Fox News' attack on the honor and integrity of our war generals

Fox accuses the generals of "betraying" their own soldiers and putting their reputations and careers ahead of the lives of U.S. soldiers.

The letters thread is now closed.

@ susan sunflower

I've also speculated that MoveOn may have benefitted by the dustup. In the earler question to WT I did have MoveOn in mind. We think of alternative parties as Green, Libertarian, etc., but I'm wondering if MoveOn might be best considered a nascent political party, rather than a PAC.

They exhibit party-like behavior. They debate planks and platform on a 24/7 basis. A constant, year-round political convention, it appears. They pay for political advertising, including contributions to candidates.

I've joined moveon just recently, with the intent of treating it as if it was a political party. I'm speculating that one may be able to have a better public/political life through it than one could have through a party.

On Teh Bullies - school shootings.

School shootings are the result of kids freaking out from antidepressant medications coupled with the psychological abuse endemic in the school systems. I had three is go through the public school system and i saw that the administrators and the teachers regarded school as little more than a prison system.

We had bullies when I was in school but no one got shot because no one was medicated to the point of being drugged out zombies.

Kliebold (Columbine High School Shooter) was rejected when he tried to fulfill his dream of being a Marine because the service did not take people who were on psych drugs - with good reason. A couple of days later he made the headlines.

"Bullies" is an inappropriate term, sociopaths, psychopaths and those with borderline personality disorder are the proper terms used today. If you look up the descriptions of those disorders you will see an accurate description of the administration, the republicans, fox news, most other news organizations and most democrats.

"Assholes" is the proper epithet.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I oppose war and stupidity that results in people being preyed upon and ripped off by t he psychopathic monsters who run the country and the media.

I remember what it was like before Reagan and Bush set us on a course back to the past. I view both parties as hopelessly corrupted.

When the people who run the war game and the drug game own the news and entertainment media, democracy doesn't work. The will of the people is subverted and worse than that, the will of the people is peverted. They hate people who they do not know and who have done nothing to earn that hate and this is done to protect those who are ripping the entire country off.

Left and Right, just as Democrat and Republican, are just words that have little meaning anymore. They are just labels issued to confues and distract.

Like Clinton is a "Liberal"! Nixon was a Liberal. The idea that democrats are liberal is nonsense.

Is that baiting the left?

On September 15 I was with real Americans and real people protesting the war. I didn't see left or right, I saw only good people.

I just don't understand

The right wingers were upset that MoveOn got a discounted ad rate, so they proceeded to give them a million dollars worth of publicity by placing the debate into the public domain.

Now that the senate & house, and the executive branch have condemned the ad. MoveOn's next move seems obvious:

Since MoveOn has been condemned by both houses of congress and the executive branch. The condemnation carries the weight of law. Their only means of relief is from the judicial branch. MoveOn should seek redress in federal district court. I would expect this would go nowhere, but could quickly move through the appeals process to the supreme court. Who knows if they pick a friendly venue, they may find a district judge who would rule in their favor. If nothing else, they can get another million dollars worth of publicity from their ad. Keeping the politicization of the military in the news for another few months.

@ casual_observer

In response to your question upthread, I supported the domestic bills passed in the Nancy Pelosi's hundred hours. What became of them in the Senate is evidence enough of what can happen when you have strong ideological opposition and a shaky majority.

As for MoveOn's potential for becoming a political party, I think it unlikely for two reasons. 1) Look at who in MoveOn chooses the issues it will take on, and 2) look at what issues they avoid, and why. The minute MoveOn becomes a party, it will have to deal with the same divisions which currently divide the Democratic Party. These divisions aren't an accident, they are present to same degree in the American people.

i guess that "P.S. i see you're still here, bop"

drove him right through the front door. oh well, he'll be back - as soon as he kicks a few tomatoes. when he does, he'll be happy to see my absence. (garry, this is supposed to be Therapy but there such a thing as too much therapy - or me)

Fox News and Greenwald

Hey anti Amnerican American residents ja'er think that David Hunt might be onto something?

Now if you think as does Moveon.org that General David Patraeus is treasonous I'm certain that the likes of Barney Frank, Teddie, the swinner,Kennedy, mo town Levin, and B Hussein Obama could easily cause the man a lot of trouble. So if thse bozos can read notifly them to get after the general. Betcha don't,won't, can't!

Correction

That should have been divisions which currently plague the Democratic Party.

I just give my post a long blank stare until something jumps out at me that looks weird. Doesn't always work. Eventually I hit 'publish' because I need to go to the bathroom or get a sandwich.

Faux "News"

It's not the honor or integrity of the generals I'm worried about, it's the honor and integrity of the commander in chief! If the generals were left to take care of their troops and managing the war everything would be for the better but when you have political flacks telling the generals to jump and insisting that the generals ask how high then something is definitely wrong.
