Anti-Semitism Exists
His critique does not in any way deny that anti-semitism exists. Nor do the commenters here deny that.
Sure they do.
Everytime someone argues that there couldn't possibly be anti-Semitic criticism of Joe Lieberman, they're rejecting that anti-Semitism exists.
It couldn't be more explicit.
Some criticism of Joe Lieberman comes purely from a place that he's the Jew working to destroy America on behalf of Israel. You see vehemence directed at Lieberman far beyond the anger directed at the numerous Christian wingnuts saying and advocating the exact same position.
Some of this is due to Lieberman's disingenuous maintaining of his status as "democrat" which is why he makes my blood boil.
But some of it IS driven by a pure psychological reaction to Lieberman's Jewishness. He must be "Othered." He must be anti-American and pro-Israel because he's not really American to begin with.
Same goes for Israel.
Yet every time a liberal points out that yes, a small but vocal subsection IS engaging in Anti-Semitism, they're dismissed (just look at the reactions to my posts).
So when you say to me that commenters here don't deny that anti-Semitism exists, they DO do exactly that every time they deny that there's any legitimacy to the possibility that some attack Lieberman as a traitor to this country simply because he's Jewish.
Secondly, anti-Semitism from the republicans is rampant and far worse than anything on our side. The shit thrown at George Soros is the ugliest anti-Jewish smears I've ever heard.
O'Reilly's blatantly anti-Semitic "war on Christmas" ended with him slamming the Jewish John Stewart for not celebrating Christmas.
But every time Glenn or anyone else dismisses that yes, anti-Semitism also comes from our side of the aisle (as it will from any side of any aisle), you are doing exactly what you claim "no one here" is doing.
You are dismissing even the possibility that legitimate anti-Semitism exists in both criticisms of Lieberman, Israel or the proverbial "hidden Jewish influence" in, and you can pick your trope:
1. The Banking Systems
2. The Government
3. Hollywood/Media

Oh, by simply pointing out that the ADL has refused to condemn the right wing bloviators, GG is an anti-semite. I'm dense, I don't get it.
Yes, you don't it. I explicitly said Greenwald wasn't anti-Semitic, but was accidentally slipping into a well tread narrative that is very seductive and appealing.
Who doesn't love the story of the grand bogeymen hidden in our culture working to destroy us from within?
It's titilating, it's scary, and it's very intoxicating to feel like you've "discovered" the hidden conspiracy and you have access to the truth. Like finding Superman's secret identity.
But Glenn's response to my posting of David Duke is just nonsensical. This isn't about Hitler arguing the "earth is round," this is about a noted racist and anti-Semite making the very same age old narrative accusation that Glenn is. It's not agreeing with a crazy person on an innocuous fact. It's about agreeing with a racist on the central narrative that drives his racism.
And it doesn't even give him pause.
Seriously, how is that possible? If I was agreeing with David Duke on any issue involving Jews or black people or Mexicans, I think I'd take a week off just to reevaluate my life.
There's a reason David Duke loves the hidden Israeli power in Congress story so much. It feeds everything he represents.
And if that post doesn't give some of you pause to rethink what you're advocating, I'm not sure what will.

Oil
We went to war, primarily to protect Israel. There were many subordinate reasons, some of them sort of worthwhile [ huh?!?], but the main reason was the influence of AEI and AIPAC.
We went to war primarily for oil and money. The US protects Israel for US oil interests. American and Israeli Likudniks and Fundie Christians are useful idiots in service of the Oil & Money agenda.

The Israelis are Anti-Semites
Most Israelis are more moderate than Joe Lieberman(and Abe Foxman) on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, land for peace, Israeli settlements future or settler violence against Arab civilians. Lieberman sides with the most extreme right wing elements on the Israeli political scene. Lieberman is not universally respected in Israel and is considered by most Israeli mainstream political analysts to be too extreme in his views and too much in bed with the neocons vis-a-vis the Israeli-Arab conflict and an attack on Iran. According to the weird "thought" process of some of the dunces posting here, over half of Jewish citizens of Israel are anti-Semitic.
