@Chris C., excellent choice
“My weapon of choice is the generational sword”
I spent 14 years after leaving the Air Force, targeting a broader youth group than yours. I worked with children 3-18 in a social service agency primarily serving Asian and African immigrants and teaching inner-city elementary students a special curriculum on anti-violence, anti-bias and life skills. These children and youth were sorely lacking in critical thinking skills because of stifling, spoiling, smothering parenting by adults who wanted their children to have so much more than they had. The result is children who ride along instead of taking charge of their lives. I’m sure you saw the results in some of your high school and college students when you were dissecting the classics with them. No Child Left Behind and the insane emphasis on testing are certainly not helping teachers instill the love of learning that drives both of us.
Keeping our youth from falling prey to the Puggoons and faulty values instructors, is the key to a better future. The polls and my gut tell us that the under 30 crowd is headed “liberal” and has been disgusted by what they have seen happen to our presidency and country. A lot of credit for that should go to John Stewart of the Daily Show and to a somewhat lesser degree to Stephen Colbert and Keith Olbermann and of course excellent teachers like you. The Puggons give the satirists such excellent and voluminous material.
Being an optimistic pessimist, I keep finding reasons to thank the Puggoons and Rovians. Thanks to their kind of morals and values young adults who leave their side will be on our side for quite a while. The same is true for immigrants legal and illegal who see through the RWA nonsense and inhumanity. These Puggoons through the just approved means of using social security numbers and making employers fire those whose numbers don't match are willing to keep 8 million minimum or lower wage presently employed workers from getting a half-way decent job and let them and their families grow quickly destitute or become economic slaves to unscrupulous employers. Who cares what it does to currently vibrant communities because we have finally done something about those damn illegals.
By the way, we greatly increased the number of illegals through a little noticed legislative change during Lyndon Johnson’s efforts to improve people’s lives by allowing legal immigrants to bring over all types of other relatives and the exponential explosion started. We didn’t know it was happening and weren’t prepared to make improvements in our infrastructure like enough schools and housing. Now the Puggoons blame immigrants for causing the problem. We also gave full support to the illegals and border crossing because it made good business sense and now we blame them.
I’m sure you taught your students to accept full responsibility for their decisions and the consequences. Apparently these Puggoons never learned that and spend their lives in cruel blaming. That was the primary thing I tried to teach the children and youth I worked with. That and truth is the best defense against bullies. I notice the RWA trolls always leave a sound argument or addressing of morals and values alone unless they can turn it into a false weapon and play the blame game.
I enjoy your and so many other posts and am glad I started bloging a few months ago.

one correction
"By the way, we greatly increased the number of illegals"

The mind wanders. That is good. PTSD hurts. A couple of thoughts before I put air in the tires.
M.H. and M.R.P. @ 7:38, 7:39 made comments at about the time I was watching bats dart and zoom, fly, and entertain me.
Bats fly like a nocturnal butterfly. She will soar, but dip faster and entertain in the night. I remember, as a child, the family was off to the beach. A drab grey-green canvas was covering a luggage rack on the top of the car. The family got up in the nighttime. When we arrived at the seashore my father called me and my sisters to look at a dead bat that was wrapped up in the canvass. It was blind as a bat? Or, the combustion motor car confused the built in sonar recorder? Bats are cute. See a National Geographic front page photo of a bat and you will agree.

Michael H. @ 7:38 sent me into some old memories. I've briefly mentioned in a past comment that I wish people could see what ruin and devastation is visited upon the innocent victims of war or Natural catastrophe's. A peace corp of humanization conscription would cure a world of insensitivity and hate? I believe the military should NOT be pawns for the CEO's of EXXON's and Halliburton. The pope edict reads, "Eat fish on Friday?" NO!
Michael: In 1994- You mentioned Chaney's comments about invading Iraq- My memory ~*~ In 1993 I did a month of humanitarian work/therapy in a beautiful agrarian village, Killari, in India's Latur district, in central India's Maharashtra's State. The seismological quake registered 6.3 on the Richter (sp) scale while residents slept.
The first report was an estimated 60,000 (it registered in my psyche a Vietnam death-figure and to calm some ptsd-burial, it was a return to a tragic scene and duty opportunity to help to me!) people may have been buried under rubble and were killed in surrounding central India's rural areas. Tho the 60,000 figure was lowered to an estimated 18,000. That's a lot of bodies to be pulled from stone walls and buried. Gravity laid stone houses had remained for generations, firm and intact for centuries until...the beautiful simple homes...
...
with hand hew carved wood beams, and stone walls, and those beautiful artistically designed barns etc., A wall may exceed 30 feet high, and fenced in shelters, and livestock and private village homes you read about in Virgil, Hesiod, W.S. etc., and if you read a Psalm in biblical literature...
***
...*The heavy stone walls swayed, rocked, and like a baby cradle, crashed and crumbled. I have a souvenir hand made baby bonnet I found. It was found by me in a hand made baby cradle.
Why bother to ramble or rage on and on to tell how I'd scamper in a dozen different direction within minutes, trying in vain to extract a dead baby, an old lady, a old man, even tho dead for days, and the gold amulet necklaces would be routinely pilfered buy a government official. Scarf-up...me barf.
...I could try to tell of decaying smells, little cute hungry piglets crowding around ya' as ya' and when ya' went to morning squat outside the camp with a spade. What a pig will eat for breakfast? Ask General Petraeus.
The temporary make-shift tin roof shelter were where survivors wailed. The Areuvedic homeopathy doctors were native and amazing. I listened to every word. I watched their healing gestures because they treated trauma victims, and I was a token American, and often, with a mild dosages of what is nature's "illegals" seemed to be offered by a benevolent healer physicians to an Indian in great grief. Honey for infections was esteemed more than a pharmaceutics's antibiotic.

My point: true or false? A Pakistan Doctor doing relief work insisted the disaster was NOT Nature's natural panic manifestation. He insisted the underground Deccan Pleutua shifted as a result of underground weaponry test detonations. I still got a large dose of ptsd. It is a normal manifestation occurrence if ya' has seen the consequences of man made war- the result of Hate! The only antidote is to calm and work at cultivation of some love. Lavage (sp) or lovage green leaves in mashed tatters is heavenly too...

I think of a human neocon pro-war is like a hurt human puppy? huh. I bad parent will place out on the kitchen floor a MSM newspaper to help potty train Rove. Dick, George, and on an on, but you can discern and decide a "cute" name?
The poor pup (I got computer pups?) begins to learn to go to the newspaper. Photo's of earthquakes, and bombed out urban Middle East ruins have been featured on the grizzly front page to inform the world---
_
Oh. At Home Protecting Why? I confused too. Mr HSD say, "Good Dog." "Good pup." "Poop on the paper, great?" Mr Chertoff says, "Toss a dry bone biscuit"...Yet...Later, "Good Brownie." Oh. A deeper insight into the nature of lies and big problems...Why?
Now the young pup seems twisted limp, shivers, and lies down as if pouting and sneering...Why? Maybe, just maybe, a frustrated adult kicked the forming creature in the spleen, liver, shin, rump and the poor child would crawl under the neocon bed and dream of "monsters" and revenge?
"Good George" "Good Rove." Odd Petraeus." "Good Dick." God help us?
The good news is Pete the hen at the farm has started laying breakfast brown eggs. Pete was named by my grandaughter. Have you ever heard of a cat named Verticis? "Good Virgie." I got a couple last chores and then off to Sheets gas station for fuel and air. Gads. Air for rubber wheels ain't even free. What is going on in the world?
Ask General Petraeus if the marigold in September are as beautiful as the sunflowers and mustard fields in bloom.
