(first, feel awful that you lost both your parents, it's hard to recover from that - i know i was at sea for years). both Mac and Lyndon knew it was wrong nearly from the beginning. they both couldn't admit it. no mea culpa can forgive that. i will admit that i was wrong. i supported the war at first, but i called it Operation Smack Iraq and wanted to call in the UN as soon as we won. if we had done so (maybe) the moslems would have been terrified of us for years (after all, we had just "beaten"(well, the northern alliance - but we supplied air power) the mujahadin in afghanistan which had beaten the russians). but the war diverged from my scenario - as it often does when you rush in off-cocked (not even half-cocked). BUT, i'm not in a position of power. i think that those who really want power are the least suitable in having it - and what do you do then?

  • How about, "REAL MEN"?...

    Subtitle:

    "THE REAL REPUBLICAN WARRIOR CLASS"

As a first commenter, let me thank you, Glenn, for all you do.

So behind your rationale, the first war Bush lost was on September 11, 201 correct?

Come to think of it, you shouldn't spend your energy fighting Americans, even if they are Democrats. When do you go back to Iraq to do some more fighting against the terrorists that hate our freedom?

Maybe it's not a good idea to be projecting our power all over the globe if we're going to end up losing all these wars all the time.

You misunderstand. The purpose of these wars is not to 'win' them, and certainly not to 'win them for Democracy', and not necessarily even to plunder the victim or to enable additional plundering of adjacent victims.

It's war profiteering. All the insiders from Halliburton and the Carlyle Group know this to be true. It's what they do.

Defense contractors don't have a lot of lobbyists. They just put their own guys in the government, so a lot of lobbyists aren't needed. It's a great cost-saving strategy to have the government pay the salaries of your employees.

    My book title:

    Gay Old Party

How the GOP uses Gay Icons and Homoerotic Imagery to Win!

I think the whole cult of masculinity has been driven to an extreme. The fastest growing sport in this country right now is that kick-boxing in the octagon. It is the most homoerotic thing I have ever seen, except for gay porn. They even use the terms "top" and "bottom" to denote the position of the players.

So what did the Great Saint Reagan do when a couple hundred marines died in Lebanon? Why he turned and left.

What did St. Reagan do to the Iranian regime which had just illegally held American citizens hostage? Why he sold them weapons!

The bombers of the WTC were caught, tried and convicted by the Clinton Administration. Please list all the people caught and convicted of anything relating to 9-11 by Bush.

Your claim that "two of them were Iraqi" demonstrates a curious lack of comprehension of the laws of war. That constitutes causus beli to you? What kind of warmongering lunacy is this? Perhaps sitting high and dry in your F-18 war doesn't seem that bad to you, though I would hope a pilot wouldn't live up to the ground soldier view of them.

Finally, as to the Cole, this is the single most non-sensical line that Bush worshippers use to attack Clinton. The cole was attacked in November 2000. So in the two months of lame duck presidency he had left, you think Clinton should have started a war? (the small problem of "with whom?" I will leave as an exercise to the reader). Well Bush Sr. did that to him, and Somalia was the result, which I'm sure you lay the blame on Clinton for everything that went wrong there too. Anyway, the big question is: If Clinton is a weak president for not responding to the cole in the two months he had left, what does that say about Bush for not responding to it in 8 months prior to 9-11? I'd say it makes him at least 4 times as weak.
