, I'll partake of a little Heidegger now and then.

Short Cuts
Pedinska:
I am so far behind in the thread!
Pssht! Today was a piece of cake. Just skip past any of the redundant posts signed "WinSmith" and you'll be caught up in a trice. If you read the first one you read them all.
Then you'll have time to read the additional excellent example by apparent feminazi Jane Hamsher, recommended by AnnieW a few pages ago:

The reason we keep saying that "no one here" is doing it is because, in fact, no one here is actually doing that.
And Joe Lieberman's condemnation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard doesn'y explicitly state that Bush has the right to bomb Iran.
Give me a break, people.
We suss out right wing unstated meaning every day.
Don't turn around and play the "where did I state this" Dick Cheney level nonsense?
Many people in this thread today alone made allegations that Israel is behind our invasion of Iraq, our attempt to bomb Iran, and that some American born Jews are secretly working behind the scenes against American interests as a form of duplicitous cabal.
It doesn't get more anti-Jewish conspiracy bullshit than that.
But oh right, nobody "said it."
And Bush never said Iraq attacked us on 9/11.
Please. The hypocrisy is choke worthy.
-
Oh rlly?
"Many people in this thread today alone made allegations that Israel is behind our invasion of Iraq"
Name them.
Or stop blathering.
-
Thankfully I can skip to the end of the thread without missing ANYTHING worthwhile.
I will simply note something I observed about General Petreaus and the military in general. When you hold a group to be so sancrosanct that they are above criticism, then you invite and encourage abuse by that group. No one should be held above anybody else and therefore immune from criticism. That someone has such a bug up their ass, that there going to devote page after page arguing the opposite, well they are pretty much beyond hope and CERTAINLY beyond reason.

Beth isn't the rest of us
bethincary proves everything I'm arguing. Here's the Jewish Zionist conspiracy on the left in its most overt terms:
Bethincary is one person on this blog. Where do you get off conflating her opinions to the rest of us? That is just insulting.
America is about to bomb Iran because of a republican movement that couldn't give a crap about Israel.
There is no one monolith that is promoting these wars. It is both the Republicans you mention above and also AIPAC, else why would they lobby Congress to do their bidding as has been noted in previous posts? There are many cohorts involved in this disastrous policy, including the religious rightwing armageddon crazies. Recognition and comdemnation of ALL of them is legitimate.
Claimig they're puppets of Israel is everything that makes up the grand Zionist conspiracy bullshit and led to so much tragedy over the past thousand years.
No one is claiming that (except maybe Beth - and I've already tried to clue you in to how we all jumped on that one earlier in the week). But saying that they are aiding and abetting and that they have convergent goals, if for very different reasons, has been labelled as rank anti-semitism by you. It's not. At least not from (most of) this group.
