The Democrats' responsibility in the wake of Gonzales' resignation

Senate Democrats must commit themselves to blocking any and all nominees until Bush nominates someone whose independence and integrity are beyond reproach.

Ché Pasa

i never claimed that anyone was "denouncing or mocking Glenn for what he does"... and when has glenn "mocked and denounced people who advocate direct action?" did i miss that?

glenn has said he thinks it is ineffective. personally, i wish he would encourage action he thinks would be effective instead of discouraging people from action that might suit them best... i think that kind of discouragement pushes people who are feeling temporary despair into a more permanent position of defeatism - one that he rightly condemns.

but, we've had this conversation before... no point in me repeating myself. here's last year's discussion:

Sad

Its pretty sad that all the Democrats have to do is -

a) Act in their political self-interest and stand-up to the Bush administration and prove to the country why 2006 mattered.

b) Act in their political self-interest and confirm an independent Attorney General who will stop the politicization of the DoJ as well as covering up lawbreaking by the Executive Branch.

c) Act in their ideological self-interests and refuse to confirm someone stands for the numerous radical positions that AG did.

d) Vote their conscience and refuse to confirm someone they think will further hollow out the Constitution and what American values used to stand for.

- and yet its not a given that they will muster the courage or even the self-respect to do what is right.

The usual suspects....

[Glenn, from the post]:

That is not going to happen if the Democrats allow the confirmation of one of the ostensibly less corrupt and "establishment-respected" members of the Bush circle -- Michael Chertoff or Fred Fielding or Paul Clement or some Bush appointee along those lines.

Chertoff: Whitewater panty-sniffing raid counsel.

Fielding: Nixon's hatchet-man.

Clement: Dubya's enabler in front of the Supreme Court for the dismantling of the Constitution.

"Establishment-respected"?!?!? By the coctail-weenie-eating Beltway insiders, perhaps. I vote "none of the above".

Cheers,

A P.S.

[more Glenn from the post]: ... the only acceptable replacement for Alberto Gonzales is someone who is truly independent of the Bush machine and whom Democrats are supremely confident will act independently...

... like Janet Reno, who was nonetheless vilified by the Republicans.

Cheers,

John Milton is on my mind. And friendly neighbors too.

John Milton, I realize, can't be nominated to replace Gonzalez.

In memory of (1650) John Milton...

He believed in Freedom of the Press. I say it be wise to NOT select names for consideration who have cuddled up to Bush, Rove, Chertoff, or the Congress people who have used a broom to sweep or cover under a rug the serious nations crimes up. That would not go over well with Barney the W.H. pup-Smooch?

I like people like deceased John Milton and he used the Free Press to publish polemical pamphlets. He dis serious attacks at the tyranny in "The Tenure of kings and the Puritan revolution."

He was always advancing the positive, but, insisted to NO be Forlorn and allow any disgusting 'king' or some dispicable politician to continue hediousness- of criminal acts.

Some of the cohorts mentioned will likely only continue their vested-loyal dispicable reign of ruthless power. All cowards do roll over and play the dead-dog Rove'er's. 'um Possums. Skunks. Snakes. Weasels...(?)

Be irreverant toward these diobolical politico creeps. Where is some healthy self-respect!? If not for the wretched neocon-Self..allowed to emerge with the MSM's catering to...The bloody war-mess and decrepid economy would not be crumbling so fast and irreparably? Ya'd think they could muster some thoughful care for posterity. Care=courage. They are presently empty husk.

Before Gonzales was known to me by name...(I use to try to ignore politicians and to opt-out of fraud-DC was easy for me), well, one day in my truck, I heard the most shameful voice via radio from the now AG. He was guest at a Law-Hoopla convention in DC. It was Albert! Kissy-kissy.

Mr. Gonzales just loved GWB and boasted his children got to pet Barney and romp on the White House (now a white big pig-feed-bucket) lawn. The gush was ill. The listening audience was legal dc residents or those who were flown in to all bush-drool together? I honestly wanted to vomit and send all licensed lawyers on a Swift Boat toward jagged rock lagoons.

That disgust was was just after the stolen election. I'll hush in public how I feel today!

'Um seem all to be terrible peep-squeek goons? I no there are some god DoJ's. Get the louses out. Pack up. I'm not saying scram so damn fast they jump out the DoJ windows or leap the W.H. caged compound. They have used the nations W.H. to plot. Go before another Bank-Heist or Tax-Theft, or the next murder...etc., O, Ya know?

Gads gnosis! Go! Find respectable leadership somewhere who know they wish to be a human being who wants Justice! Find Statesemen and the fine ladies who are out there in the world...Why do we select such malformed freaks? I'm tired of calling them-others names. I feel like a jerk! But they are low-class hogs who bellow...and they are gross with bad traits and many human malformities. Scoundrels.

I say get more real honest and feisty until neocons all go...

No select weak 'forlorn' trolls.

BTW, (OT) the neighbor here in NS caught a 60 pound halibut and 19,000 pounds of cod-fish on a five day, 80 mile trip out to sea. Honest work. I saw the video. No dragging methods were used to damage or disrupt the future spawning season. Respect the ocean floors. ~.~ a hint to congress.

The harvest was done respectfully. On the boat, one squid-bait was placed on each hook by hand, and the fish were "dressed" @ sea? Dressed?

You mean cut-open, scaled, and "gutted?" Every fish had the slimey black "guts" tossed to the sea birds and sharks? Yes. Words do get watered down, don't they? Yes. Dressed means killed for Americans fish-markets. If we only realized how many people it takes to feed us...no steal.

The past revolutions were inevitable uprisings as a means to improve Life. Let's rid us-all of disillusion, and advance a better world that we all can mutually share. It is a time of restoration. It is a time of active participation in hopes of a better world.

It won't be a return to earthen Paradise and Milton's "Paradise Lost" was a different epic-era. These are interesting days. Let's hope NO one calls for the kings head. I'm NOT being stupid, intentionally, but in John Milton's day the Free Press were wanting the public execution of the wretched politico's. Gads. BT, J.M. did write about Doctrine, Discipline, and Divorce. He also wrote in 1660, "A Ready and Easy Way to Establish a Free Cmmnwealth." Get rid of defeatist attitudes and NO Call for the executions of the creeps.

Oh, and NO DO misquote each other? BTW, the misquitoes bite lots while watching a pretty full moon rise forth from the sea.

Thanks for the healthy anger that is evenly controlled. I hear some restrained, clear, and outspoken courage that I believe can prevent civil unrest. I say "lash out" erbally more and more so none lose their heads. Gads. The present crew will screw you, and assasinate your character! That's said to be aworst crime than murder.

I did read slowly the Tragic Legacy book of Glenns. Everyone should have a excellent Mona Holland spell checker and conscructive critic? Acknowledgements. We sure have our faults. How to Improve? O, do the honest work on the self!

There is no way out of this world but by death.

It don't take a Milton or a writer of a idea notion of a neo-paradise...in the 1st century. A honest statesperson, dressed and somewhat decipherable, and a good speler, would be nice. I'm trying to be serious. I rambled. I know that.

I say I sorry. Some people need to say they are sorry too.
