so i'll tell you the joke instead. from woody allen. "the lion may lie down with the lamb, but the lamb won't get much sleep". do you have to be jewish to find that funny?
Medications of course enter into the equation. It's part of why I keep repeating this:
"Just try to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go."
But I haven't noticed any reduction in meds administered to school kids, have you? Yet the number of school hostage and shooting incidents has declined dramatically -- though the phenomenon is still with us.
What did happen, as far as I could tell, was that administrations and teachers stopped linking their authority to the bullies in the schools, and in fact, in many cases intervened proactively to stop or at least reduce bullying on campuses. This had a powerful effect on the internal social order of public schools, a social order that got badly skewed, and extraordinarily dangerous for everyone, when administrators and faculties saw fit to align themselves with bullies to enforce "order." It was chaos.
Prior to the 1990s I cannot recall school administrators and faculties actually aligning themselves with bullies to control the public schools to any great extent (there were some exceptions, especially where schools were being run like prisons in the inner cities). The situation in private schools and boarding schools was somewhat different. In public schools, no more than a very modest amount of authority was ever granted to students in general, and never the authority to enforce discipline. But that changed, and when it did...
Now those changes seem to have reversed, and -- despite the continued over administration of psychotropic drugs -- killings and hostage situations have declined.
"Assholes" is a perfectly good way to refer to the bullies and their toadies who are ruling this country. "Psychopaths?" In some cases, sure, I have no doubt. A stop should have been put to them long ago, and it wasn't. Now we face a situation in which all elements and branches of our government have become "sychronized" with the bullying autocratic executive, with occasional flashes of independence from the judiciary -- which are quicky extinguished or ignored.
The People say "Stop this madness now!" The autocracy and its enablers in Congress say, in essence, "Fuck you, go away; shut up."
To me it is a very volatile and dangerous situation. We cannot have a representative assembly that tells The People to fuck off, but that's what Our Dems in Congress are doing, more and more boldly and in seemingly greater numbers. They are divorcing themselves from their responsibilities to The People and aligning themselves ever more closely with an out of control and lawless autocracy. They are becoming quite brazen about it.
If at any point The People come to see the situation as hopeless, I hate to think what sort of consequences will ensue.
But we've tried "everything" to get the Congress at least to see and listen to reason, and nothing has worked. They get worse as time goes by, not better.
It's not hopeless yet, but it sure is past time for an intervention.
And the Congress sings:
"Just try to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go."
displays all the bitterness and resentment of a man who has been passed over for promotion as the pole gets more and more slippery nearing the top.
The fact that he comes across like a borderline psychopath was probably a factor too.
I guess he's just trying to say that to get a star or four you sometimes have to play politics, and that's just like, you know, betrayal. Thank God General Petraeus was able to avoid this pitfall!
You may well be right about MoveOn. There is surprisingly little on their website. I'm on their mailing list. If anything notable happens, I'll communicate.
Theoretically, it might work...
... I remember a seersucker dress (damn G.O.) and untying it, awkwardly. The beautiful breast can fit perfectly to fit, comfortably, within a small hand. Was a palm designed solely for the purpose of that, a hand holding something soft?
I've felt the human heart beat too. A pulse against my heart. Why would a person want to not love Everybody? How can a human desire to hurt another human? I an confused over that. Why would a person kill, or want to speak in a put-down manner that May damage another human beyond repair? This is too long.
No, it's not too long.
You have a gift my friend, a rare and beautiful gift.
Thanks for sharing, and for a few moments lifting the dark cloud over my own heart ...
unless mawkish sentimentality is always too long.
It hasn't been surprising for a very long time now, (I can't even recall how long it's been), since our Government has acted according to our Laws and Constitution, and I find it to have become almost accepted, that we as American Citizens and Taxpayers, no longer even show up on the radar of these, our "Leaders", supposedly elected to work in OUR best interests. I'm am completely, 100%, convinced, that we must remove ALL of these "Representatives", who have ignored our wishes while sitting in opulent splendor in Washington.
The Mitch McConnels of the world should be flushed as soon as is humanly possible, and replaced by someone else, preferably someone who WILL remember who they work for.
I really like Ron Paul, and will work tirelessly to see he is the next President of the United States, but in the present climate of Washington, I'm surprised the Neocons haven't had Blackwater wack him.
As far as Generals being criticized in the media or by Political Organizations, what have the Neocons got to bitch about?? After all, it was THEY who first used attacks on Combat Veterans Kerry, Murtha, Cleland, and others. The McConnel farce last week should have been roundly laughed out of existence, instead of the cowardly quiet acceptance the Dems showed instead. I hope that at least they will now demand Republicans condemn Faux and Limpdick, as they have moveon.
What's good for the wimps, should also apply to the Fascists.
I wouldn't hold my breath though.
